Had the best family dinner to go: Big pretzel, potato skins, a lovely half salad with ranch, two pork steak plates with potato salad, baked beans, and green beans. The salad was all fancy field greens with halved grape tomatoes, light shredded cheese and croutons. The ranch was homemade. The pork steaks were tender and covered in a deep, rich smokey-sweet sauce. The baked beans were cooked with chunks of pork and were absolutely delicious. The potato skins were nice and tender, almost sweet, with melted cheddar and heaps of chopped bacon. We are happy and stuffed. He also makes the most flavorful smoked pork and chicken that I buy by the pound to use for Brunswick stew. A++++

I very much wanted to love this place. We had full slab of ribs and a pork steak. Ribs were ok at best, a lot of chew . Could not pull the bones apart at all and had to cut them between the bones. Pork steak was almost a disaster. I want to say it was undercooked but I’m not sure what happened. Not even easy to cut with a knife and meat was very pink” hopefully just from being smoked” . The sauce was not baked on but just applied before serving. The sauce was warm and the pork steak almost cold. Our bill was over $50 with one water and one soda.

Mr BBQ has 2 great locations! One in Waterloo at Mystic Oak golf course, and one in Columbia in the shopping center that Schnucks is in. The food here is always on point! I have never had any issues with the service staff here, and occasionally, you can catch Mr. BBQ himself here. Don’t be afraid to say hi to him as he is a great guy! If you are thinking twice about stopping by for some great food, don’t! You will not be disappointed!

We’ve been to both the Waterloo and Columbia Mr. BBQ locations and found the staff at both to be friendly and helpful. Everyone raves about the barbecue and chicken, which are great, but what I LOVE, and make a special trip for, is the baked potato! It’s enormous (enough for a meal by itself) and comes loaded with goodies!

I’ve visited Mr. BBQ in Columbia, IL, twice. The first time my daughter and I ordered several things. We had the burger, a rack of ribs, pulled pork sandwich, snoots and their homemade potato salad. Everything was delicious, including the BBQ sauce! The snoots were yummy and crispy but a few of them were a little too chewy. I prefer crispy snoots.

We went to this restaurant for the first time with a group. One in the group had been there before. Several ordered the cod fish plate which they said was really tasty, several ordered the pork steak plate and said it was tasty and several ordered the half slab of ribs as I did. The ribs come out slathered in BBQ sauce (the only sauce they have) and looked appetizing. But, the ribs had NO flavor or seasoning and were very disappointing for a BBQ restaurant. The ribs were tender and easily pulled off of the bone once you cut the bones apart. The BBQ sauce tasted OK but lacked a smoky flavor I prefer. IF we ever go back, I will not order the ribs again. There are many BBQ restaurants in the greater St. Louis area who serve fantastic tasting ribs BUT, this is not the place to go IF you want fantastic tasting ribs.

Best BBQ in MONROE COUNTY hands down. They keep it simple and simple works! Other BBQ places in the area need to take notes from Mr.BBQ. My personal favorite is the pork steak with baked beans and fried Okra. You can’t go wrong with any of it though. Atmosphere is great especially during live music i had the pleasure of being entertained by MO’ Pleasure Band.

Ordered 2 orders of “smoked” wings. Well these were not smoked, very bland, sauce was thin and served on the side. We had to toss them when we got home. Waterloo honey hot had no heat, sweet and spicy really wasn’t very much flavor. Wouldn’t get them again. I was expecting better wings from all the hype people put on this place. I make better wings at home. Wings weren’t crisp they tasted like they were thrown in the oven and baked, no seasoning or anything on them.

Went there around 4pm they were already out of ribs then were informedthey were out of Porksteaks only thing thay had was pulled pork nachos burgers or fried chicken, the baked beans was the best might try again!! Gave it a second chance today they actually had food Porksteak was good Nachos were good as well.
