I tried big Al’s about 6 years ago for lunch and i remember it being great. Today i went with my family and unfortunately it was awful. The biscuit and gravy were the worst thing i have ever tasted chef did not taste his food ! He said spicy but it was not just spicy it was cinnamon, and old hamburger meat from burgers rough chop. Hash browns were burnt and not seasoned, coffee was cold . It was awful every one around us didn’t eat their food and one couple told me the shrimp and grits were also BAD. I hate complaining so we sat and tried to eat at least our eggs . I hope he hires help to boost his quality asap i love Nashville originals but unfortunately today this place fell short today !

We were looking for that “ down-home” vibe and we found it here. Stopped in and had the biscuits and gravy(spicy but delicious), catfish and an omelet. The owner and staff will make you feel like you’re family. Great food and great service . Definitely will be back on our next trip to Nashville. Aloha Big Al

Unless you already know the treasure inside, you probably wouldn’t give the place a second thought as you drive by. Either that or you got close enough that the heavenly aroma made you salivate! I recommend either the chicken or the shrimp and grits. Go on in and enjoy some of the best, stick-to-your-ribs, warm your belly, comfort food that will ever pass your lucky lips!

Wonderful, best breakfast in Nashville! We had the Big Al’s breakfast and the Chicken and waffles. Some of the best fried chicken we have had anywhere. It’s a small place but the food, atmosphere and service are fantastic!

Big Al and those working there are very friendly and nice. You get a large amount of food. Issues I had are as follows – I did not like the spices on my potatoes – they were spicy, the bacon was salty and my scrambled eggs were runny. The Biscuit was good. They really needed one more person to clean the tables as they were busy. They have some barstools to sit at and the tables are metal tables with a cover on top with folding chairs. I wish them the best as they are great people. Hope you look at this review and make some improvements to get better! You can do it!

Had the best time eating at Big Al’s for breakfast this morning. The food was amazing! So flavorful and large portions. The best biscuits I’ve ever had. Eggs, bacon and potatoes were cooked to perfection! Blueberry pancakes were to die for with some secret ingredient. Highly recommend going and experiencing this hidden gem.
Had a wonderful conversation with Big Al and he’s not only an amazing chef but a really stand up guy! A must go to when in Nashville. I can’t wait to go back!
