They sell absolute garbage sushi. Whoever thinks their sushi is good has no standards. The fish was just flabby (or mushy) as if it had sat in the freezer for months and was only just thawed for serving. The rice was not seasoned properly. It was just normal white rice. Worse yet, one piece of sushi was sour, as if it were spoiled.

We ordered fried rice and steak, it was white rice and tiny bits of steak. Very bland and not good at all. We get gyoza from the store that was fresher than the appetizer of it that we had. The sushi rolls we got fell apart as we tried to pick them up and did not taste well. I only ate one because I knew the quality of the ingredients would make me sick. It was over priced, way over priced especially for the quality. We went to pay and was informed not to tip because the tips go straight to the manager not the server. Our server was very kind during our experience. What a shame on the establishment to not let the servers have the tips. I wish I had taken more photos of the sushi and gyozas to show I am not exaggerating at all.

Bathrooms were also so nasty, no one was in there but us which should have been a red flag but we stayed. No music, complete silence.

I would not recommend AT ALL. Wasted over $100 for us to leave and get something else to eat since we did not eat the food.

I recently dined at this sushi restaurant that truly impressed me with its quality and freshness. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The sushi itself was exceptional; each piece was crafted with care, showcasing vibrant colors and pristine presentation.

The fish tasted incredibly fresh, melting in my mouth with each bite. I particularly enjoyed the variety of rolls available, each offering unique flavors that complemented one another beautifully. The ingredients were clearly of high quality, and it was evident that the chefs take pride in their work.

Overall, I highly recommend this sushi restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. The combination of fresh ingredients, skilled preparation, and a welcoming environment makes it a must-visit for sushi lovers!

I am truly disappointed in this place. I came to Momoya for the first time for a last minute dinner effort. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba on DoorDash, my mistake. As soon as i placed the order, it was confirmed and ready within seconds of each other. Living in the neighborhood i walked over and i was met with another customer waiting in the lobby area. The customer told me they had been waiting for 30 minutes for someone to give them their food. This instantly annoyed me so i rang the bell at the counter and nobody comes out. I go pass the bar area to see if anyone is even working and an older man comes out and ask me my name. I tell him my name and he says i need to show him an order confirmation. I show him the messages that state the order was placed, confirmed and ready. He immediately tells me he can’t read (he put glasses on seconds before and didn’t try to read it) so again annoyed i immediately just ask for a refund. As we speak his tone is off. He walks away and goes to the back towards the order computer, i follow asking for a refund. He points to the computer and says is this your order and i say yes. I keep asking for a refund because at this point I’m not wanting to give this business my money. The older man doesn’t refund me nor cancel the order, he tells me i have to do that through DoorDash, which isn’t necessarily true. Restaurants have the ability to cancel the order, he just didn’t want to. I know this because i use to drive for DoorDash over the summer. Also, on the DoorDash site for their restaurant, if you go to “get help” it just gives you the restaurant number to call for any concerns. There’s no DoorDash number on there. So again, they had the ability to cancel and didn’t so i called the police because your not going to keep my money. He pleaded with police and told them he couldn’t give me a refund and that it’s through DoorDash which again is a lie. I will be disputing this with the bank. In my opinion, don’t eat here. If a restaurant can’t even give you a refund/cancel the order after requested then that’s not a restaurant you should give your hard earn money to. As a black person living in Memphis, i noticed with owners from different ethnic backgrounds tend to be rude and have an off-putting energy towards their black customers and i don’t believe we should continue to give our money to people that do not like us nor care to respect us enough as customers. You are in the blackest city in the US, if you don’t like us why even be here? Even the officers said the food wasn’t even that great so just save yourself the time and energy.

We stopped by to pick up a to-go order and unfortunately had a frustrating experience with the staff member assisting us. Despite my friend having the confirmation pulled up, he repeatedly asked for “proof of order” and insisted we had ordered through DoorDash, even though our order was placed directly on the restaurant’s website. As we were leaving, he continued referencing DoorDash, which made the whole interaction feel unprofessional and unnecessarily difficult.

Once we simply stated what we ordered, he finally handed over the food — but unfortunately, the food itself didn’t redeem the experience. The quality was disappointing, and the spicy mayo in particular had an off taste that made it hard to enjoy the meal.

Overall, both the service and the food left a lot to be desired.

Ate here during a trip to Memphis and it was ok. It was late at night and the restaurant wasn’t busy so we were seated quickly and attended to adequately during our visit. The fried crawfish tails were really good but the spring rolls seemed undercooked. My sushi was good but it wasn’t as cold as I expected. Overall it was ok, wouldn’t be my first choice but would go if somebody else wanted to.

The food here is…not good. I hope that they figure out their kitchen situation, because the interior of the space is actually really cool, and the wait staff are kind and accommodating. They have private rooms you can book for events with gorgeous stained glass in there. I would totally book the space for an event, but I would probably bring outside food if I did.

Ordered sushi and dumplings. Sadly, It was not very good. Sushi: More rice than filling and hard to eat in one bite. Dumplings: Not full cooked and seemed microwaved (not fresh to order). Would not recommend.

Atmosphere was nice and seemed to be in a good spot.

*** We were LITERALLY the only ones being served inside and outside. To the point that the server was standing outside watching us eat; which was kinda weird and uncomfortable. That should’ve been a red flag for us. I noticed there was 1 to go order during the whole time we were there. Bottom line…There’s no excuse for prepping a dish so poorly whether extremely busy or completely dead, like this night. (Management should feel free to view the cameras or receipts for that night , to confirm this statement.) Do better.

I like restaurant w good service which they had, but food here was absolute garbage. Three of us ordered different things (wings w diff flavors, fried catfish, & fries). All of them were so tasteless and poorly done. I’m Asian myself so I initially thought of getting sushi or their “Asian” menu but after I looked at the descriptions and pics posted I could simply tell it can’t be good. (I wouldn’t have even came in if the rest of the party wasnt so hungry and just wanted to walk in)

It was so bad I had to stop by Starbucks to get a breakfast sandwich.

Service was good though, our server was very sweet.

Another thing, they charge you 15% mandatory service charge THEN ask for tips. Unsure if it’s a Memphis thing but since my bill was very small I just paid it.
