Everything made for a perfect date night with my wife. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The only negative that I could find was the red beans and rice wasn’t the Cajun dish that I was expecting.

I went in to place a to-go order today. The waitress had a real sour attitude from the beginning and was echoed by what I’m assuming was the manager of the evening. I won’t get into all the details, but what really stood out was when I went to pay. The waitress said “so apparently I can charge gratuity on to-go orders so I will”. It was as if I had done something to offend her by simply coming in and placing an order. When I asked how much gratuity is she said 20 percent and then justified it by saying she has to tip out the bartender and other employees. Gratuity is commonplace nowadays and even 20 percent on a to-go order is not out of the ordinary. The issue is the attitude. I started going to this location years ago with my girlfriend – so long ago that there were smoking and non smoking sections. We continued our service to this restaurant through college and our engagement. Somewhere around then we encountered numerous services just like the one this evening. We stopped going. A few years later we tried again. Each time the poor service continued. And now we’ve tried again years later. The difference this time is I won’t be giving the restaurant another opportunity for redemption. The issue has never really been the food or the prices. It has always been the service. Puzzling attitudes and the general feel that your presence is an inconvenience to them. This restaurant was a keystone in mine and my wife’s dating experiences. A once or more a month place. Which for two young kids in college was a lot. A memory and experience I’d like to share with my kids, but I’d never allow my kids to witness such an appalling attitude from someone who’s literal job is to provide you with friendly service. There is no reason why and no excuse for behavior like what I experienced tonight.

Great restaurant! We had the fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and potato skins- everything was perfect, not to greasy and perfect crunch. My husband enjoyed a cup of the red beans and rice. Their menu has great variety, we will definitely be back. Our servers name was Jennifer and she was awesome, great personality and attentive which is the perfect combination. Highly recommend!

I remembered Mortimer’s as an upscale venue that I had visited only once. Thought it would be special for my wife’s birthday. It, unfortunately, wasn’t. Everyone complained about cold food. I’m normally the least picky, but the chicken Beauregard was advertised to contain mushrooms, shrimp, and crawfish, yet didn’t seem to. I would have complained, but I was hoping to discover some items under the cheese. Also, it was agreed that the green beans were vinegary. After the table complained, management supplied a 20% discount. I hate situations like that because I never expect a handout. But I knew we deserved a break this time. I surely, though, was expecting better.

Positives: The seating was comfortable, including for my wife in a wheelchair. The bread and chips and dip were good. For me, so was the soup. And the server was kind and efficient.

Food was absolutely horrid. We waited what felt like an eternity for our food and it came out cold. Not to mention the service was terrible it’s like the people working there don’t know what they’re doing whenever we asked questions about the menu. Would give 0 if I could. Don’t waste your time. Don’t come here. Edit: Forgot to mention how the atmosphere felt! After coming here I heard how the owners are bigots and that makes total sense because as a person of color I felt like I was not safe here at all. Protect yourself and don’t visit this so called “restaurant” they are NOT community friendly.

The Other Summer Avenue Group meet up 11-1-2025, Saturday. Awesome experience. Recommend the French dip sandwich. Everything about our meal was delicious. Dessert was excellent. First time to visit and will definitely return. Staff and especially Jennifer were friendly and really made the evening great. Thank you so much!

The food was well priced and presented well and the flavors were superb, but one big problem. The largest slices of chicken were still raw in the center. It was redone and the second time the largest piece was same way. They were packed and I supposed in a hurry. It would have been perfect without the one issue. Only impacts the extra large slice of chicken breast. Otherwise perfect

Haven’t been here for a very long time. Today it was pretty good. The Mort Burger with ring was a good lunch and my partner enjoyed someone else’s chicken plate lunch. Hope that’s not a regular occurrence as the plate lunches are a big deal here.

The food was delicious and they were very quick to prepare our food exactly as we requested even though it was a phone in order. We will definitely be returning after all this face mask stuff is over so we can sit down and enjoy the restaurant atmosphere.
