I was finally able to buy some sweet bread. It did not disappoint. Lady at the front was so nice and made suggestions on their top selling conchas. I enjoyed the cookies and cream and Ube. Only downfall is, I wish they had evening hours.

Good to see Ben’s bakery operating again. The new owner’s are young up and coming business owners. I love that people go into business for the love of just providing either a service or product that people want. Come try their bread ,it is delicious.

I have never had a concha that was so soft and the pink cake was so flavorful, everything was sooo good! You can definitely taste the love that’s in these pastries. Also the owner is very respectful and sweet. Very friendly service would most definitely recommend for anyone looking for authentic Mexican pastries!

Stopped by out of sense of nostalgia, even though the outside is a fright. Perhaps the inside is refurbished and nice, I thought. Google reviews weren’t super plentiful but there were some, mostly saying nice things. So I check the days and hours, show up, and it was closed. My advice, anyone with the same sentimental notion, just go somewhere else. My fondest wish is that city will attract a Mexican sweet break bakery to the downtown area as part of their revitalization efforts. It really, really needs it. And, it’d make money, too! This Ben’s does not seem like a serious business to me. Not only was it closed during its posted business hours, but there is a complete lack of effort to make to make the building appealing to enter.

Amazing pan dulce. Owners are passionate about their breads, and accommodate to customers preferences. Their bread is light and fluffy, with an amazing texture and crumb. You can tell love is baked into it.

The bread is just absolutely AMAZING!! We bought a regular vanilla concha and rebanadas, and they were insanely good, very soft and fresh. The lady said they don’t accept LoneStar cards yet, but they’re in the process of implementing that. Methods of payment at the moment are cash, credit/debit card, and cashapp. Recommend this place 100%.

Don’t make the mistake I did in thinking the place is abandoned. The building is a historical site, so it doesn’t look new like the more renovated parts of downtown. But inside is a delightful little shop with awesome sweet breads! The owner was friendly and attentive. Oh, and if you’re going there for the ube conchas, they’re only available on Fridays.
