First time here. Thought Pepe’s was incredible, but this?! Wow! The crust is everything. Thin, crispy, flavorful and chewy. Charred just right. Flavors on point. For those health conscious folks, the veggie bomb was so good! Thicker crust, fresh veggies, and not greasy.

The Connecticut’s iconic clam pizza is an absolute must-order from Modern Apizza. The thin, crisp crust serves as the perfect base for generous portions of fresh clams, briny and tender, with just the right balance of chew and char. Expertly executed, thank you for making it a great first time memorable experience. Friendly, attentive staff too.

Tried Modern Pizza for the first time and ordered the garlic bread, bruschetta, Margherita pie, and Veggie Bomb pie — everything tasted really good! The flavors were fresh and balanced, and the crust was perfectly baked.

We did have to wait about 45 minutes for our order, but the food was worth it in the end. Definitely a spot I’d come back to for good quality pizza and appetizers.

If u enjoy good pizza, this place will not disappoint. The Italian Bomb has EVERYTHING! The taste was spot on, and the crust, OMG, best crust ever! I could honestly go around tables eating anyone’s crust left behind; it’s that good!
(Went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was full but I got a table right away and waited 15 mins for my pizza to arrive)

This was the second place I visited during my little pizza tour this past weekend. It took a bit longer to get a table as I waited for about 1/2 hour after putting my name down on the waiting list.

The staff here is nice. My server Christine was friendly, attentive and helpful. Since I couldn’t decide on what kind of pie to get she suggested I get half of two different toppings. So I ordered half broccoli and half chicken. Since the place was packed, I didn’t have too much of a wait time to get my order.

The pizza itself is really good. I actually rated this a bit higher than the previous place I visited. I give Modern Apizza a 8.8 out of 10, just because I liked that the pizza was cooked perfectly where the crust wasn’t too hard and it had a nice taste of garlic, where some people might get turned off.

The restaurant itself is clean, they have a decent menu with reasonable pricing, serves alcohol (beer and wine) and has a good sized parking lot.

Now that the college kids are back in school I expect this place to get busier as this really is a good spot to grab a bite to eat.

First time trying the famous Connecticut-style thin pizza, especially the one with clams — and it was surprisingly very good!

The crust was thin and crispy, and the flavors were excellent. Definitely a unique and delicious experience. Highly recommend!

I visited Modern Apizza on the same day I compared it to Frank Pepe and Sally’s, and overall, it was a decent experience but a bit overrated for me. The pizza is simple, with very little sauce, and the dough is thicker compared to the other two New Haven classics.
The flavor was okay, but it didn’t stand out next to the others. Not a bad pizza, just not as impressive as the rankings suggest.

Super busy! Had line out the front of the building to wait but we only waited about 30 min to be seated. Good local beer selection. Amazing New Haven apizza! Pickled pepper pizza was probably my favorite bc it tastes maybe cheddary and I love pickled peppers but the clam with white sauce and the veggie with added anchovy were delectable!! Not too thin crust still structurally sound and elastic in a good way. Very friendly responsive staff even considering how busy they were

We got a small pizza for takeout from this famous pizza spot. Very good pizza overall. The cheese has a unique taste to it, the crust was nice and crunchy. The dining portion of the space was packed and there was a waiting queue, and I can see why. Good quality food and service.

In a short Pizza Tour of New Haven, we were excited to try Modern. I admit a bias for NY pizza, but was stunned by just how burnt this pizza was. Even the sauce had a charcoal flavor. The crust was black. Not sure why people are flocking here.
