Very nice place, feels like home! Had a great time! Great service, tasty fish and clam strips! Their tarter sauce was some of the best I have ever had!! I have never been able to eat much of it without it tasting sour, but I finished this one off. Your have to try the clam chowder also!!

Good fish and chips, good portions. Small establishment, not many tables so difficult of busy. Wait time was not long. Hearty fish pieces, great French fries (really good). Chowder was nice and hot, above average although you can tell not home made. Friendly staff, quaint little place, I do recommend .

I really wanted to like this place, I was disappointed on the fish & chips I ordered.
Fish was dry & hard, the french fries were soggy. Both are frozen.
Employees are very nice. They did give me a free cup of clam chowder.

Option of gluten-free cod, shrimp, and fries in dedicated fryer. GF batter is also egg-free & dairy-free and items made off-site to prevent cross-contamination. Comes with coleslaw & tartar sauce (not egg-free) and lemon wedge. If order shrimp then also comes with cocktail sauce.
Gluten-free kid’s meal comes with drinks and small nautical themed toy.

Monroe Fish and Chips has the vibes of an ocean-front fish and chips spot with the decor. All that was missing were the ocean air smell, seagulls, and, oh yeah, the ocean. I loved the decor inside. You order at a counter, then they bring the food out to your table. The staff checked in regularly to see if anything else was needed.
The staff was friendly and the order came out fast. I had the 3 piece cod fish and chips. They also have gluten-free cod fish and chips from a dedicated fryer, so this is a great place for those with Celiac.
The food was excellent and good portions. I definitely will return, especially since they gave me a coupon for a discount on my next visit.
They also have an outside seating area in the back.

10/10 Would recommend. I got the 2 piece fish and chips. Perfectly golden, crunchy, and just really good. It comes with coleslaw (also good) and tartar. And then the side of clam chowder was creamy, chunky, and delicious! If I was local, this would be my go-to for just that. On a hunt for my favorite clam chowder, this is top 5. Sweet little mom and pop joint. You won’t be disappointed!

Nice folks and they have gluten-free fish, chips, and shrimp – all done in a separate fryer! You have no idea how happy it makes me to be able to order this GF and not worry about getting sick. The rest of my family (who can eat gluten) really liked theirs, too. We will be back.

I guess if you’ve never had fish and chips before you might like it but you should know it’s better literally anywhere else. Not trying to be mean but it’s just not good food everything is so cheap bland and disappointing even the cookies are bad. Try it if you want but I feel like I wasted my money I wasn’t expecting fast food quality slop from a stand alone shop with good reviews some how.

It’s been a while since I’ve had some fish and chips. After hiking in Gold Bar, my friend and I planned to stop by Monroe Fish and Chips since it’s on the way back. It’s a really small and cozy spot to grab some grub. Coming inside you can really see the nautical theme throughout the place which was a nice touch.
I had the combo meal which was a combination of two pieces of seafood, I opted for cod and clams along with my fries and coleslaw. Whatever seasoning they use, it’s just the right amount and my combo basket was so delicious! Perfect amount of crisp for both the seafood and fries. Since I opted for clams, they did provide me with some cocktail sauce on the side. They definitely have me wanting to try the shrimp for my next visit.
I think they give the right amount of food in comparison with some places loading up on the fries to makeup for lack of fish. Also all the right condiments such as vinegar, tabasco, and ketchup is at each table along with napkin bins.
The worker at the cashier was very friendly and I could see she was making sure everyone was enjoying her meal.
Definitely try and support this place if you’re ever in the area!
