Ordered the Salted Egg Yolk shrimps from the daily specials. The shrimp weren’t deveined, which made them inconvenient and messy to eat, and most of the salted egg coating came off when peeling, kind of defeating the purpose of the dish.

The beef brisket also had a burnt taste, There was black char on some of the meat, and it had mixed into the soup as well. This isn’t my first time here, but the food quality today was below their usual standard. The shrimp really should be deveined.

Not our first time. Reasonable price, clean, and Nice modern decor with fast pace and average service. Disposable menu and digital tablet were offer to make it easy to place order. Shrimp dumplings and shrimp/ dumplings were flavored, however every single dumpling’s wrapper was broken when pickup. Siumai (5piece per order)was bland. Perfectly cooked Beef trip was mild and crisp. Average Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was served nicely hot. Steamed chicken feet and bean curd rolls were worth to try. Hoisin sauce was offered once we sat. Possible more Condiments were offer upon request.

Alrighty – let’s start off with the basics – I am a very fair reviewer when it comes to reviewing restaurants, food, etc. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and as such I tend to be direct and honest. A friend of mine recommended MingHin in Rolling Meadows to me a few days ago after we were chatting about the best Dim Sum restaurants we have been to. For me personally, Phat Phat in Schaumburg is my favorite and I have introduced many friends to their incredible food. My friend who recommended MingHin insisted they were so much better, will blow me away, etc. I had pretty high hopes when I suggested to my husband we go here tonight and have dinner. All that said…

To be completely, brutally honest… we had a pretty miserable time at MingHin tonight :'(. I wish that wasn’t the case, but it was absolutely the case. Let me start with layering out what we ordered, what we got, how the restaurant was, etc.

THE GOOD:

– The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. Very clean, very well kept, etc. The interior was fantastic. Loved the ability to order on the iPad, etc. Really sharp!

– The staff, overall, was very kind. While they did not come visit you much after you sat down, when you needed them they were there. Our server was attentive when we flagged them down, etc. They didn’t really explain anything about how ordering worked at all, however. You had to figure it out for yourself (which we did as we have visited a few places previously that had a similar iPad type ordering system).

– Both the cold milk tea with boba and the hot tea they served when you sat down were both really good! I enjoyed them!

THE BAD:

– Pretty much everything else. I know that sounds incredibly harsh, but I am just being honest. We have had every type of Asian food you can think of, ranging from Cantonese, American style Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Japanese, etc. You name it, we’ve probably had it. That said… this was just straight up not good. Allow me to elaborate a little bit here – when you ordered on the iPad there were NO mention of any ingredients in each dish. You had to rely on just a photo (maybe) for what you were ordering. As I said earlier, the servers were not around unless you called for them. Everything we ordered arrived within 2 to 5 minutes of when the server finalized our order. Making this type of food fresh is NOT physically possible in 2-5 minutes. This tells me everything was premade and heated up. Tonight we ordered the following dishes:

* Siu Mai: Was incredibly not good, lacking in all flavor, seasoning, etc.

* BBQ Ribs: We each had one tiny rib bite, left all the rest.

* BBQ Pork Fried Rice: No seasoning, very bland. Truly not good. We each had one serving spoon of the rice, left the rest.

* Steamed Pork Bun: My husband had two bites, we left all of it.

* Xiao Long Bao (Pork Soup Dumplings): Three in the serving, we had ONE. Left the rest.

* Pan Fried Pot Stickers (regular portion of 6): Ate 2, took the other 4 home. Passable.

* Pan Fried Vegetable Roll: Absolutely vile. Truly awful. Absolutely COVERED in grease, immediately tore apart, vegetables were half mushy half raw, zero seasoning. We had ONE bite, didn’t touch the rest.

With tip it was $80+ dollars. We left everything except the pot stickers, server saw we didn’t eat anything, never once asked if the meal was ok, never once offered to get a manager (granted, we didn’t ask for one – we wanted out of there ASAP). That said, at least ASK how the food was and we could have at least shared like “Hmmm – it’s not what we were expecting”. We didn’t ask for a refund, but when 90% of the food is remaining on the table, not taken to go, you should at least ask your guests what happened.

All that said, check out Phat Phat in Schaumburg if you want incredible soup dumplings, appetizers, rice, etc. It will blow you away. As for MingHin – sorry, but it’s not for us. Good luck!

I was very excited to come to MingHin Cuisine, since I had never tried dim sum before, but all I had heard about it sounded delicious (and I love all styles of dumplings!) However, I’m feeling a little disappointed after building myself up.

The restaurant was very clean and has beautiful decor — we were seated right away, and asked if we wanted tea and/or water. After a staff member brought those…we heard nothing from the employees. I expected someone to ask if we had questions/needed help, even if we wanted refills, but other than waving someone down, we never heard from the staff, not even to announce what each dish was as they silently brought it to the table. At one point, my family was just puzzling over which sauces were supposed to be used with what food (some orders come with small, different plates of sauce, but because they brought out multiple orders at a time, we weren’t sure what sauce complimented what).

So, I honestly felt a little lost from beginning to end — do I use the modern ipad, or the paper ordering sheet they give? What do we do if we decide to order more food/dessert after our first order? (they took the ipad after the first order).

The food itself was pretty decent — all the shrimp dumplings we tried were good, the sticky rice in lotus leaf was lovely and everything from the deep-fried section was solid! The vegetable crepes were rather pungent and tough to bite through, and the BBQ pork turnover had a mealy-meat texture that was unpleasant.

So, while I recommend the restaurant if you’re curious about dim sum, you might feel the environment is a little unfriendly/confusing.

Great spot for dim sum in the suburbs. I feel like nothing is really the same as Chinatown but it’s nice to have something close by

Food was great, restaurant is clean, service needs improvement. Yes it was a busy Sunday but we had to flag someone down every time we needed something

We decided to go here for Mother’s Day, and it was a great choice!
Unfortunately, our party was too small to reserve as you need atleast six people to make a reservation, so we decided to come a few minutes before opening. A line formed outside the door, but we were able to quickly get seated!
Our waiter was super friendly and showed us how to order through the tablet. We got a lot of items, and they were all delicious. Due to the Mother’s Day rush, it definetly was a bit of a wait, but it was nice having things come out at different times so we could enjoy our choices.
We ordered the crab rangoons, crispy pork belly, siu mai, steamed BBQ pork buns, deep fried shrimp rolls, roasted duck, beef crepe, choy sum with oyster sauce, and the baked creamy egg yolk buns. We enjoyed every single item- they were all so fresh and delicious! I would highly reccommend the roasted duck, baked creamy egg yolk buns, and choy sum.
For desert, we got the malay sponge cake and taro smoothie. They were both really good- the cake was so fresh and warm. Although the sponge cake did take a while to come, the waiter was really nice and kept apologizing for the wait.
Additionally, the waiter accidently served us the wrong meal, and let us keep it without a charge! It was delicious and so kind of them to let us keep the food.
We didn’t end up spending too much, and we also went home with a lot of leftovers. I would highly reccommend this place.

Catching the 20% off DimSum special Monday to Friday 2:30 to 4. But kind of disappointed, overall an average experience, the food used to be better quality. Had to return the “Deep fried taro puff” back to the kitchen because it does not look how it used to. I also ordered “stir fried sticky rice” and it had stinky pork flavor, I think they used lard or old oil. Don’t order those, until quality changes, hope they do.

This restaurant is the best Chinese restaurant in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, no doubt about it! It is my family’s favorite place! When you come here, you will find that real Chinese food is not just fried rice and spring rolls! Hundreds of dishes, exquisite and delicious! The Chinese-style Cantonese tea snacks are delicious and affordable! Coupled with high-end decoration, completely Chinese style, extremely patient and perfect service! Believe me, you will know what real high-end Chinese food is after you try it!

Excellent dim sum restaurant here in the NW Chicago suburbs. Great ambiance and great food (very Hong Kong style). You get a little bit more food here for the same price as other dim sum restaurants I’ve been. Quick seating and fast, polite service. Ample parking. Definitely will be back to try their other Cantonese entrees.
