My wife and I came in for lunch after my daughter’s race at Sugarbowl. We had some time to kill so we ordered multiple things to share and took our time eating. We both got the Arnold Palmer and they were delicious. We started with the Charcuterie board, brie, apple slices, multiple sliced meats, grapes, cashews and more. It was yummy and the fruit was perfect. I surprised my wife by ordering the deviled eggs, they were made fresh to order and the bacon bits used for garnish were warm from the griddle, nailed it! We waited a while and decided to share the NYC bagel with Lox. Honestly, I didn’t know what Lox was and wife explained it was smoked salmon. We got the onion bagel, topped with cream cheese schmear, smoked salmon, cucumber slices, pickled onion and capers, again we loved it.

We were extremely impressed with the owner/chef who came out to ask every table how the food was to make sure it turned out the way she intended. To top it off she came out to offer us a peanut butter cookie made from her mother’s recipe. You may not be this lucky but we were and we will be back whenever we can and I hope the locals appreciate what a gem they have here. Keep it up, you guys rock!!!

Cozy with coffee shop vibes but no music playing ‍♀️ It is in an easy location to get to off I80 and has a good amount of parking which can be hard to find in Truckee. Good offerings at a fair price. They support other small businesses by selling their wares too!

Very lovely looking shop. Amazing and prompt service. Croissanwich was disgusting. Eggs were very undercooked. No seasoning. As bland as it gets. Also had the meatloaf sandwich. Didn’t get any sauce with it even though it was recommended…. The sauce wouldn’t have saved it. Took a couple bites of each and tossed in the trash. Fitting end to such a dreadful food experience….will update my review when I return.

I got the burrito bowl. $4 to add veggies and $3 to add bacon and i got this (the add on charges were not listed on the menu) also charged extra for salsa. potatoes were under cooked, overall pretty disappointed and shocked to spend $20 on something originally priced at $10. I wouldn’t recommend the burrito bowl

If you’re camping nearby ️ and desperately need a real cup of coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been filtered through a sock , Mountain Brew is your salvation .

The Highlights :
• Coffee game = elite ☕ – Smooth, flavorful, and strong enough to make you forgive everything else in life (almost). Honestly, I’d come back just for the coffee.
• Service with actual smiles – The staff were warm, friendly, and didn’t make me feel like I was interrupting their day (looking at you, other places ).
• Cozy, chill vibes – The kind of spot you want to linger in, pretending you’re working on your novel while really just people-watching.
• Perfect location ‍♀️ – Close enough to the campground to make it worth the “I-need-caffeine-now” panic walk.
• Harry Styles on the speakers – You can’t be in a bad mood when “Watermelon Sugar” is playing. Scientific fact.

The Not-So-Highlights :
• The food ️ – Let’s just say… “creative” combinations of ingredients. Like the chef said, “Why not?” and everyone went along with it. Edible? Yes. Michelin star? Let’s not push it.

Overall :
Mountain Brew isn’t just a coffee stop — it’s an oasis ☕ . Come for the caffeine, stay for the vibes, and if the food isn’t exactly what you pictured… well, at least Harry Styles will be there to sing you through it .

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for coffee & service. ⭐⭐⭐ for food, but hey — it’s still better than campfire oatmeal

I stopped by Mountain Brew and ordered a chai latte and the hot rosemary ham havarti melt sandwich, both were fantastic! The chai was perfectly spiced and not too sweet, and the sandwich was warm, melty, and full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy something delicious!

I was genuinely surprised to see complaints about pricing at Mountain Brew. In my experience, this restaurant offers exceptional value when you consider the quality of food, overall dining experience, and delightful atmosphere. I typically spend no more than $30, including tip, for meals that would undoubtedly cost significantly more at comparable establishments in the area.

Having tried numerous restaurants around Tahoe Lake, I confidently rate Mountain Brew a full ten stars for their outstanding offerings. The food here is truly delicious, consistently surpassing expectations and distinguishing itself from many other local options. While there is slight room for improvement in their coffee offerings, this minor detail hardly detracts from the otherwise remarkable experience.

If you’re seeking delicious food and an excellent atmosphere in the Truckee/Tahoe Lake area, Mountain Brew unquestionably stands out as the premier choice. Highly recommended!

The Mountain Brew brings a refreshing twist to the traditional coffee shop experience. At first glance, the building is a bit misleading—it resembles a mechanical shop more than a café, and the typical coffee shop aesthetic is thrown out the window. But don’t let the exterior fool you. Inside, it’s a beautiful and thoughtfully designed space, offering a much-needed fresh take—the Body-Coffee-Shop vibe is unique and inviting.

We stopped here while passing through Truckee at the end of a beautiful road trip, and it was the perfect ending. I had the white mocha, which had a great coffee balance—just a bit light on the sugar, but the oatmeal cookie made up for it, adding warmth and richness. Together, they made an unexpectedly great combo.

What really made the experience special was the atmosphere. A light evening rain had just started, and with the mountain view as our backdrop, it was one of those rare moments of peaceful perfection—sipping coffee, enjoying the cool breeze, and soaking in the beauty around us.

Customer service was great—staff were helpful and informative about their offerings. However, I would suggest that management or the owner speak with employees about being more welcoming when customers use familiar coffee terms. When I used the word Frappuccino, it seemed to trigger an unnecessarily dismissive reaction. Let’s be honest—Starbucks has been around for a long time and plays a big role in many people’s coffee experiences. There’s no need to act annoyed or confused when people use terms they’re familiar with. Embrace the learning opportunity; we’re here for a new experience, not to be judged or dismissed.

Also, a huge thank you for staying open past 6 pm—most places were already closed, and we were getting a little frustrated trying to find a spot. Your extended hours truly made our night.

More than just a coffee shop! We had a brewed coffee, which is iffy in a lot of places! Not here-it was smooth. The snickerdoodle cookie was soft and just sweet enough. And don’t get me started on the grilled artichoke, chipotle sandwich on a brioche bun! So good!

Definitely a must if you’re in the Truckee area!

Mountain Brew is honestly my go to for coffee and food. I’m always on the go, so having a drive through in Truckee is such a game changer!! Everything is made to order and totally worth the wait. The ham and cheese croissants are so good and all their salads are solid. I also love that they have iced tea, milkshakes, great lattes, and even matcha. There is really something for everyone. Plus, the owners and staff are super kind, which makes it even better. So happy this spot exists in Truckee
