Mithaas on Newark Avenue truly lives up to its promise of being “Food for Every Mood.” My recent visit was an absolute delight and a wonderful reminder of how thoughtfully prepared vegetarian Indian cuisine can be.

What stood out immediately was the exceptional freshness and authenticity across every dish. The chaat was vibrant, beautifully layered, and bursting with contrasting textures crisp elements balanced perfectly with tangy chutneys and cooling yogurt. Each bite delivered that nostalgic street-style flavor, elevated with remarkable cleanliness and presentation.

The thali was equally impressive. The paneer curry was rich, creamy, and delicately spiced, allowing the quality of the paneer itself to shine through. The dal and chickpea preparation were comforting and flavorful without being overly heavy, and the rice was perfectly cooked light, aromatic, and fluffy. The stuffed parathas were golden, crisp on the outside, and generously filled, reflecting both skill and attention to detail in preparation.

I was equally impressed with the snack selections, particularly the innovative sandwich chaat, which offered a delightful fusion of textures and flavors crispy, tangy, spicy, and refreshing all at once. The beverages were refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly, especially the traditional cooler that provided a soothing balance to the spices.

Beyond the food, Mithaas maintains a clean, welcoming, and efficient environment. The service was prompt, and the overall experience felt organized and customer-focused, even during busy hours.

Mithaas is undoubtedly one of the finest destinations in Jersey City for authentic Indian vegetarian snacks, chaats, and comfort meals. It delivers consistency, quality, and genuine flavor in every dish. I look forward to returning again and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a refined yet authentic taste of Indian street and homestyle cuisine.

Came here for some authentic North Indian food and wasn’t disappointed. The chole bhature was excellent – fluffy bhature with flavorful, well-spiced chickpeas. Also ordered the palak paneer, which had a rich spinach gravy and soft paneer cubes. Portions are generous and the food arrived hot and fresh. It’s a casual spot that delivers on taste without pretense.

I tried the dahi papdi chaat here and it was nice and comforting. The balance of yogurt, chutneys, and crunch was decent, and everything tasted fresh.
Service was good and efficient, which always helps the experience. It is not the best chaat I have had, but it is reliable and worth trying if you are nearby or craving something quick and familiar.

The service and hospitality is splendid every time I have dined at Mithaas! The manager, Mr. Sharma, kept checking on us frequently and gave his recommendations based our our dietary restrictions. The atmosphere reminded me of my favorite restaurants in India. The food was fresh and we were never kept waiting for long. If you want to try our tradition Indian food and some other interesting variations, this is the place to go!
