I went to MJ’s in a party of 10 with a reservation. I got there 10 minutes early to decorate for a birthday and the table wasn’t ready! They took me downstairs and as I walked down the stairs, I could feel the coldness. The room was EMPTY and the table wasn’t ready! They tried to put us at a table with a column in the middle of it and not enough seats. I had to redirect them. Then they tried to squeeze us into two small tables so I had to ask them to add another table. Once we were all there, it took a while just to get our drinks. The room became increasingly cold. The joke at our table was that everyone was sitting on their hands and then started putting their winter coats back on. We asked THREE times…three times for them to fix the heat. The last time is when I asked the manager to fix it since it was freezing downstairs and other people were in the room now at different tables. Nothing changed the entire time we were there. It actually got colder at one point. All of the food went cold immediately. The downstairs bathroom was colder than the dining room. The server was decent. The food was average, but the hostesses were unhelpful. The manager was unhelpful. Everyone was uncomfortable. It had been a while since we’d gone to MJ‘s for anything and it will be never before we go back.

Went here to grab some food and first I have to comment on the service. Wasn’t greeted by the host/hostess so we just sat ourselves down. Then our waitress came (don’t even know her name because she didn’t introduce herself to us) and was met with an unfriendly attitude. We place our drink and food orders, and the drinks came out quick. Maybe like 35 minutes pass at this point and our food still has not come out yet. We only ordered a burger and nachos for the appetizer. At that point, we were so hungry we just bailed (couldn’t even find our waitress to ask for the bill because she disappeared after giving us our drinks, and didn’t even come up to check on us once to even update us about our food wait time) and paid for the drinks by leaving cash on the table and left. I was so disappointed because I’ve been to other MJs locations before, but this one was by far the worst. I can’t even comment on the food quality because I never even got it! Ended up getting Taco Bell on the way home instead.

Food was good, wings are big soup was flavorful. Sandwhiches were tasty. Building is older which is fine by me. Nice to overlook the creek, they have a small patio area to sit outside. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We would go back. They have food and drink deals everyday.

Mj’s is a typical bar/restaurant. They have decent food like burgers and beers. The main attraction for me here is that it overlooks the waterfalls. You can on occasion find a seat that overlooks the falls. I have been here a number of times over the years, even well before it was MJ’s, during the spring after trout was stocked into the stream and we could actually watch some of the fish. Trying to jump up the falls from all the way up there in the window overlooking the falls. Whether or not you do that doesn’t matter, it’s a decent place anyway.

Stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon after a day on the beach. Casual, tavern-y feel with lots of dark wood. Nice view of the brook where some folks were having fun. I took advantage of their Wednesday $3 Yuengling special and started with the Chicken Quesadilla. For my meal, I ordered the French Onion Soup (very well done!) and the Meatball Sliders which are served on garlic bread with a side of chips. My family ordered a Cheeseburger and a Volcano Burger. All were very tasty, but the burgers were slightly overdone (ordered medium, verged on medium well). Both the regular fries and the sweet potato tots were delicious, so it’s nice to have choices. I’d go back again.

The food was spectacular, amazing even . They fell short with the drink, it was supposed to have sprinkles. The ape pie was scrumptious. The waitress was accurate with order taking, didn’t prebuss unless I asked, and the communication was a turndial as she would only stop for 2 seconds the peeew,lol I wanted to speak to manager for praise then the waitress had a complete meltdown as if I was gonna complain. No I just wanted to praise, really not interested in her failed relationship. Nice of manager to comp ape pie. I look forward to going on weekends.

I hadn’t been to MJ’s since moving back to NJ because, honestly, the food never really impressed me in the past. But this time was different—in a really good way! The wings were perfectly seasoned, super crispy, and smothered in sauce—absolutely delicious. I ordered the nachos, and while simple, they had a great balance of cheese, salsa, and toppings. My husband got a personal honey hot thin-crust pie with crispy breaded chicken—so good!
Service was solid, and the beer on tap was smooth (though I wish it was a bit colder or served in a frosted glass). My only complaint is the noise level from the staff. I wasn’t seated at the bar, but I could still hear their entire conversation. A little more awareness would go a long way.
Overall, much better experience than before—happy to see the improvement!

Pleasant lunch spot! We stopped here randomly for lunch while in the area. The service was nice, food came out in a timely manner, atmosphere was great (we were at a table overlooking the stream), and everyone’s food was tasty! The MJs Steak salad was amazing – perfectly cooked, fresh ingredients, and so flavorful. They had a kids menu, crayons for coloring, and high chairs available.

MJs is a nicely located restaurant with a bit of a cramped feeling entry, but cozy feel once seated. The view from our table was really nice overlooking a little fishing spot.
The food. I ordered the french onion soup and the barbacoa tacos. Other meals ordered were the fish tacos, a chicken panini and Mac and cheese.
The French onion soup was the best thing on the table hands down. Flavorful, and had this been the only thing ordered, the review would have been different, this is the reaction and why it recueved 3 stars rather than 2.
The barbacoa. Overcooked, chewy and lacked flavor. I am not even sure there was salt used. The Taco was covered in raw radishes. Great for color, not so great for the pallet and did not add anything to the Taco but confusion. The tortilla was good. I did not finish the tacos.
The crispy fish tacos were eaten, and while the crispy seemed to outweigh the fish, these were fine. Not great. Also on the overcooked side. Flavor was better here than the barbacoa.
The chicken sandwich was good. The patron who had it, enjoyed it, but only ate half. The portion size on this was favorable.
Mac and cheese – kraft. This is always a negative points.
