⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Hot Pot Experience — A Local OC Gem!
Moo Moo Hot Pot in Orange County is hands-down one of the best hot pot restaurants I’ve ever visited — and the experience here is nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with friendly service, a warm atmosphere, and an aroma that immediately gets your appetite going. The setup is clean and modern, with spacious tables and high-quality equipment that makes enjoying hot pot feel effortless and fun.
The star of the show, of course, is the hot pot itself. Moo Moo offers a wide variety of rich, flavorful broths — from savory classics to bold spicy options — all of which are perfectly seasoned and constantly refreshed. Whether you prefer mild flavors or something with extra kick, every broth base tastes deep and complex, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal.
There are so many soup base options that I had serious decision paralysis. Everything sounded good. Their golden chicken soup with fish maw is especially delicious. It’s smooth and comforting even on its own. We went with the $58.99 deluxe option, which includes A5 Wagyu and a limited seafood platter. The platter comes with lobster, black tiger shrimp, abalone, mussels, scallops, and surf clam. Once cooked, everything is bouncy and sweet, with no sense of being rushed or low effort at all. Definitely worth it.
The self serve ingredient and sauce bar is very generous. Vegetables, tofu products, vermicelli, wide noodles, and konjac noodles are all well organized and refilled frequently. There are also lots of fried items. Fried shrimp, fried crayfish, and fried chicken are all done properly, and they even have takoyaki. It’s a bit overwhelming in the best way, although I had to hold back to save room for the meat.
I really like the individual hot pot setup. No need to compromise on soup bases, and no fighting over ingredients either. It’s honestly very smart. Great for solo dining and just as good for group gatherings.
The seafood platter was stunning — lobster tails, abalone, scallops, mussels, and surf clams, all arranged on ice like fine dining quality. The soup bases were rich and aromatic, especially the tomato broths. Service was attentive, and the staff kept refilling our plates quickly. Definitely one of the best shabu-shabu experiences I’ve had in SoCal!
Highly recommend for hot pot lovers who want top-quality wagyu and seafood at an all-you-can-eat spot.
We chose the $58.99 tier, and the quality was clearly noticeable.
Food quality:
The wagyu beef, especially the brisket, had excellent marbling and tasted very fresh. The seafood platter stood out — large lobster, thick abalone, and sweet scallops. Everything felt well sourced, not low-quality AYCE filler.
Hot pot setup:
Individual pots with a good range of soup bases, from lighter flavors to richer broths. This made it easy to accommodate different preferences, especially when dining with kids.
Extras & drinks:
The drink selection was thoughtful, with milk tea for kids and Chinese tea for adults. The self-serve bar was better than expected, offering shrimp, crawfish, hot braised items, takoyaki, and more.
Family-friendly:
Our 4-year-old ate for free, which is a big plus for families. While he didn’t eat much hot pot, the cheesecake and ice cream were a hit.
Service & environment:
Clean, modern space with fast service and efficient ordering.
Final thoughts:
Good quality AYCE hot pot with strong value for the price. Great option for family gatherings, group dining, or anyone looking for a satisfying hot pot experience in Irvine. Would return.
P.S. The ice cream is included! -matcha and cookies n cream are our favorites
The quality of meat, seafood, and the upscale environment make it totally worth it. Highly recommend for hot pot lovers!
