I was hesitant with the negative reviews on here with the AYCE experience but ours was great! It was ~$34 each IIRC for AYCE. We had 6 rolls and some nigiri between the 2 of us and we were very full. There some very creative rolls on the menu and everything but the crab nigiri we found very tasty. If we had ordered everything a la carte it would of been easily $100+ total.
There is no local seafood on the menu but if you’re looking for a lot of sushi for an affordable price in Newport I would highly recommend it!
The prices are great (more affordable than other locations, so that will keep us coming back more frequently!), the food was fresh and tasty, the service was kind and prompt, and we loved the all of the decor, especially the whale painting. Our kids always get avocado sushi, chicken katsu, and edamame, my husband and I always get rolls, sake, and beer.
This Momiji also has boba drinks which is awesome!
My one and only suggestion is to make sure all servers know to bring sake cups with the sake! 🙂 Cheers!
My group did the All You Can Eat option, and it’s insane how far your money goes with that option. It’s $33.95, and that’s easily the price of a drink, appetizer, and a roll or two. I hope they never get rid of it or change it.
I will forever eat here when visiting Newport. I hardly write reviews, and I just had to rave about this location.
Absolute trash service. We came in ready to spend $100 on food and walked out disgusted.
My wife tried to ask a simple question about an item on the menu. Before she could even finish, the blonde employee talked right over her — rambling about items my wife wasn’t even asking about. Never let her get a word in. Then, without answering her question, she just walked away and left my wife standing there in line like she didn’t exist. Didn’t even acknowledge her. And this was while ignoring phone calls on top of it.
No apology. No “one moment.” Nothing.
This is not a customer service issue — this is a basic human decency issue. My wife was treated like she was invisible and her question didn’t matter. The staff is disrespectful and management clearly sets the tone because this kind of behavior doesn’t happen in places that actually hold their employees accountable.
We took our money and went to Thai Port Cafe, where they actually know how to treat people.
