Our first visit after fellow workers brought back lunch and I saw the food and portions, it looked and smelled great! I took my family there for lunch on Saturday, everything was excellent, they were slightly busy, yet they greeted us with a smile, asked if it was our first visit? They helped us by telling us about all the food, which was plentiful and had great taste. We all had Jerk Chicken white meat with 2 sides, green beans and sweet potato. I recommend completely!

I was warned about this place but I had decent experiences so I continued to spend my money here. I’ve been to this location and others plenty. This time I ordered delivery and received a very unusually small amount of oxtails which cost $20.99 plus tax and all the extra fees. Instacart was no help so I loaded my 2 under 2 in the car and went to the location. The lady at the front was very rude and not helpful. There was another lady there who seemed like she wanted to help but was too afraid of Rude lady. I didn’t want a refund. I only wanted the amount of food I paid for which in the end I still didn’t receive. The saddest part of it all…if she had given me a reasonable amount it probably wouldn’t have hurt her or her pockets but as the old saying goes… “it be your own people” smh. I won’t spend a red cent here again. That’s the rude lady in the photo…she happen to come out while I was taking my picture.

What is going on? This food is not good at all!! I love mp’s and I do not mind the price because the food is so good however, today someone is playing in my face. This macaroni and cheese is nasty, soupy and the cheese is chunky, the oxtails ain’t right and cabbage is mushy… I’m outraged… I noticed new staff maybe someone else is cooking.. I can’t eat this… please fix this because I love doing business with y’all, I love oxtails.

I’ve been a MP Island customer for over 11 years. This was my first time at the Portsmouth location. I went for lunch right around noon on a Tuesday. They were quick and the service was amazing! I got jerk chicken with rice & peas, cabbage, plantains, and a chicken patty. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be visiting this location more.

I received my food today and taste the sauce and it was extremely spicy. I called and spoke with the manager and she was very rude and never offered to remake it or offer a refund. For anyone with health issues please be warned and ask about there level of spice

Oh My Goodness, today was my first visit to MP Island Cafe it was nice and clean and very friendly, she prepared my food with the most polite attitude and she kept a smile on her face. Once I got home and taste my food it was heaven the cabbage was like butter melted in my mouth, the mc& cheese was so cheesy I’m eating as I type. I got the Ox tails and it fell off the bone. I also had the rice and red beans I love everything. It was perfect I drove 21 minutes to get there but it was worth every second. Thank MP Island Cafe it is delicious

Although the service is always good, the food has fallen off the last few times. The oxtails seem to be rushed. They’ve not been tender at all. Same goes for the greens.

Don’t waste your time going here. Norfolk location is the best. The lady manager there is rude and they skimp you on food. Just left their horrible service and the food was dried out.
