When they first brought out my stake it was slightly overdone. The server looked at the first cut to make sure it was right and she suggested to send it back. Great service! I sent it back and when I got it back it was perfect and so delicious.
Would not recommend the Mac and cheese. For as nice as a restaurant this, the dish was severely underwhelming.
Overall my wife and I had a wonderful time and when I’m over there again I’ll be sure to have dinner there again.
To top it all off, the carrot cake was absolutely delicious—moist, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending to an amazing dinner.
The service was fantastic, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Montana’s Rib and Chop House for anyone craving great food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning soon!
So tonight is my Husband’s birthday. His parents flew in from out of state and took us out to dinner. He had called and made reservations for us days in advance with no issue. Even having to change the time at some point. When we get there, a few minutes early, we’re told it’ll be just a moment that theyre cleaning up our table. No problem. I tell my husband I’m going to be pretty disappointed if we’re sat at the dirty table right by the door. Which we were. Even though we gave them a heads up we got sat in one of the worst spots in the dining area. Ok fine, it is what it is. I’ll keep my jacket on and be distracted by all the incoming guests all night. Our waitress is fine, shes kind and does her job. When taking our dinner order I let her know I’m a vegetarian so I’d just like some mashed potatoes and chefs choice on some veggies grilled up please. This is my go to at places like this for decades. And this establishment is the first one unable to accommodate this request. So I had to order the side of mashed potatoes, a side of broccoli and the carrot souffle. Ok fine, I find it pretty disappointing but I can deal. Then when our meals are served, all the steaks are served on their own plates…. Ok? Idk if thats something special but it certainly looks very lackluster. And then my “meal” is 3 tiny dishes, I was going to take a photo so I could show you guys how stupid it looked but I didnt want to bring vibe of the meal down, so hopefully my family can enjoy it and I’d just grab some tacobell on the way home. Anyhow their carrot “souffle” is just sweetened mashed carrots. They’re tasty but using the word souffle is a bait and switch as they do not nearly have the consistency of a souffle at all. So my meal felt like a 1/2 cup each of 2 kinds of mash and some broccoli. Sure I could’ve got the Caesar salad but by god I just wanted something warm since we were sat next to the cold front door.
I will say my martini was good, not great but I was happy to have the Bleu cheese olives to eat so I had some semblance of diversity and flavor.
We should’ve went to cattlemans, probably wouldnt recommend this place and I doubt I’d ever volunteer to return.
The menu is pleasant and has a Southern “edginess” that this transplanted Alabama Gulf Coaster appreciates! The R&C’s gumbo was the best I’ve had since leaving the South.
I’ve had notjimg but excellent experiences at this Rib & Chop, as I did at the one in Livingston, MT (the original one), when I lived there. Great wait staff, as well. This is a nice, up-scale venue.
THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE is the NOISE! Others have mentioned
that to me, as well –great restaurant, but unnecessarily loud! Conversation is possible, but the racket is annoying. Black acoustical panels, hidden up in the ceiling, would make a world of difference in the uncomfortable decibel level of the reflected din. With the noise, it’s not a relaxing place to dine. At their prices, I would expect a quieter atmosphere that would not require so much effort to hear my tablemates.
Otherwise, I feel it’s Great Falls’ finest dining experience. Wonderful food! But please tame the noise.
