I’m not sure why it’s called the mountain bayou- the only creole food here was a bean dish and some catfish. The service was friendly. The food was good, but not outstanding. Some of the chicken wings were undercooked. Overall: a bit pricey for something that’s really not that great. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. The decor is kind of fun. I think it was a good concept- even if they didn’t quite pull it off. Maybe the banged up tables and chairs (to be expected when most clients come in wearing ski boots) detracted from the effect. Admittedly- the fried pickles were quite good.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. When it came time to pay the bill, the waitress brought our group (12 people) one ticket. She refused to split up the tab, claiming it was “too hard” and insisted that it was our faults that we didn’t specifically request separate tickets. After speaking with her respectfully, some of the people in the restaurant began yelling and slandering our group. It was a very odd experience seeing adults act in such a childish manner.

The service was terrible. We were told at the end of the meal that we couldn’t split checks because we didn’t request it prior to ordering. Then we were told that their computer didn’t do that. Next, we were told that no restaurant ever splits checks. Then we told that there was a mandatory tip of 20% for having a group greater than 5. However this wasn’t printed on the menu. Then we were ridiculed by the server when we tried to offer alternatives to the split check dilemma. Dividing up the amount on different cards and so forth. Even worse he sat there and made fun of us while we tried to figure our tab out amongst ourselves. Sadly we were one of the few tables in the restaurant and it took over an hour for the food to arrive at the table. The food wasn’t that great. Plus the server was drinking while serving us. I have never in my life been treated so terribly. We tried to call the manager and alert him of the situation, but didn’t receive much positive feedback. We were accused by the manager of being spring breakers when sadly all of us were 30 +. I have worked as a server in the past and I have never wanted to walk out until that meal. Stay away the foods not that great anyway.

The restaurant here that preceded this one was extraordinary, every single thing was good. This is not that, but I had the best hamburger I’ve ever had, there, tonight. As my mother-in-law would say: “to die for.” And super staff smiley attentive and knowledgeable.

First I would like to give them a little bit of credit for the food being pretty good. Now on to the part where I take away any credit that I would like to give them. I have to start by saying that we had a group of 14 people and when we walked in, there were a couple guys at the bar, 5-6 people outside and a table of 3 inside. So we were greatly adding to their bottom line for the evening just by showing up. They were very gracious and made us a long table where we could all be seated and even offered to take a group picture. After that things went down……and down. It took FOREVER to be served. I understand that having a large group in a small restaurant you are not going to be served at the same time due to the size of the kitchen. However, we had kids that were almost done with their food before the last person at our table was even served! I ordered a soft drink and it was completely flat, no carbonation. And I mentioned this to the waiter and he brought me another one and it was the same. I did not drink my soft drink, but was still charged for it, and I was told that is how they always serve their soft drinks. At the end of the meal we asked to split the check and the waiter immediately told us that they couldn’t do that! First of all, they don’t have a POS system. They add the checks up on a calculator and then process credit cards through the Square app on their phones! The waiter suggested that one person pay and then we use some free app that can transfer money to the one that paid by the other two. After a couple minutes of discussion, he finally said he could split it but it would take “at least 10 minutes because I have other stuff to do”. Seriously, how hard is it to divide a total by 3 on your calculator???? Of course, they did include a 20% gratuity due to our large party. If they hadn’t, they would not have received much due to the poor service. So luckily for our server we had a large group!! I would only recommend going here if you have a party of 2-4 people and are not in a hurry to eat your food (or have any hungry kids).

I work next door to this restaraunt. Around 11am, I came over with my lunch and sat down at an outside table. There were no customers at the time so didn’t think it would hurt anything to sit for my 15 min break & enjoy the outside weather. I was planning to order an iced tea when a waitress came up to the table I was seated at & stated that the tables were reserved for their customers & I needed to move! She did not even give me a chance or ask me if I’d like to order something. I said there are no customers here & she said “it will fill up in about 10 minutes.” I got up & went to a lobby table inside the mall & am now typing this review for all to see. I have a view of the outside patio where I was booted from & 10 minutes later there are still no customers. A coworker eats here regularly & I planned on trying it for lunch since I will be working up here more frequently, but not now. Rudeness does not invite new customers. Good job eliminating a potential one.
