Visited after the theater on a Sunday early evening. I sat at the bar counter (without reservation). Service was good and they recommended dishes that I should try.
Had the raw sobrasada with honey, anchovy on brioche, brill crudo (lovely texture … however just my opinion all the soup takes away from the brill flavour), john dory with potatoes as side. For dessert olive oil and brown bread ice cream.
10/10 … would definitely return!

What an absolute gem! We were just walking by when the exterior caught our eye, and we decided to stop in for lunch—best decision ever.

Mountain serves incredibly unique and thoughtful dishes. Our server helped us navigate the menu (especially portion sizes), which we truly appreciated because some plates are wonderfully generous. Everything we ordered was outstanding: sardines, cured beef, short ribs, baked rice, and wild mushrooms—every bite was fresh, bold, and bursting with flavor. And you must order the bread and butter… it’s downright heavenly.

Our server was fantastic—warm, friendly, and delightfully chatty—and she made an already great experience even better.

When I come back to London, this will be the very first place I return to. Can’t recommend it enough!

Another great choice in London though packed with foodies, which already says a lot about this place. Located on lively Beak Street in Soho, Mountain carries a buzzing, energetic atmosphere where open flames, rustic plating, and seasonal produce take centre stage. Led by chef Tomos Parry, the menu leans heavily towards bold flavours, seafood, and wood-fired cooking that’s perfect for sharing and grazing.

We ordered many small bites and truly enjoyed the experience. The oysters were fresh and clean, though personally I’d prefer them without added flavours to fully appreciate their natural brininess. The jamón paired beautifully with wine, while the cockles cooked with wine and garlic were a surprise hit. I honestly couldn’t stop eating them.

The sautéed mushrooms with raw egg were rich, earthy, and indulgent so comforting yet refined. The mackerel with cauliflower was unique, elevated by a special sauce that enhanced the fish without overpowering it. Then came the spider crab omelette – how can anyone resist? That perfectly wrapped omelette with a soft, runny centre showed real skill and restraint.

For mains, both the sirloin steak and pork chop were excellent choices, cooked confidently and well balanced. But the true standout was the grilled dory fish that’s simple lemon sauce, beautifully moist flesh, and melting with every bite. Proof that simplicity, when done right, can be the most memorable.

A fantastic spot to enjoy a lively yet polished meal in Soho but do book early, as tables here don’t stay free for long.

Delicious local ingredients, meet Spanish flare.
The menu is wide as a tapas bar, but almost every dish has hit the spot.
We were mostly excited about the beef Rib, John Dory, brill crisp in almond soup and the wood fired rice and mushrooms. Honestly, there was enough choice left in the menu that we didn’t try, that we would definitely come back.
Menu is of course changing daily, but some of the pillars stay the same.
The open kitchen that you can literally walk into and the staff were extremely nice and helpful.

Saturday lunch. Oscar was excellent, and so was Mariana. Welcoming, friendly, helpful, great menu recommendations.
Disappointed by some of the reviews I have seen on tripadvisor as they do not match what we experienced at all and they provide a poor and inaccurate picture of the experience at Mountain. It is not my first visit, so with a couple of negative reviews in mind I watched the ground floor dining room carefully. I found small groups of customers engaged with each other and the staff, none forgotten, or overlooked and no one seemed to wait very long for service, food or drink. The food was delicious. The dairy beef superb, the cockles also. Jersey beef rib was one of the tastiest steaks I have ever had, and the wood fired rice, the wild mushrooms and the beetroot salad were the perfect accompaniment. Thanks so much to the Mountain team. We will be back!

Mountain thoroughly deserves its one star rating, so why four stars and not five? I usually reserve five stars to those that I would definitely go back to. Not sure about returning to Mountain. Of the dishes we had let me rate them #1 wild mushrooms (a surprise even for me), #2 fresh cheese w anchovy, #3 raw sobrassada w honey, #4 brill crude with almond & rhubarb #5 a long way last a very disappointing short rib this ruined our experience but our dog was very thankful for the leftovers.

One of the best dining experiences this year.

This restaurant is focused on great ingredients and these shine through.

The sobrasado which had grilled with the bread puff I suppose was excellent.

Oysters were served with plum and I think juniper and dill.

There was a small bowl of tripe also which was excellent and I really enjoyed the smoky paprika with this.

The spider crab omelette and the wild mushrooms also did the job.

The star of the show was the short rib, which we had with baked rice and beetroot salad which was a great combination.

The glass of sparkling wine was also excellent.

There was great service but some pauses between courses so be prepared for some staggered service here. We were not.left too long though.

This is a wonderful dining experience and worth a trip to visit.

Heard a lot about this restaurant so went for anniversary lunch.

I think they‘ve had their day.

Appetisers were awesome, however main courses were not nicely done. Mutton chops were salty and Dover Sole was too bland.

Waiter forgot the bread and butter and when reminded to take it off the bill didn’t offer apology. No fuss or mention of occasion being celebrated. Think when they are busy the cooking and service fall apart very quickly.

Choice of wine and recommendation was great and lager (even though cheapest drink on menu) was refreshing.

Could be skipped easily.

This lively eatery in soho offers an extensive seasonal menu. With some knowledgeable guidance from our server our selections proved to be absolutely delicious. Our palates delighted with the starter of fresh cheese and anchovy on toast. The tomatoes with soft curd were slightly under seasoned for our taste and were the only dish that underwhelmed us. The rockstars of the show were the mutton chops and the John Dory…simple food, exquisitely prepared. The ensamada with grilled peaches was the ideal finish to a wonderful meal.

Overrated Michelin 1 star

Mutton chop — Super salty, to the point it could make you . We reported it and the kitchen served another plate. It was less salty, but still overly seasoned, and full of fat, gristle and silverskin, making it very hard to chew.

Wood-fire rice — Also extremely salty; you could actually taste salt crystals on the surface.

Tripe — Very strong smoky flavor. Quite salty, but acceptable compared to the first two dishes.

Mushroom — The only dish that could be considered delicious.

Long waits between dishes as well
