The history of the food molasses is intertwined with the history of the south. Made into rum, barbecue sauce, and used as a sweetener in many, many southern dishes—molasses has left its dark mark on southern cuisine.
At Molasses, we’re part of the new school of southern barbecue. Since man discovered fire, barbecue has been part of every culture in the world.

I’m not sure if the food or the service was more impressive. Olivia P. provided outstanding service, making sure we had everything we needed with a smile and a great sense of humor. The food is off the charts delicious! They have some of the best dill potato salad I’ve ever eaten, with the perfect amount of mayonnaise, salt, and dill. With just the right amount of sweetness from molasses, their baked beans were wonderful. The star, of course, was the smoked meat. The bark on the brisket and pulled pork may be a gift from heaven, and the meat is smoked perfectly. If I had to choose something that could improve, it would be to put sound deadening in the ceiling because it’s very noisy inside. Regardless, I highly recommend Molasses Smokehouse for an experience you’ll want to repeat.

This was our first time at Molasses in downtown Midland. It was amazing!! The atmosphere was great. We loved it so much on night 1 of our stay at the H Hotel, that we went back on night 2 for more! They have a lot of Gluten Free options and the food was absolutely delicious. The appetizer Loaded Tots was our favorite! Olivia P. was such a nice friendly server! We will definitely be returning Highly recommend!!

Restaurant atmosphere was pretty good, setup nice and the staff were very friendly and outgoing. Great to speak to and had great service. The food didnt match that tho. I got the BBQ mac and cheese with brisket. The brisket was cold and dry, not the end of the world but still pretty disappointed. There wasn’t much Mac and cheese in that bowl either so overall that dish wasn’t so great. Not sure why the mac and cheese had Pico de gallo tbh, go figure lol. Wife got the 2 meat plate with brisket and Texas red hot sausage. The sausage was great and the brisket served on her plate was much better and so much more juicer. Sides were great too, coleslaw and their fire roasted corn was very good. I’d say the $28 for her plate was well worth it. $24 for BBQ Mac and cheese didnt really live up to the name or price. Drinks were good too.

We tried the brisket and smoked turkey breast — both were tender, flavorful, and clearly smoked to perfection. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, the loaded tots were packed with flavor, and even the side salad was fresh and well done. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food here. We’ll definitely be back!

We stopped by for a late dinner on a Friday evening and had no wait to be seated. I enjoyed my three-meat dinner of brisket, smoked salmon, and sausage. My sides were baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The beans were good, but the mac and cheese weren’t creamy and were flat. My son had the brisket macaroni and cheese, which he didn’t enjoy. He said the brisket was flat and dry, chewy and overcooked. He said it did not look or taste like the brisket on my platter. I would also like to see cloth napkins, wet wipes, and sides served in ceramic bowls, not cheap paper trays.
Indoor/outdoor seats, a full bar, and overpriced beers and cocktails. Uninspired service. Extremely loud. My ears hurt like I had just left a concert. I’ve been here before and enjoyed the meat platter, but we will pass on the brisket macaroni and cheese next time and come when it is less noisy.

My daughter and I went here for her birthday day. The food was delicious, and our server was excellent. We got the wings for an appetizer, and they were so good!! We chose the three meat platter for two, and there was enough to fill us up, and we still had leftovers! Ashley got the apple cobbler for her birthday dessert and shared with me, and it was awesome!! Oh yeah, and the maple old fashioned is pretty damn good, too!!

Our server Eric (I swear that was his name, sorry if I’m wrong) was so amazing! We walked in tonight with a party of 7 with less than an hour time limit as we had an event to get to. He took the challenge on yet still conversed, joked, and laughed with us through the rushing. We ordered at 6:18 and were out the door by 6:55. Our food was perfect! I couldn’t get over how awesome everything tasted. Best brisket and cornbread. Great job to our server & the kitchen staff. Thanks for adding to our wonderful night and helping it run smoothly!

The Texas Trail Hand Tacos are the best tacos I have ever had. Today I drove from Farwell to Midland and then to Harrison so my dad could also experience them. My dad, who is 85 and has been to 47 states and 3 countries, said they are the best tacos he has ever had. I don’t think I’ve ever left a review but y’all deserve it.

We really enjoyed the beans! The brisket was slightly dry but still tasty. Service was solid and friendly. I liked that they have multiple sauces on the table to try. I’ll be back!

It’s a quaint little BBQ place. Prices are medium to high. But well worth it. You choose the BBQ sauce you want. 6 to choose from. Picture is the apple cobbler.
