Social Profile:

Miss Kim, opened in 2016 as a proud part of the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses. Chef Ji Hye Kim grew up in Seoul, South Korea and is obsessed with ancient Korean culinary texts and the finer points of fermentation. Despite rumors of its eponymous origin, the name Miss Kim was chosen for its reference to the most recognizable Korean last name and our restaurant’s female chef-owner. Our food is rooted in Korean tradition & adapted to showcase Michigan’s bountiful produce. We work with local farmers to build a menu that shines seasonally. We want our restaurant to be a bright, fun & easy place to be for all our guests. Our service aims to be helpful, informative, warm and enthusiastic – everything you’ve come to expect from Zingerman’s.

Trendy spot for traditional Korean fare with a modern, seasonal twist in contemporary surrounds.

Miss Kim is awesome! I haven’t had a ton of Korean food in my life so this was a fantastic spot to try some classic dishes with a Midwest spin on it.

Favorites by far are the soy butter rice (I could eat ten bowls of this), Korean Fried chicken (both flavors are great but spicy option slightly better), Crispy Broccolini, Kimchi Pork Fried Rice, and Smashed Potatoes.

We also got the short rib, tteokbokki in the street style and cacio e Pepe style, short rib, and cauliflower. All were really good, only miss for me was the cauliflower but I’m just not much of a fan of cauliflower in general.

Family style is the way to go here, we went with four people and still had a few leftovers with everything we ordered. Definitely a gem of Ann Arbor, if I am ever back in town I’ll definitely be visiting!

Overall an ok experience. We made reservations and was seated on time inside. The inside is super noisy. I could hardly hear the wait staff. The tables are pretty close and the acoustic in the place is horrible. When it was time to order, they ran out of all proteins on the menu. No fish, no scallops etc. so we went all vegetarian. Portions are small for the price. Food is decent. Some of the dishes tasted overly salty or burnt. Would I go again, sadly No. We expected better in the heart of Ann Arbor, but this was a real disappointment. Hope you have better luck.

Fantastic Korean food! The smashed potatoes, fried cheese and lotus root were so delicious. The japchae was to die for! As Indians, we’re used to spicy and savory food and Miss Kim hits the right spot. I’ll definitely come back again

10/10 excellent meal and already looking forward to going back. My husband and I shared a spread of dishes. The smashed potatoes were seasoned well and crispy, and the cauliflower had great flavor and texture with a mayo dipping sauce. The fried chicken sandwich was a standout, super crunchy, juicy, and flavorful. The sweet chili baby back ribs were tender with just the right balance of heat. The Vietnamese coffee was perfectly sweet. It’s a great spot whether you’re grabbing lunch or dinner, and it works just as well for a date as it does for a meal with friends.

Honestly, my favorite item was the cacio e pepe tteokbokki. It was a little crispy with a savory hint. The pickled onion and green onion really helped balance it.

A got the duck bimbimbop. The duck was great as it was medium rare and crispy. However, it was cut a little large for bite size with the rice. I would suggest asking them to cut it thinner. More importantly, the stone pot was not enough because I barely had any crispy rice at the bottom. I even waited about a minute to let it crisp up some more. There was no rice parts that was even browned up. Also, it lacked sauce use. I used all that was given.

Server was great. Talked to the hostess 3 like 3 seperate time and she act like she didn’t know what I wanted each time… I came by myself.

I’m giving all the stars for one reason: Masha. We like eating here and enjoy the food and service consistently. We’re Koreans and don’t expect traditional Korean food here : Miss Kim has its own special identity.
I’m writing this review because I just got off the phone with Masha, who was absolutely amazing while helping me confirm my reservation for my daughter’s graduation. I needed to adjust it form party of 3 to party of 4, and as you can imagine, everything is fully booked everywhere. However, she took the time to reconfigure and rearrange and made it happen. She was so friendly and competent, it truly surprised me. Absolutely wonderful experience with this staff. Give this person a raise! Wow! Bravo!

The menu has interesting dishes and the ddokboki was great but the other dishes we got were underwhelming. The bibimbop was overwhelmed with carrots and the red snapper was unusually fishy. The cinnamon tea (iced) is outstanding. In the end we left feeling like we overpaid for decent food.

Had dinner on a work trip in January, Miss Kim’s was an excellent choice! They were super accommodating, attentive and patient with all our questions. All the staff was so friendly, genuine and funny. As far as the dinner goes… the ingredients were fresh, chicken was tender and the Bulgogi was lights out. If I ever make it back to Ann Arbor, I’ll be dining again at Miss Kims!

Recent dinner was very good. Broccolini appetizer was excellent. Fried chicken and red snapper entrees also very good. Its a little pricey but everything was delicious and is a gourmet Korean experience. Service was great and outdoor dining quite enjoyable on a nice evening.

Our service was great. However, the Bibimbap components were all under-seasoned, especially the beef.

The prices are exorbitant. The ssam platter was $34 dollars…For 5 tiny pieces of pork belly, a pile of lettuce and rice. I understand that restaurants have a lot of unexpected costs right now, but if you go on Packard to ricewood barbecue, you can get an enormous pork belly rice bowl with double the ingredients (and flavor) for $17.
