Great food and great portions! The tortilla was soft and fresh, the rice was delicious, the meat was tender, and the other sauces in the burrito really sent the burrito to the next level. I went through the drive through midday on a workday. No line. Next time I come I’ll have to dine in to get the full experience. There was more than enough parking. I ordered a medium black coffee and an Adobada Burrito Supreme and it was about $15. The burrito supreme came with a handful of tortilla chips and a small cup of salsa. I received my food quickly and was on my way. Service was brief interactions at the window. If you don’t know about this or aren’t paying attention you would never know this place is there. It’s right after the bend at 13th and McGilchrist. I would definitely come back.

I spent 50 years in Los Angeles before moving to Salem. And I miss good, properly prepared, Mexican cuisine. This is now my spot. This is a family run place; the cooks are always the same and create LA/Baja style Mexican. Simple, clean, delicious. This places satisfies my craving and makes life in Salem for an ex Angelino palatable.

I’m from Southern California and I am lucky enough to drive by Monarca often. This place is amazing! The Machacha plate and the chorizo breakfast burritos are .Family run with great food and better service. If you’re in the area get over and enjoy!!

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant for breakfast in Salem. Their breakfast burrito and chorizo plate are top tier. Their service, impeccable.
The best part – their red/habanero hot sauce. It’s spicy but I drown everything in it.

Been coming here for a while now. This place is very consistent, good and has indoor seating.

It’s nice to get a breakfast burrito under $10 that is tasty/filling and not saturated with grease… keep up the good work
Ask for the verde if you have a low spice tolerance, the red sauce which I think is a crema is a 7/10 for me.

A small Mexican grill, but the food is good. I went here for lunch, and it was pretty empty when I got there just after noon, but became pretty busy as I ate. Not bad, but $8.50 for the soft taco combo (two street style tacos, rice, and beans) might be a little pricey for what you get however.

Have been here a few times for their lunch/dinner selections – spoiler, their Carne Asada is AMAZING! .. but the fact that we hadn’t wrote a review before for Monarca is on us sonwe decided to write one on their breakfast selections!
We got one of their bacon burrito and a chorizo burrito, and got extra potatoes in each one which was an extra $.50 per burrito. These are their smalls – for $5.50 ($6 with potatoes) it was the size of a large burrito everywhere else which was crazy to us! The chorizo was well seasoned and tasty but the bacon burrito was hands down one of the best breakfast burritos we’ve ever had. The bacon was firm but soft and mashed with the entire burrito – it just sang in your mouth.
Hands down would recommend Monarca for a quick bite – breakfast OR lunch! Give them a try, they’ll change the way you think about quick Mexican food!

Food was good, but I felt on the smaller portion size. Order chips and salsa but it came with guacamole and beans on top of it.. just fyi.
