Great atmosphere. I got hooked on Mineos during my college years in Squirrel Hill, and am glad to have other locations to enjoy my favorite ‘burgh pizza. So good, in fact, I don’t even get toppings. Their white pizza is the best I’ve ever had, period. Try it and a traditional pie, you won’t be disappointed.
We couldn’t decide what we wanted so we settled on sharing a few things. We had the Antipasto salad, the meatballs and the stuffed peppers then we were curious and each got a slice of pizza( I love that you can just get a slice) everything was really good. I am picky especially when it come to meatballs and they were delicious! The stuffed peppers were great, spicy but not too spicy. The antipasto was really good too. Oh! We had garlic bread too. The garlic bread was good but it was a little too light for me I like mine toasted a little longer. The pizza was so dang good!!!
I wish we lived a little closer so we could go to Mineo’s more often. Can’t wait to go back.
As a repeat customer, I expected the pizza that we had the last time we were there, but that was not going to happen!
Instead, I was served a heavy, greasy mess that was more cheese than pizza. The cheese was so thick, it made it impossible to pick up and it was in clumps, as well as puddling in grease, not to mention the crust that in the middle was way undercooked. And the cheese was not stringy it was GOBS.
Yes, we told the server. The server, while efficient, missed the mark when we pointed out the issue. Her response? “It’s always this cheesy.” We even asked if she misunderstood us and ordered doubled cheese, the answer was ‘No’!
Nope, not buying it. We’ve eaten here before, and it’s never been a cheese overload like this. The Cheese was coming off in clumps almost like it was gnocchi and definitely not digestible.
To make matters worse, the pizza was undercooked and doughy, from the center to 1/2 way on the pizza, which is a far cry from their usual standard.
******The real kicker? Watching the next table receive the perfect pizza we used to love. It was like night and day – their pizza was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of cheese. They were able to serve it without the mess of cheese glopping everywhere and without the grease. What we got? A cheesy disaster, unrecognizable from what we ordered.
We were not after free, just a pizza like we ordered. Offering dessert doesn’t cut it when the main pizza is a flop. How do you make that right?
*** From the minute we mentioned it without trying to get the server frazzled (again not looking for free just EDIBLE Pizza) she could have just taken it back and replaced the last other cuts with a small pizza to go. The server knew our pizza was wrong, plain and simple. She was not sure how to handle it, and she should have had a manager help her through this mess. It’s not about a freebie; it’s about getting what you paid for from the start, not leaving half a pizza (And gobs of the cheese that was on it behind on plates) because it was awful and it was, we never eat just half we’ve go for the pizza to eat the pizza, but NOT today!!!
This issue of inconsistency isn’t just disappointing; it’s a serious letdown for a place that’s supposed to be a staple in the Pittsburgh pizza scene. It seems we’re not alone in noticing this – similar complaints are evident (in reviews), which raises a red flag about your commitment to consistent quality and management. Completely unacceptable and unfair to your staff who no doubt will suffer from other patrons that want GOOD Pizza, that doesn’t go squish or wilt over from so much cheese! Won’t be back for ALL the reasons shared!
