Other reviewers have summed this place up quite well. You should call beforehand. We were beyond lucky, securing a table on New Year’s Eve. You’ll place your order on the phone, so have your party together and on speaker. You’re in for an absolutely incredible dining experience. No frills, no fanfare, and nothing well-done; don’t even bother asking. The best food on the island and an unforgettably charming experience await. Come prepared for banter.

We had dinner at Mountain View Restaurant in Tortola, it was an amazing experience. Jim owns the place, you have to make a reservation since he only hosts two tables a night. The food is incredible and it’s a great dining experience. Its also fairly priced. Jim is also a great person to talk to, so kind and friendly, lots of great stories and is well traveled. Definitely recommend. Had the surf and turf, steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the lobster thermidor and he loved it. The best meal we’ve had in Tortola so far, not sure if it can be beat

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, then stop in here and see Jim. The banana smoothies are very very good and reasonably priced ($5 with or without rum). You will not find a more interesting man than Jim on the island. My Fiance and I ate dinner here and he shared his life story with us. We highly recommend you make a dinner reservation. He seats a maximum of two tables per night and the food is delicious and unique. If you’re planning to hike to the top of Sage Mountain, take some time to stop in afterwards to get a banana smoothly, you will be happy you did.

Jim serves the best lobster theridor on Tortola according to my wife and my surf and turf (fillet and shrimp) was perfectly prepared. My wife and I were lucky and visited the gift shop and snack bar after all the cruise ship groups had cleared out. Jim only seats a maximum of two tables per night for dinner. We were somehow the only diners there that night. His conch fritters came with a sauce that was amazing! If you get the chance, you have to try this place for dinner. Not a fancy place, but the food quality more than makes up for that.

Don’t even think about going to the overlook. There’s nothing to see but trees as the observation deck is falling apart. The hike from the office and back was treacherous. Slipping and sliding the whole time. Somebody’s going to get seriously there if nothing is done to improve the trail.

Jim is an incredible chef and all his food is perfection and made with intention. Highly suggest the banana smoothie. Yes he has 1 flavor, but it’s the best you’ll ever have.
