Beautiful restaurant. Attentive service. Fresh fish from Japan. Always get the special menu, for the full experience. Highly recommend Moonga! They brought me back to Japan tonight . Thank you chefs at Moonga. Really appreciate the art you put on table for us.

We went to Moonga Sashimi for a birthday celebration. We ordered the Special Sashimi, Shishamo Tempura and the Aburi Pressed Sushi Set. The quality of the sashimi was amazing! The presentation was lovely and very appetizing. We tried to take our time to appreciate the food but it was so good that we demolished it all in no time . Highly recommend to make a reservation or come early. Seating is bar-style and limited (10 only) the ambiance is chic and intimate.

We’ve been long time costumers, this is our go to spot for special occasions and just generally when we crave the best sushi in Edmonton. Last night, a regular Thursday, we went in on a whim since there happen to be tables available last minute(on that note always reserve a table but can try last minute walk ins but maybe call first). Chef Moon happened to be planning and plating their upcoming Valentine’s Day special set. After he was done photographing it, he offered it to us as a treat, what a beautiful surprise! Literally, as everything else on the menu it was plated beautifully, the ingredients are the freshest and all 9 dishes offers something different. We left so full and satisfied as always. Their hospitality has always been top notch, when a fresh batch of uni comes in for example, they will offer for you to try before ordering. Overall, can’t wait to be back.

Went to Moonga with my friend for the a’la carte menu and it was great! The sushi chef appeared to be very passionate in his craft. We ordered the aburi chop chop roll, moonga special, aburi salmon pressed sushi, the pan fried squid and the salmon sashimi.

I would suggest to reserve seats as there are very limited spots in the restaurant and only counter bar seats.

The food overall was excellent, fish was very fresh, rolls had a lot of flavor and the squid was very tender and juicy. I think this will become one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the city and I hope to come back again for the omakase menu.

I have been to the moonga restaurant on whyte ave, but this location far exceeds it.

My favourite place to go for good quality sashimi. It’s pricey but worth it. It’s quite small though, but that’s what makes it very intimate and peaceful in my opinion. The omakase is only $89, which is a good price and it fills you up! It’s 10 courses I think. 🙂

Went here for wedding anniversary with wife for the omakase experience. Amazing food and great attention to detail. Got to experience a ton of different flavour profiles that one wouldn’t be able to experience normally. Well worth it.

Came here with my friend and I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but the vibe/atmosphere really blew me away. We were the only ones there and it felt intimate, bright, and airy. Food was 10/10. Will be back to try more. (They close @2pm tuesdays).

Lastly, the service was very personable, prompt, and non-intrusive.

This place is perfect for duos.

Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The best sushi restaurant ever! ❤️

This place has the freshest and most delicious sashimi and sushi I’ve ever tasted in Canada.
It honestly felt like eating sushi in Japan. Everything was so authentic and high quality.
If I lived in Alberta, I’d be here every week.
Can’t wait to visit again! Thanks!

Well it was my first time having Omakase. It was a 20 course meal. Although that sounds impressive, it’s more like 20
small finger appetizers.

I enjoyed this thoroughly with my wife for our anniversary.

I have to say it was a very unique experience. At times you are overwhelmed by how much detail they put into it and other times you just want to say “please move on”.

Was everything delicious? No, not by a long shot. Some of it was too salty and couldn’t be eaten readily, some of it was a bit chewy. But the good ones or great ones overcame the bad. The details overcame the mediocre. The service overshadowed everything.

I would do it again for a special occasion, for sure, absolutely. As a regular sushi meal? Not a chance, given the expense and the time required.

Praise the chef, his assistants and the service staff in the background.

Here’s how this could have been improved for me.
– Space out the participants if you have the chance. We had an empty seat to our right but they didn’t spread us out and I sat next to someone who was coughing more than normal.
– There should be less pauses between each course as some came right after while others had a large gap. Timing was very inconsistent.

If you’re having some special occasion, this is the best experience ever. Try it out.

We picked up a large roll platter and salmon lover’s platter for a halloween/birthday party and they were a big hit! We had about 35 guests and a lot of food and the sushi was the only thing that got completely eaten. The roll selection skewed to more crowd-pleasing, less adventurous flavours, which I appreciated for a casual party setting. And the salmon platter was a good call; I got to eat as many pieces of salmon sashimi as I wanted without feeling like I was hogging them all :^) I may have to make these a regular menu item at my parties!
