The Rib & Chop House was founded in 2001. Since our humble beginnings, we’ve opened 11 Rib & Chop House restaurants across the US flourishing in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Utah, with a Nebraska location coming soon. Our ability to grow and achieve success has come through our commitment to “Rocky Mountain Hospitality.” This concept incorporates a casual attitude with our high-level commitment to loyalty, safety, service, and quality food. We take pride in bringing our great restaurant to exceptional small towns. At the Rib & Chop House, our goal is to create extraordinary experiences that raise the bar in each of our communities.

Food was pretty good, and we were what felt like the only customers in the whole store which was nice. Surprisingly cheap, too. I’d eat here again. I got the mussels as an appetizer, the lamb and lobster tail as the main course, while my girlfriend got the friend shrimp and the chicken tenders. We then got the smore cheesecake, the crème brûlée, and the chocolate brownie ice cream sundae as our desserts. We were happy with our food, although the server was obviously new (he still did good though).

Basically a streamlined applebeez with worse wait staff & food at twice the price. Server1 had attitude & refused to allow me to sit at restaurant side (3 minutes until it opened) so seated at bar(i dont drink). In pic you can see cook unable to count 4 minutes one side 5 on the other for medium steak. Server2 acted like I was the problem refusing the steak. Server3 was gracious and got a $20 for understanding customer service only exists at 100% not 70%. Would suggest outback around the corner

The food was okay, but overall it felt a bit underwhelming for the price—especially when it came to the steaks and appetizers. I expected a little more in terms of flavor and quality given the cost. On a positive note, the service was good and attentive, and we didn’t have to wait at all, which definitely made the experience smoother.

Server was attentive. Atmosphere was upbeat.. As for the food, the mac n cheese was barely warm. Garlic mashed pots was good. I ordered a med-rare steak for my Ceasar salad. The steak was over-cooked but the rest of the salad was good. Others in our party got the ribs and said they were OK….nothing special..

We had a great time at rib and chophouse. We’ve had other experiences in the past, but I will say this time the food was really on point. The boneless wings were juicy and not over breaded and had great flavor. We ordered the Cote D’beuf and I was such a huge portion and as beef was very tasty. All the side, exactly as they ought to be playful and delicious. We had a free app card from Adam the kitchen manager, and we were delighted by the flavor of the food and the timeliness of it. Rhonda was the most attentive server. She always anticipated what we would need and had it right there on the table for us and she was available for anything we might need. Refills we always anticipated. Thank you for bringing back your standards!

Montana’s Rib & Chop House in Bozeman is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-notch food and warm, welcoming service. We stopped in for dinner during our trip through Montana, and it was one of the culinary highlights of our journey.
The star of the meal was definitely the steak. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy, flavorful, and had that ideal charred crust that steak lovers dream of. The seasoning was spot-on, enhancing the natural richness of the meat without overpowering it. Every bite was tender and satisfying—truly one of the best steaks we’ve had in a long time.
Equally impressive was the salmon steak. It was beautifully grilled, with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. The seasoning complemented the fish perfectly, and the accompanying sides were fresh and well-prepared. It’s rare to find a place that does both steak and seafood so well, but Montana’s Rib & Chop House nails it.
The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, perfect for families, couples, or groups. The staff were attentive and friendly, offering great recommendations and making sure everything was just right. The service was quick despite the busy evening crowd. There is one seat in the corner that definitely requires some extra lighting. The server was quick to notice our discomfort and moved us to a better more well lit seating
We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you’re in Bozeman and craving a hearty, delicious meal, this place should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!

We went to dinner for my mom’s birthday on 3/3/26. Despite making a reservation at 5:15, we weren’t seated until after 5:30. After 15 minutes of sitting with no server, my husband finally got up and flagged down a waitress, who came over to the table and proceeded to tell us we were “seated in an area that they don’t normally seat guests” (the hostess sat us there). She disappeared for another 5-10 minutes before coming to take our order. We could see her talking to whom I presume was a manager, clearly trying to get out of serving that section of the restaurant. We didn’t even get waters to the table until after 6:00pm (30 minutes after we were seated). There was no silverware or napkins at the table, which a manager brought over. We had to again flag down our server for drink refills and requests for ranch/ketchup. She would always remind us that she had other tables (I know – you’re a waitress). When I ordered two kids meals to split between my three kids (to avoid waste) and asked for a third plate when I ordered, it didn’t come out for at least another 10 minutes, so I just used a side dish plate that was already on the table.
Between the terrible service and high menu prices for what is average food (Applebees comes to mind), I’m not sure why we would go back.

This is what I got as a half slab of ribs from Rib & Chop in a to go order. For what you pay – terrible.
A McRib is a better value. Very disappointed.

We have been going to Rib and Chop for a long time… My favorite is the “famous filet”, the most consistent filet I found in Montana. A family favorite is the fried green tomato appetizer with crab meat, blue cheese dressing and a balsamic reduction with lemon wedge.
We have been for dinners and lunches, taken out of town company, had celebratory meals of all sorts of casual and even a formal occasion. The kids loved it as children, tweens and teens. Not sure about vegan, but everyone we ever took found a meal that they enjoyed in an environment that was comfortable but still had the feel of a special occasion. We’ve had and enjoyed the plank salmon, chicken fingers, chicken fried steak, burgers, wings, loaded baked potatoes and much more. It has all been great and consistently well above average, usually way better than average American and steakhouse fare, and SO MUCH BETTER than national chain steakhouses at the same price point if not better. They have a good dessert selection as well.
The Bozeman location was not around when we lived here, so for years we’d go to Livingston for all the goodness, or if we were in Billings we’d stop by that location. We have since been to Colorado Springs and St. George both multiple times. Our visit this weekend to Bozeman was probably the third or fourth trip there. We have been enough times that we have seen their best, their consistently high average and only one time years ago when my medium rare was nearly blue (considering the number of times, only one disappointment that required additional cooking is probably to be expected).
It’s always a crowd pleaser.

3 of us went here for lunch. Our food was ready but the chef had to redo one of our dishes( waitress told us this) After insane wait, our food arrives and of course mine and my husband’s is totally cold while only the redone dish is hot. My shrimp skewers were so plain! Not a drop of any kind of sauce or even a drop of butter. The most plain and boring dish I have ever had in a restaurant. There are better restaurants in this town.
