Chill little spot. These chicken tenders were on point! Also pictured is their burger and fries. There aren’t many places left to get oysters anymore and they do them justice. Last time I was here, they were enormous. The patio is perfect for a nice evening drink.

Been here many times and never disappoints. Southern comfort food, oysters, sandwiches, salads, they got you covered at a reasonable price. Plenty of local beer on tap, full bar, which is comfortable, and seating all around. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. The only somewhat drawback that can’t be helped is the parking, though there is room on the street and a lot across the street (not sure if that is legal though).

My friend and I were shopping at Lowe’s and decided to try Mortimer’s for dinner. I ordered the seafood gumbo as appetizer and Snapper Pontchartrain for my main course, along with a house salad and Italian spinach. The gumbo was excellent. I like a soupy gumbo as opposed to a thick one and this one was all that. The only thing that bothered me was the first bite of the snapper. I got a piece of the skin on the bottom of my first bite. It was tough. Otherwise, the fish was really good. The spinach was really a treat. I love the way it was prepared. I texted my daughter and asked if I could bring her home something and she asked for the french dip. She said it was the best she has ever had. Our server’s name was Anastasia and she was top notch. So overall, a very pleasant experience.

This was some of the worst food I have ever tasted! I ordered spinach dip, Morts salad and catfish. The grilled chicken in my salad was hard and dry, the spinach dip was so creamy, it could have been mistaken for soup and it was not seasoned. I had to add so much salt I’m surprised my blood pressure didn’t rise. The catfish was soggy and oily. I do Not see why this place has high reviews. It was absolutely horrible. Do not waste your money. Food is horrible and overpriced!

Hubby had Oysters Rockefeller hamburger and loved it. French fries crispy and well seasoned. Son had Shrimp Po boy and declared a winner. My advice. Order from the menu. My daily special sucked. Chicken and dumplings were doughy and undercooked; turnip greens and black eyed peas lackluster. I will rave about the yeast rolls. Very popular place. Loud.

Don’t forget about Mortimer’s! Great food, great people, great patio, and great drinks. They are still going strong with delicious steaks, seafood, and Cajun fare. We started with the bacon wrapped chicken livers (not my usual choice as I’m not normally a liver fan) and yet they were delicious. The catfish is somehow light and rich, the breading is divine and the portion is generous. The bread for the po-boys is tasty and soft (not scratchy on the roof of your mouth) yet still just the right amount of chewy. The fried oysters have a good clean flavor and were a good size for the sandwich. The red beans and rice are always a great side. Try to leave room for a lemon ice box or fudge pie, you won’t be disappointed.

The atmosphere says whites only. It was hot where my party sat, no music like the rest of the restaurant. We asked the waitress about it and she said let me see what is going on with it and she never came back. Then we asked about the TV she said there was no remote for it and never came back. My party was a total of 9 people and our bill was $340.00 I think we could have had a little better service. All of the pictures on the walls were of white people. What’s wrong with this picture. We stayed and tried to make the best out of it.

The food was delicious and they were very quick to prepare our food exactly as we requested even though it was a phone in order. We will definitely be returning after all this face mask stuff is over so we can sit down and enjoy the restaurant atmosphere.

After many times going to this restaurant as a guest, moved out of state, returned, same old tired place, needs an interior coat of paint, a new kitchen staff and an updated menu. Waitress seemed like she was high, trouble taking orders for 5 people then taking forever bring out appetizer, dinner was a disaster. 4 years ago the prime rib was served cold. Guess what. In 4 years nobody figured out to heat the prime rib. The French dip was just as bad. Decided was not going to chance desert. Trying to pay was another circus as the waitress couldn’t figure out who ordered which dish. This restaurant should be closed until cleaned up and a new staff trained . Extremely disappointed.
