Monarch Burger, born and bred in East Van has a permanent home on Main St. We are a small, locally owned and operated, burger restaurant. We specialize in simple burgers, really great fries and poutines, served to go, or dine in on our patio, inside Monarch Burger, or sit in Uncle Abe’s next door and enjoy a crafted cocktail or local beer.

This place is awesome. It is located right next to Uncle Abe’s, a bar, and they also share their seating area.
The menu is quite tiny, not a big selection of food either. We ordered the dirty burger combo and it was absolutely delicious! The smash burger had great flavor and super juicy. The fries were also very delicious! Plus a canned drink as well. Because it was shared seating with the bar next door, a server would come by to ask for drink orders as well.
Not much service, but it was fine. We were there to try out the burgers and we were satisfied.

A new restaurant in the neighbourhood, I tried this place on a whim and was pleasantly happy with the burger and fries! I ordered a dirty burger with the smoky house fries and overall it was a decent good burger.
The burger was very delicious, seasoned and the bun was toasted which made it quite tasty! The house sauce was good, but I wish there was a bit more though!
The fries were quite good. I enjoyed having fries cooked in beef fat, they really do bring out a different kind of flavouring and it had a hint of smokiness which I enjoyed and they were peppery.
Overall, this new spot is a solid place for decent burgers and fries. For 22$ the pricing is pretty average for lunch. I was happy with the experience and will definitely try different menu items the next time I visit.

Absolutely love this spot, fantastic experience, burger not too wet, not too dry, doesn’t slip when squeezed, perfect amount of food doesn’t leave you feeling bloated or gross. Ingredients taste high quality and GOOD LORD the beef tallow makes the fries taste creamy as hell, beer is brewed by Powell, feels like a true hole-in-the-wall proud East Van establishment. Uncle Abe’s being next door for drinks is ideal, monarchs dining space has some to be desired, overall must try. Dare I say best Burger on Main Street. Oh and $20, Burger, Beer, and Fries is one hellofa value especially in this economy.

Customer service: 5⭐ Really friendly customer service! Loved the guy at the front that was really kind to explain to me what a double dirty burger was.
Food: I ordered a double dirty burger and a poutine for $17 and $12. Burger does not have mayonnaise which I find kinda bizarre, it had some sort of white sauce miracle whip thing. It did not have much flavour and it made the overall burger lack flavour and depth. The patties were low on salt and I loved that as one gets to enjoy the beef more! The buns were pretty good and I understand it’s done that way to cut costs and not charge higher prices.
I would highly recommend to have a house mayonnaise with a garlic infused oil or something that will make the burger pop. The poutine tasted very odd and it was a small portion for $12. But on my way home I finished most of it so it does grow on you. Wasn’t a fan of the cheese either. 3⭐
Overall, I’d recommend someone walking by to try it out if you got less than 20 bucks to spend

The veggie burger is not good as expected in simple terms not cooked well and lack of taste along with juiciness especially when the Bun was absolutely cold. This is not complaint towards anyone just simply some improvement needed in my opinion and may adding chicken burger option in the menu could be great for chicken lovers. The staff was good though and service was wonderful too. I wish i could have just a better burger that’s it. Thanks

This little hole in the wall has the goods. Excellent burgers, get the dirty double. The fries are a MUST. Fairly priced, nice patio. Patties that are juicy, flavourful and fresh. I will be back…SOON. Me and my chef friends love it here. Top notch. House made veggie patty was great too.

Very high meat quality, the perfect grind, thicker burgers and fresh toppings. They have an attentive staff that are willing to make custom burgers (within reason). If you like a thicker pub style burger this is your new go to on Main Street. Added bonus there’s a kick ass bar next door that they work with. Can I get a hell yea for burger and beers! 10/10 this place has become a weekly get for me.

We tried the classic burger and we really enjoyed it. The patty was juicy, it wasn’t loaded with sauce (bravo!), there was a good amount of lettuce, and their homemade pickles were good (and I usually hate them).
13$ for that burger it’s an ok price. Fries are not included, but were very good.
