I recently visited Modern Bread and Bagel and was genuinely impressed with the quality of their gluten-free offerings. As someone who knows how tough it can be to find truly good gluten-free baked goods, this spot has definitely made it into my top five.

I ordered the glazed brioche donut and the cinnamon raisin bagel. The donut was a standout—the glaze was just right, sweet but not overpowering, and the donut itself had a lovely flavor. It was slightly cakey, but not in a way that made it feel like I was just eating cake in a donut shape.

The cinnamon raisin bagel was also delicious. I really enjoyed the tricolor raisins and the hint of cinnamon—it struck a nice balance between sweet and subtle. The texture was a bit dense, and while I wouldn’t call it a classic bagel, it still hit the spot. Toasted with a little dairy-free butter, it was fabulous.

The staff were very friendly, and service was fast—I waited about five minutes total. I paid $11.45 for both items, which felt fair for the quality.

One piece of constructive feedback: I wasn’t a fan of the bagels being displayed openly. While the hanging setup is cute and part of the shop’s charm, I’d feel more comfortable with some kind of cover, especially with people walking in and out.

All in all, I’m looking forward to going back and trying more from their menu. Highly recommend for anyone on the hunt for gluten-free baked goods that don’t compromise on taste.

Modern is literally gluten-free heaven. The bagels are unbelievable — you honestly can’t tell they’re gluten-free at all. The texture, the flavor, everything is spot on. And the desserts? Each one is better than the last. There are so many options that it’s hard to choose, and every single thing I’ve tried has been amazing. It’s such a relief to find a place where you don’t feel limited and can actually enjoy everything on the menu. Truly my favorite place and one I’ll keep going back to.

The Cinnamon French Toast Sticks with coconut is a must have. Everything is gluten free, which is the place to be for anyone with a gluten allergy or not. Cute place to sit down & have breakfast or brunch!

Incredible food and service. Donuts and bagels are the best I’ve had gluten free. Absolutely delicious. Parking can be rough, but no fault of the business. Even on a weekday at noon, there is a line and with the small waiting area, the line can be challenging. Would not recommend bringing a stroller into the location. Staff are super nice! So happy I don’t have to travel to Manhattan anymore

I ordered a bagel with a matcha and the total came out to 25 dollars. so I was expecting a high-quality breakfast instead I got a water down Matcha with a Very small clumpy amount of cold foam. The Bagel was so difficult to eat, even though the Burrata cheese was good. I would say to skip this place and avoid the social media hype because it’s not a good spot. The staff were nice, but the quality of the products was below par by a country Mile

Came here back in September and had the best gluten free bagel I’ve ever had. It was heavenly. So I bought a dozen and flew them home across the country. On my flight back I got violently ill. Over the course of the next week I remained sick and ate some of the bagels as a comfort food. Only when I stopped eating the bagels and froze the rest did I start to get better, but I didn’t think much of it. I took one out of the freezer this week and shortly after eating it, I got violently ill again. 10/10 for the bagel taste and texture but won’t be going back.

I was shocked by how much I loved my sesame Rivington bagel and iced latte. The bagel itself is delicious, it’s hard to believe they are all gluten free. The lox sandwich was perfectly seasoned, the onion was very thinly sliced and not overpowering, and every bite was honestly perfect. The coffee is not too strong or weak. It was also, perfect. Haha, I’m rarely excited by what I eat these days. Go and enjoy!

GREED!!!!!!!!!!!! In my entire life I have never had a bagel with butter cost $6.95. That is beyond egregious. I live in Tenafly and a bagel with butter any kind of bagel is $2.25, my business is in Brooklyn where the bagels literally and figuratively blow away the bagels at this establishment. Even in Manhattan a bagel and butter never exceeds $3.00. The irony here is the bagels are plain ordinary variety which is far from extraordinary except of course the ungodly price which is extraordinary. Plus charging an exorbitant $3.20 for a “smear” of butter is indeed in line with GREED. Your bagels may cater to gluten intolerant but anybody who tolerates those prices must definitely think about $$$$ with NO SENSE.

Super cute spot, but the service is terrible. They need a better system. We waited 15 minutes for an Americano and a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Ridiculous
