Mola serves huge portions for an authentic Japanese spot—everything is flown in from Japan.

I eat Mola once a week for lunch. I took my wife, who was visiting, and she was genuinely surprised. We’ve eaten at multiple Michelin omakase and sushi restaurants in the $300–$1,000 per person range, and Mola’s food is right up there.

We’ve also tried nearly every sushi/Japanese place around Pittsburgh, usually $250–$300 for two. Mola easily beats them all. The others at the same price point as Mola, is all borderline inedible because we’re really picky on food quality when it comes to raw fish.

Finally, the best sign of a great restaurant isn’t how Instagram-ready the plates look—it’s how clean those plates are when you’re done. Mola doesn’t waste time making food for photos. They put their money where it matters: taste. We leave every plate completely cleaned because that’s how good the food is.

The food came out fast and the salmon and tuna toro were absolutely incredible. Fatty, fresh, and melts in your mouth- what more could you ask for ?! Great price for the quality and if there are no tables available for walk in, sitting at the bar is just as special of an experience Also, Our bartender/ waiter Jericho was so helpful and patient when it came to ordering.

What a fun little spot! Here from out of town and was highly recommended, and amazingly only 600ft from my hotel. I had a variety of different nigiri and everything was perfect. The temperature and freshness of the fish was amazing, the rice was perfectly seasoned, just 10/10. Jude was an incredible server and took such good care of my mom and I, he had great energy!! Next time I find myself in the area I’ll 100% come back. Their website says reservations encouraged but not required but I’m glad I made one, they were super busy (which also means the locals love them too!)

If you’re craving sushi, I highly recommend Mola! The rolls are large, fresh, and absolutely delicious! Living in Upstate NY, I don’t often get access to high-quality sushi, so this really hit the spot!

While waiting for our pickup order, I enjoyed some hot sake and appreciated how kind and quick the service was. I ordered the salmon avocado roll and the yellowtail scallion roll—both were excellent! I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m in town!

I ate here back in December 2021 (very overdue review) and had the uni chirashi and a sea bream and truffle pate roll. They were both so good and sent me to HEAVEN so hard that I’ve literally been looking at property in Pittsburgh ever since so I can move there and have Mola everyday (I’m not joking; I live in California). Please never go out of business!!!

Heard great things about Mola, and did not disappoint. Probably the best bang-for-your-buck sushi place in Pittsburgh. Considering the freshness of the sushi, it only came out to be $25-30 per person. Much more reasonably priced than alternative sushi places like Golden Gai or Gi-jin.

Given the price point and quality, Mola is pretty popular so this place can fill up especially because the restaurant is not too large. It can get noisy and a bit crowded. I would recommend coming off peak hours or reserving in advance.

Sushi rolls are about 6 piece for like $10-14. Their Chirashi is $27 but small portioned.

Mola is amazing! Great flavors not experienced anywhere else and huge pieces which leaves you filled and happy.

Note: their website has pictures for every food item which is perfect.

Got the:
Crispy chicken bao 10/10
Pork belly bao 10/10
Steak bao 10/10
Bluefin with truffles
Spicy scallops
Blue crab
Crispy spicy tuna
Shrimp tempura with avocado and cucumber
And a couple more that I don’t remember now

All sushi rolls were great! Other than the bao buns, no use in recommending specific rolls here, get whatever feels good to you and I guarantee a good time!
