Proudly Serving Those Who Serve, we honor and give back to our Uniformed American Heroes—Police, Fire, First Responders and our Military. Mission BBQ absolutely lived up to its name. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere made the experience even better.
My family ordered the ribs and the sampler, and everything came out hot, flavorful, and cooked just right. I went with the pulled pork North Carolina style, and it was hands-down some of the best I’ve had. So good that I went back a second time during the same trip. That alone should say plenty.
Beyond the food, the military and first responder theme really sets this place apart. The walls are filled with service memorabilia, photos, and tributes that show real respect, not gimmicks. You can tell this place is built around appreciation, not just branding. As someone with a strong connection to military service, that meant a lot.
The restaurant itself is clean, well organized, and welcoming. The staff was friendly, efficient, and clearly proud of where they work. Even when it was busy, everything ran smoothly and the experience never felt rushed.
Great food, meaningful atmosphere, and consistent quality. If you’re anywhere near Gurnee and want barbecue done right with a side of respect and patriotism, Mission BBQ is absolutely worth your time. I’d gladly come back again

As a veteran I always enjoy Mission BBQ with all the photos of our heros. However the food is awesome and the portions are surprisingly large. Customer service is top shelf here with the managers leading the way. In my opinion the best restaurants always have a manager on the floor not hiding in the office.

Absolutely amazing experience at Mission BBQ! The food was incredible. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. You can tell they really care about quality. The staff and overall atmosphere made it even better. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Rose, the manager, truly went above and beyond. She was so kind and personable, and she gave my boyfriend and I free cheesecake which completely made our night. That level of customer service is rare and so appreciated. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Amazing first experience at Mission BBQ! This was my very first time there and I honestly couldn’t have asked for better service. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and Noheli truly made the experience unforgettable. She was extremely sweet and friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful. She took the time to explain the menu and even shared how they cook the brisket and pork overnight and that everything is homemade and fresh every day, which made us appreciate the food even more. She made sure we felt comfortable the entire time and went above and beyond. You can tell she genuinely cares about customers and loves what she does. Thanks to Noheli, my first visit to Mission BBQ was great, and I will definitely be coming back!

I’m not one for BBQ meats, but this is a little piece of heaven.
I bring my Nam Vet father here. He loves it. A tender and flavorful pork sandwich with ‘cold slaw’ is his favorite.
Staff is friendly, helpful, and sociable. It feels like a real family when you’re here.

Mission BBQ is an amazing restaurant that supports first responders and military. The atmosphere is amazing and it has the friendliest staff I’ve come across. The food, especially the ribs are second to none. If you haven’t been here, give it a try!!

The Black Plate Special steak was AMAZING!
We, as a company, have eaten here many times. Usually for my standard I get the sausage & Burnt ends which are always tasty. For a change of pace I’ll get the monthly Black Plate Specials which I’m always happy with.
This time I ordered the Black Plate Special Steak and it was OUTSTANDING! I’ve eaten at many high end steak houses and this has beaten many many of those by far! The flavoring was herbal and it was very aromatic. It had a good bark but was still soft and cooked to a perfect medium.
The staff are always high spirited, personable and attentive. The decor is service & patriotic oriented which we love.
We like the ala cart options so we can try the different sides which creates a new culinary experience even when ordering the same meats from previous visits.

Mission BBQ supports veterans that offer their life to defend our country and in return make a sandwich to die for! Probably the best Brisket sandwich I’ve had in a long time, delicious! Polled Pork sandwich amazing too. And the fries? Amazing. If you want a great BBQ and support Veterans, this is the place.
