We come here probably once a week! It’s our go to sushi place. Our regular order includes the ginger salad, salmon belly skewers, cardinal roll, spicy tuna roll, and we have recently been getting the pink puffer roll. Cha has been our server multiple times and she is so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We bring our friends and family here as well and have made them regulars. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great restaurant in the area !

Unfortunately this is what you will get if you order sushi from here. Mostly rice with a tiny amount of spicy crab. They have been doing this the past 4-5 times my husband and I have gotten takeout. Maybe they just do this with takeout orders? We keep going back hoping things will improve because we like their food. Not worth the cost if I’m just paying for rice.

We stopped here for lunch today and were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter Brian was very friendly and took great care of us, although he could speak a little louder for us old deaf guys lol. We got the fried oysters to start with some miso soup and both were very delicious. My wife ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and I got the Rainbow Poke bowl. The portions were very generous on both. The poke bowl was really awesome. We will definitely be coming back to try several other things from the menu.

We enjoyed ramen and sushi. The ramen noodles were great and the texture kept me coming back. The mushrooms in the ramen were unique and delicious. The broth was good but could have a bit more depth and umami. The sashimi was fresh and delightful as was the sushi roll. The server was kind and attentive. We ordered white rice and seasoned chicken for the baby but it was the last thing to come out. I don’t know if it was due to the server or the cooks but that was unfortunate. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and had good food.

First time visit made quite the impression. The food was great and the portions were appropriate. The authentic food is crafted carefully, so be patient. The calamari is the best ever. Make sure you make a reservation. It’s not required but it saved us a long wait on a Saturday night.

The atmosphere is quaint and open, the tables are spaced nicely. I came last night with a group of 15 (reserved) and the food was so good I had to come solo tonight. Our server was attentive and sweet. My server tonight is just as nice. I have last nights good pictures and will post tonight’s later!

Visited our son at UofL and decided to try Misawa Hibachi & Sushi Bar—what a fantastic experience! We ordered the Misawa Special and were blown away by the quality and freshness of the fish—it literally melted in our mouths. The tonkatsu ramen, pork tonkatsu, and yakisoba were all delicious. As a sweet surprise, they treated us to a complimentary fried cheesecake with ice cream—so thoughtful! The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our kids are already asking to go back. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area!

If you are craving sushi rolls, be sure to visit Misawa. Located in Bardstown Road, the family-owned restaurant offers quality sushi rolls at a reasonable price.
As you enter the place you can definitely feel the unique and modern ambience of the restaurant. Unlike its competitors, Misawa positions itself to be a contemporary and upscale, yet still casual, American-Japanese restaurant.
My go-to sushi order is the Miss Veedol roll. It has a generous serving of spicy crab and tempura, then topped with salmon and drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo. The flavors work so well together.
Our server Joanna also recommended the Derby roll, and I ended up loving the dish too! The seared scallop is the perfect addition to the roll, as the smokey taste from the seared side of the scallop complemented the delicate freshness of the scallop and shrimp.
For the third roll, we decided to try a deep-fried roll. Their Sunday Morning roll is a spin on the staple deep-fried sushi roll– it still has cream cheese, but with salmon replacing the usual spicy crab inside.
For dessert, the sweet staff greeted my husband Happy Birthday with an equally beautiful and scrumptious tempura cheesecake!
For date night, family lunch, catch up with friends, and anything in between– go ahead and visit this place. Misawa definitely has our heart.

I have been coming here for a while and it’s no wonder why. The place is always clean, the tables are neatly spaced apart and the staff are always kind, friendly and knowledgeable in the cuisines. I usually come alone and I have never had a bad experience with them. I usually get the playboy sushi but all the food so far has been great and even recommendations from the servers have come out amazingly, fresh taste, great blends of flavors and toppings. Sushi with salmon is my go to, like the playboy sushi, it’s the best in the area. And if you don’t like raw, they have cooked sushi too, the fried punch out is a must to try, and the portion is amazing! (I wish I had a picture but it tends to be gone by the time I do remember to take one)I want to thank every employee there because the team work really makes this a great and enjoyable place, from a single walk in to leaving with a full and happy belly, I can gladly say you must come and try the food at Misawa!
