We made reservations for dinner after our courthouse wedding and we were treated like royalty. Our friends and family had a wonderful time! The food, the service, the atmosphere, etc. Just perfect.
Staff were so unbelievably kind. They served deliciously bubbly champagne for all of us while we waited for our table and provided a decadent dessert on the house. They spoke on the history of the restaurant and hotel which us history buffs enjoyed.
The decor was just beautiful. The everyday decor and the seasonal as well. We loved taking some pictures in front of the Christmas tree.
I highly recommend this restaurant for any celebration or just a simple dinner. You will not be disappointed!
We started off with the charcuterie board appetizer. It was visually appealing but for the $24 price tag we all agreed it was alright but not something we would get again. Unfortunately our steaks also came out not at the temperatures we had requested. Sadly our service was another low point. This was surprising since the restaurant was fairly empty. Despite the majority of the gorgeous interior having empty tables, we were seated next to a dirty rag/silverware station rather than the beautiful empty booths while walking to the bathroom. Our server was hard to find and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things such as water refills. To top things off, there was zero music which felt quite awkward.
For a bill that totaled over $350, we expected a much better dining experience. With the abundance of restaurants in the area, I would not recommend Monarch.
The prices seemed reasonable, the menu is varied enough to guarantee something for everyone, and the atmosphere was really lovely. Great art deco design with a nice ambience. The seating was comfortable. Food and drinks were provided with good timing.
The service was subpar. Appetizers were brought to the table by the expo without plates and our server never not followed-up after they were delivered. After several moments we needed to ask someone else for plates.
Ordered soup never arrived.
Our meals were delivered by the expo and our server didn’t return to our table to check on our entrees, to check on us, see if we needed anything else, etc..
Our finished plates weren’t cleared until well after we finished.
The meals were fine. All of the proteins were cooked well, but the dishes lacked the flavorful experience we were expecting. Very straightforward
I do not recommend Monarch.
Will be back for sure
Truthfully, I was pleasantly surprised. They had a great wine selection which is always key, and they brought us a better vintage than what was on the menu, so we were off to a good start. I got the charcuterie, the short rib and the poached pear dessert. All were well integrated dishes. Wished for a bit more options, may be a special, but I appreciate that what they did have they made well and with great technique and attention to ingredients.
I really don’t like it when we have to choose our sides, so often that feels like an afterthought, so in a town of steakhouses this place does a good job at presenting thoughtful dishes.
