There’s a sign instructing you to write your own name on the waiting list that’s near the door. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Sunday which is typical for the area. The coffee was decent but the food was boring. My wife had the 1, 2, 3 which is a pancake with bacon and eggs. The bacon was crispy much to get delight but the rest was alright. My daughter and I had chicken fried steak with potatoes and eggs. The chicken fried steak felt like it was just a very chewy breaded hamburger patty. The gravy just tasted like creamy salt. It wasn’t too salty it just didn’t have any flavor besides cream and salt. The potatoes were bland. The service wasn’t bad but they definitely didn’t give a welcoming vibe.

We were just visiting the area and this place was recommended to us. What a great find! The menu was delicious classic American diner style food in a really fabulous vintage building. Loved it. Kept hoping to see roller skating waitresses!! Highly recommend.

Omg, I have to say this is the spot for filling the belly. Our good friends brought us here for breakfast and I have to say the Food was extremely good, service was spot on and very attentive. Prices are more than fair for the proportions you receive. I would also like to say this establishment has the cleanest restrooms anywhere near I-5. I Will be back for sure, hell I would drive the four hours to come eat breakfast here.

This place is a small hole in the wall but have good service. Food is good didn’t really like the biscuits but they are huge. Also ordered a side of bacon and it’s the best I recommend to try it. Had a country fried steak and its a big portion size. Also ordered the gluten free waffle and it’s really good and fluffy. A good place for to go hungry.

If you want to had the experience of a classic dining, this is the best spot.
The service was on point. They came every a couple of minutes offering more coffee, water, asking if everything is ok.
The food came after a few sips of coffee and a small chat. Portions seemed small, but in reality they were just perfect. Not to big, neither small, just enough. Plus the coffee was really good tasting.
In addition to all that, the entire interior and building it has this classic look, that makes you feel you travel a little in time.
Would totally come back, and you should check it out!

The food, incredible
The staff, unbelievable
The prices, reasonable
The whole diner functions like a well oiled machine using the grease from the thickest, juiciest, smokiest bacon I have ever experienced to lubricate what I can only assume is a NASA trained professional arsenal of wait staff. We will be coming back. Keep up the great work!

First time customer to Morning Thunder Cafe and it was pretty awesome. Food was delicious and happy my daughter recommended this place while visiting her. We’ll definitely be coming back over and over again when I’m in town.

I stand by the bacon cheeseburger, wedges, and vanilla milkshakes. As a creature of habit I always order the same thing here and it’s all delicious. The ranch for the fries is also good and not some bottled junk full of soybean oil. And if it is, you wouldn’t be able to tell.

On the other hand the service is 50/50. The men are significantly better waiters than the women. The men are pleasant and to the point while the women tend to be phony and emotional. The difference between your emotions and your feelings is you showing them to everyone around you. Feel however you want but don’t put your emotions on display at your job. Especially when people are just trying to have a decent meal. I say this as a person who has been frequenting this establishment for years and I seldom see new faces working here.

Lastly the bathrooms are vile. If you can hold it, I recommend doing so. There’s no telling when the drains were last cleaned, but the smell is telling enough. Yes the bathrooms are also dated, but the level of cleanliness is the real issue. The lack of airflow and fresh air circulating is a major contributing factor.

The kids’s meals are meager and overpriced. Truly no match for any of the competing restaurants in the area. Most kids menus serve children 12 and under but not here. If you’re feeding an athlete/athletes especially if they’re in multiple sports then I suggest ordering from the regular menu.

Parking all depends on the time you arrive. The restaurant closes at 2 PM which is around the same time the junior high school across the street is let out for the day. This parking lot is a popular pick up destination for the kids. There are also several other businesses in this plaza and a few of the parking spaces are reserved exclusively for one of those businesses. Either arrive closer to the opening or closing time. Otherwise it is very likely you will have to write your name on a clipboard and wait to be called. The wait times can vary, but if you plan on dining with an elderly guest, you should know that the seating near the front entrance is extremely limited.

I recommend this place if you just want a good burger to go. The kids meals are like a snack tray. The bathrooms need some freshening up. Above all else the ladies need to leave their baggage at the door. Especially the older brunette. It’s been years and we all hear your gossip, fake enthusiasm, and overall poor attitude.

If you do go here be sure to read about the restaurant’s history. It’s entertaining to see how many time the name and ownership have changed over the years. Makes a person wonder what it will be named next.

This place is great! The service is always good. It’s classic dinner style food, but it’s is always good. Overall great place. It can get busy, but just plan to wait if you show up on a popular day or at a popular time. IMO, it’s worth the wait. Your milage may vary.
