I’ve been to the Hideaway several times, as well as many of the Funck’s Restaurant Group locations. The Hideaway’s location, atmosphere, and service are great, much like its sister restaurants. I’ve also had several good meals here, which made this visit disappointing.

I ordered the No. 3 roast beef special, which I’ve had before and enjoyed. It’s advertised as fresh top round slowly roasted for 8 hours, served hot on sourdough and smothered in gravy. The quality did not match what was advertised.

The gravy was pale and tasted reheated, lacking the rich brown flavor you’d expect from roast beef drippings. The roast beef was gray and not very flavorful or tender. It didn’t have the fresh, slow-roasted quality described on the menu.

Sharing this feedback because I know the Hideaway is capable of better, and consistency is important, especially from a restaurant group with multiple locations.

This wasn’t recent, but I wanted to share how we were taken care of when a problem in the kitchen arose. My husband and I went on a summer evening and were seated on the outside deck. It was moderately busy. Our order was taken quickly, and we passed the time chatting and enjoying the pleasant evening outdoors. We didn’t realize how much time had passed, but our server stopped by to apologize for the length of time it was taking for our food. We weren’t terribly bothered by it as we were having a nice time. It did take a bit longer, but eventually our orders came. Our server continued to be apologetic, and we assured her we weren’t upset, we hadn’t even noticed! Next thing, the manager stopped by our table, also apologizing. I was beginning to think we were mixed up with another table as we hadn’t made a peep in complaints. He stunned us by comping our meal AND giving us a $50 gift card for a return visit. He said there was a staging problem in the kitchen that resulted in orders getting out of order. I made sure to tip our server generously, as she was obviously paying more attention than we were!

Went here on a Thursday night which ended up being trivia night! A fun, friendly crowd. The best tomato soup I’ve ever had!

Enjoyed a nice lunch on this unplanned stop. Salad and bacon cheeseburger were both great. You can’t go wrong giving this place a try!

Our food was excellent! We started with nachos and a side of chile. The lettuce could have been shredded a bit more but the plate was more than enough to four adults.

My brisket melt was moist and tasty. My wife had brisket tacos and she said they were delicious. The caprese flatbread and French onion crick were also a hit in our party.

Our previous visits to the Hideaway were during outdoor weather. Our first time indoors was a bit of a disappointment.

When we looked at the GM reviews and images we were wondering why there weren’t many photos of the indoor seating areas. We quickly realized the interior was rather dingy and in need of a major update.

Overall I’d still recommend this place but the outdoor dining experience is much better than indoors.

Our server, Jenna, was fantastic. We had a large group this evening, and she handled everything without a second’s hesitation. She was an absolute professional and everything went off without a hitch. Our food and drinks were delicious, the service was phenomenal, the ambiance was incredibly cozy and exciting. Every staff member we interacted with was upbeat and helpful. This is a fantastic little local gem.

Dined here for lunch and had such a great experience. The food was delicious, the outside deck provided a nice atmosphere and our server (Olivia) was so friendly and helpful, as was other staff. If you’re in the area, this place is worth a stop!

We had a team lunch this week at Mt Gretna Hideaway. Setting up the reservation for around 20 people was easy. The staff were friendly and accommodating for our group. The dining room had plenty of space and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. The food was fantastic as well! Members of my group ordered everything from whiskey Mac n cheese to burgers and steaks. There were even gluten free options that were delicious! I would recommend it for any group of people getting together.

I’ve returned several times for work functions and with my family. The service is always fantastic and the kids food options were a hit with my children. The French fries are amazing, and I’ve enjoyed everything from salads to burgers.

I have long loved the very appropriately named Hideaway across decades as a resident of Mount Gretna. The food selection is varied and generally very good. The portions are more than ample and can be easily shared. the service is always friendly. They’re beautiful outdoor eating space is certainly among its greatest assets. And we love to stop here frequently.
There are only two modest negatives. First is that the food is sometimes a little heavy handed. For example, hideaway fries are mostly hideaway with lots of stuff on top of a smallish pile of fries that are not always crispy by the time you get to them, and if you don’t want bacon, you’ll have to ask them to hold it.
Their second drawback is easy to resolve. It is their eco-UNfriendly Styrofoam take out containers. Here in our lovely community that respects the environment, this is the kind of thing that could easily be much better done. Alan, are you listening?

Ordered a burger- a beyond burger and a Cesar salad (no meat) and nachos almost 80 dollars later.
The Nachos were absolutely Disgusting. I can’t even describe in words how bad they were and 17 dollars!!! Salad was ample and lettuce mostly fresh but no flavor and barely dressing. Burgers were ok with some chips and a wilted pickle . Super disappointing. What gets me upset is the nerve to serve such underwhelming food at ridiculous prices and be okay with it. I work hard for my money and don’t mind paying but it’s frustrating.
