This place has been a staple for our family for years! Occasionally they will get a takeout order wrong (incorrect toppings etc), but typically we are happy with our pizzas. When we’ve eaten in it’s always been a good experience. Love the customizable options for varying diet preferences.

Ordered 2 pizzas for delivery and they were awful! We couldn’t eat them and ended up throwing them away. The Italian sausage were more like kernals than sausage. There was way too much tomato sauce and the pepperoni was flavorless as was the rest of the awful pizza. The Doordash driver left the pizzas on top of a wet door mat, and failed to ring the doorbell or call as I instructed. The pizzas were cold because we did not realize they had been delivered and sat outside for more than 20 minutes. I did call and complain to the store and we assured I would get a refund for the 2 pizzas we ordered.

The gentleman taking our order didnt seem to be in a good mood to a point i felt uncomfortable telling him what else to add to my custom pizza. Afterward i asked my friend and she felt the same way. Also the ingredients was so little that some parts was just empty and too dry.

On Friday August 15th I ordered a pizza with plant based cheese because of my dietary restrictions. What I received and accidentally ate in rushed hunger 30 minutes later when I got home, was a piece of pizza with animal cheese on it.

Lessons I learned:
1. A pizza spot with plant based options doesn’t mean the staff are trained to care for people with dietary restrictions.
2. A pizza spot with plant based options needs someone that is allergen aware to make sure people with dietary restrictions are taken care of.
3. Staff may just bare minimally say ”oh sorry “ and ask you if “you want another one or..?” Instead of genuinely apologize for making a mistake that could cause harm to someone medically, especially because it was their mistake.
4. They tried and succeeded for a while but I’m calling it quits and not recommending to people with food restrictions from animal products.

I recently visited MOD Pizza in Pinole and had a mixed experience. The highlight of my visit was definitely the service. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure the ordering process was smooth and pleasant.

However, I was disappointed with the food itself. I ordered two mini pizzas and a salad through the app, which was user-friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, for over $40, what I received didn’t match my order. The pizzas weren’t as expected dough was chewy, and the salad was particularly unsatisfying. The lettuce and veggies were old and soggy, lacking the crisp freshness one would anticipate.

Given the cost, I expected a better value. It felt disheartening to put in the extra effort to request a pizza that I could barely eat—honestly, I would have been better off ordering a Costco pizza.

In summary, while the service and app experience were commendable, the quality of the food fell short of expectations. I cannot recommend the MOD Pizza in Pinole based on this experience. Customers deserve better for the price.

Our favorite of the Build-Your-Own pizza places. Great variety of toppings and they consistently cook it well. 3 sizes of pizza.

Great choose-your-own-toppings pizza chain in the East Bay. It’s lighter tasting alternative to the popular pizza franchises which seem to be greasy.
