Our food arrived fast. The ribs, brisket and pulled pork were absolutely delicious. The green beans were the best I wouldn’t have orderd the fries had I known… I did get a second order. My husband said his coleslaw was good. Restaurant and Bathroom were clean, wait staff was pleasant and prompt.

First and for most as someone who has eaten BBQ across the country…. this place has the best Ribs i have ever tasted.
The staff are pleasant, professional, friendly, and attentive.
The restaurant itself is clean, and the atmosphere is exactly what you would want for eating and enjoying good BBQ.
Ribs- 10/10 both dry and with sauce.
Suace- 7/10
Brisket- 6/10…. tasted good, would definitely eat again…. however texture and taste was more of a shredded beef than Brisket.
Pulled pork French fry nachos- 10/10 out of this world.
Mac and cheese- 6/10 could have been more creamy, but still good.
Green beens- 7/10 good green beens.

I kept seeing signs for this place on the freeway. I figured it was probably a tourist trap, but when in Rome….I arrived to an absolutely empty restaurant. I got a hick bowl…this thing was enormous and pretty good IMO.

Stopped by to try some Missouri BBQ! First of all, the semi parking is absolute trash, we got stuck! Thank Jesus for a good samaritan who helped us, but semis, please do not park in that gravel lot. Owner needs to fix this by leveling it out ASAP. Back to the food, we got the 2 meat platter (brisket and ribs) with baked sweet potato and mac and cheese. Overall very mid, everything needs salt. The meat was smokey and good, very monotone flavored mac and cheese, where is the salt on the sweet potato? even the butter they gave was unsalted. BBQ sauces were good, sweet and spicy was not spicy however. Customer service was excellent, super nice esp Claire! I do recommend for some decent BBQ food if you’re on I-44, us personally we would not be back!

Service was great atmosphere building was cool, Food was mediocre at very best. Ordered the smoked chicken and was as dry as great grandma’s Thanksgiving Turkey only flavor was a chemical aftertaste. The greens beans definitely Italy tasted like the can they came out of with an extremely heavy hand of salt. We drove an hour and a half for our Valentines day get away and now are disappointed we didn’t do Pappys in St Louis. But The Wagon wheel motel next door is extremely quiant and I would stay there.

Food was perfect! We had the pulled pork nachos, smoked chicken and brisket. Portions were enough for two meals! Meats were tender and juicy not dry. The BBQ sauces are AMAZING. Our favorite is the Sweet and Smoky. Must try if you like BBQ. The decor is unique the use of old sewing machine parts…just wow! Very good business y’all should be proud ❤️

Moving reviews off Yelp. Originally written in 2019. Been back a few times since. One time I was in, there were about 20 folks all dressed head-to-toe in official Harley wear, speaking German. They were from a club that came to ride Route 66 and they had stopped in here for lunch.
I’m bumping these folks up a star based on the Reuben I had for lunch there yesterday. Why did I go to a bbq place and order a Reuben you may ask? Mainly because I took a customer there and it’s what he ordered.
The corned beef was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. They smoke it in-house and cut it thick with a knife instead of on a rotary slicer. It comes out hot, tender and incredibly juicy. Hot means steaming a little, tender means it falls apart when you poke it with a fork and juicy means it will soak through the bottom slice of bread if you wait too long. There’s also a bit of bark to it like you find on a smoked brisket.
All in all, one damn fine sandwich at a place that should be known for bbq.

As you will clearly see in the video it was a very quiet very homey atmosphere that gave a very welcoming veneer to the place. However, do not expect to have attention to detail with your order, respect for religious preferences, or even a waitress that will listen to you with more than a nonchalant glance.. I went out of my way almost 15 minutes to find this place, because I saw the billboard and remembered what it was like when I was a kid to go out with my grandparents to a local barbecue place in Kansas City .. Missouri historically has always been a great Contender for barbecue offerings, and with a name like the one shown, I figured I would at least leave with a full belly and a few good moments of nostalgia.. Unfortunately, this was not meant to be .. The waitress I was given whose name is Mackenzie by the way, is supposedly a member of management, that I would unfortunately have to the validity of that statement. She was somewhat professional and quietly spoken, but was told multiple times that I was a weary professional who had specific religious observances when it came to no pork products of any kind, and that I required a more kosher standard of dining. After making sure she clearly understood this by reinforcing it several times while placing my order and in my initial conversation with her, she proceeded to sit down a plate with bacon on top of macaroni and cheese, catch herself only after seeing my mortified look of discomfort and disgust, and then came back with the SAME PLATE That had the original offending item on it, instead of a fresh & clean one with fresh items, as per my request. There was no apology, no offer of discount or complementary item for the mistake, just a quiet “” hurry up and buy “” kind of overtone to the entirety of my meal. What’s the point of posting on multiple billboards that you have truck parking, and then treat the clientele that you advertised to like they weren’t ever supposed to be there?… I will NEVER recommend this place to any professional drivers, thier families, or people who are looking for a good meal with friendly people who care.. Because sadly,.. This place may say welcome,.. But I speak from 1st hand experience,.. You’ll never feel at home or anything close to it if you come here…

I really enjoyed this place. The pulled pork sandwich and brisket were both very tasty. I tried all of the sauces on the table. The sweet and smoky and honey were my personal favorites. The sweet and spicy was not very spicy, but was also good.

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. I came there Tuesday on my birthday. I ordered the brisket my friend for a pork steak dinner. My brisket was cold when I got it. The green beans were ok but not as good as I had them in the past. Her pork steak was so tough she had a hard time cutting it with a steak knife. I brought it home and baked it for three hours to be able to eat it. However the waitress was awesome, she gave us a cobbler because it was my birthday as I mentioned before, I ordered blackberry and got apple instead, lol. It was great!
So I’m not sure if I will be back, it was disappointing in general for a place with such a great reputation.
