They took family style dining to the next level! We were seated with 6 random people before the feast begun so it was all chatty and made us feel comfortable. They immediately brought fried chicken, pot roast and multiple sides including corn bread, green beans, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy for the table to share. Everything was DELICIOUS! Better than we hoped for. The service was top notch too! Everyone was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

OK, maybe our most favorite place to eat in Nashville. We went for breakfast and it was like eating in someone’s house. They sit you at large dining room style tables in beautifully furnished rooms. You’re seated with other guests and everything is served family style. We didnt know that was how it worked so weren’t sure what to expect. It was fun and lively, meeting nice people and hearing about their visit and plans. The food was great. Endless supply of delicious biscuits, gravy, cheese grits, fried chicken, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, corn pudding, coffee, and sweet tea. They bring big servings of everything that are passed around the table by the guests and they’ll bring as much as you like if you finish a platter. It was an absolute delight to be there.

Reputation for being one of the best restaurants in Nashville, and I have to say it lived up to the hype! We went for breakfast, and it was fantastic. Basically it’s all you can eat buffet style, but with communal seating. Everything was so good and they were so many different things to try. And they’re famous Fried chicken is available all the time, even at breakfast! I can only imagine how good lunch and dinner must be. Next time we come to Nashville, we’ll be going again.

Loved the food and the communal dining experience. The fried chicken and fried catfish were delicious, along with all the sides. As a tourist traveling with a small group, it was nice to be able to try so many of the classic Southern dishes and to meet other travelers and local diners.

We visited Monell’s for breakfast as a part of our Family Reunion. It was outstanding… we returned to Cleveland Ohio and are still talking about our meal. Loved the environment, food and service. What a bargain…less than $15.00 for the meal.

Beautiful building and outdoor seatings! They provide a buffet style of eating experience but if you just want to a take-out like I did, you could just order a box of food and sit outside. The food was decent and not expensive at all. Very nice place to grab a lunch and relax when you visit the capital mall.

The fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy were delicious! We were seated after everyone began to eat already. It was a bit awkward as groups for chat had already been established well into their conversations and meal. We had never been there before and weren’t told how things worked but figured it out. We had to try to catch up on food and before we knew staff was clearing plates. Most of our table got up to leave but we had just arrived. Total time in the restaurant was about 20 minutes. It does say that if you leave hungry it is your own fault but they were packed and lots of people waiting so I think everyone was just in a hurry that day. If I could have changed anything, I would have been seated with a group all at the same time and not be placed at a table that was already half done with the meal. We did leave unsatisfied but I would definitely give it another chance if in Tennessee again. We know how it works now. The pics posted were after dinner was eaten as new table was set for more people.

Really good food, great atmosphere, & nice meeting new people, from different places. It’s a different experience. The wait is long & we’ll worth it.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem this morning and I’m so glad I did. Very friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. Took us straight in to a table with two groups who were waiting to be seated. Had an amazing server, he went above and beyond for us all. Food was 10 out of 10. If you leave here hungry, that’s your fault because there is absolutely no reason to. Price is not bad for the amount of food you get and the quality of food as well. I will definitely come here as this is now one of my favorite places to eat

What are you doing with your life if you don’t hit up Monell’s in Nashville?! Everything about this unique restaurant is amazing, but I’d like to highlight the bbq pulled pork as this caught me by surprise to be some of the best pulled pork I’ve had in a while. We will be back!
