Great place to get dim sum around New Orleans. Well, it did have a hint of a modern fusion take on it. I did enjoy the presentation and the taste. I lined up 10 minutes before 5 PM on a Friday and there was a couple big parties ahead of me. After being seated and ordering the place filled up. The service was great and the food came out fast. My favorite was the short rib, the shumai. The shrimp dumpling, and the soup dumpling didn’t make my expectations as they were a little bit soggy on the outside in other words, the dumpling wrapper itself was soggy. Overall good portion sizes and delicious taste. I love how there is complementary potstickers and beignets. I highly recommend and I would come back.

An absolute delight! The perfect blend of old school Chinese American restaurant feel and modern flavors. This is the kind of place that reminds you why going out to eat used to be fun! From the little touches like the welcome dumplings at the beginning and mini beignets at the end to the varied and shareable menu, it’s just a great all around experience.

Most definitely a locally owned gem of New Orleans. Dining room is small, so expect to wait for a table. Service is attentive, fast and good. Large portions, family style, items come out as they are ready. Best Chinese food I’ve had south of Philadelphia’s Chinatown. Worth the wait, worth the price and you’ll come back.

Well worth the wait. Our server, bo, was incredibly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The barbecue pork was worth the wait alone, and the rest of the food was great and was served almost as quick as we had sat down and ordered. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Traveling to New Orleans, I never expected to eat Chinese food, but we were encouraged to visit by the owner of our B&B. Miss Shirley’s was the BEST Chinese food we have ever had, and will be a repeat experience the next time we are in town. Our server was knowledgeable and happy to offer suggestions for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, and Miss Shirley herself stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. Every single thing we tried was phenomenal – dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, Singapore noodles, and several other dishes. Even the egg rolls were a notch above all other egg rolls in my life. Several draft beers were available (in addition to wine and cocktails) and were a nice compliment to the food.

This was one of the best Chinese meals I’ve ever had. Miss Shirley and her team both cook incredibly delicious food and provide wonderfully attentive service.

We had the Beef Dumplings, Beef Short Ribs, Egg Drop Soup, Wonton Soup, Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun, Tong Chow Chicken, and Ginger Scallion Chicken & Beef. Everything I would recommend.

If you’re in NOLA, you have to pay Miss Shirley’s a visit.

Miss Shirley changed my life. The food was well worth the 1 hour wait. When we were seated, we were greeted with welcome dumplings and cucumber salad. We placed our order and food came out as it was ready. I believe the first order hit the table within 10 minutes. Miss Shirley herself, came and checked on us multiple times. The queen runs a tight ship and everything we tasted was phenomenal. I WILL be returning. My friends and I had:
Crabmeat Shumai
Seasonal shrimp dumplings
Beef dumplings
Salt and pepper chicken wings
Beef short ribs
Braised pork belly (Sammie got this)
Shrimp fried rice
Shrimp with bok choy
Tong chow chicken
Everything was amazing but the beef short ribs are something I will dream about for the rest of my life. We also received complimentary beignets on the way out and even got a picture with our queen, Miss Shirley. We WILL be returning.

Miss Shirley’s Located in the same spot as the old Golden Dragon, this place has been completely reimagined. The vibe is more polished, cozy yet modern—perfect for a casual date night, business lunch, or upscale dinner with friends.

The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried tasted fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s not your typical takeout spot—this is Chinese cuisine with a refined twist. The flavors are bold but clean, and you can tell the ingredients are top-notch.

What really sets Miss Shirley’s apart is the impressive selection of wine, beer, and liqueur. The beverage list rivals some of the trendiest restaurants uptown, making it a great place to pair your dumplings or duck with a curated drink.

Prices are a bit higher than a standard Chinese restaurant, but it’s clear you’re paying for quality and ambiance. It’s more of a business casual or special occasion spot rather than a quick bite—but totally worth it.

Highly recommend everyone check it out for themselves. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Chinese food or just exploring new dining spots, Miss Shirley’s is a fresh, flavorful experience you won’t want to miss.

I’ve been here more times than I can count and I’ve NEVER had a bad experience. There’s almost always a wait so I usually sit at the bar. They always serve complimentary dumplings as like an amuse-bouche. They have seasonal cocktails in addition to the regular menu. My favorites include the yuzu collins and the vesper. My favorite menu items are the beef short ribs, the crab dumplings, the EGG ROLLS!, and the crab udon noodles. They always have specials as well which never disappoint. They bring complimentary beignets at the end of the meal with your fortune cookie. The food is hot, fresh, fast, and homey. Always feels like a home cooked meal. And it’s not uncommon for Ms Shirley to stop by your table or clear your plates. The vibes, the food, the service…never disappoint. Easily one of my favorite places.
