Best damn BBQ I ever had! Even the sausage & sides are raveable! If only their hours were more convenient to my travel patterns, I’d stop by more often, but it makes it that much more delicious when the stars align. And, dessert… I thought Connie’s Custard (Houston, Tx) was my favorite, but their banana pudding ice cream is heaven- sent, heaven sent. And, always ask if they are almost out of something… and, order it! That’s the good stuff!

We got there a few minutes before their scheduled hours and they all welcomed us in with cheerful attitudes and great smiles. We ordered the three meat combo with Mac n cheese (three meats were brisket, pulled pork and the birria sausage) and the two meat combo with potato salad (two meats were pulled pork and jerk chicken). The brisket was fork tender with the perfect amount of fat to beef ratio. The pulled pork was juicy and not at all tough with the perfect amount of fat. The jerk chicken was not over powering with jerk seasoning and for white meat was very juicy. Finally the birria sausage, what can I say? I work for a sausage company and this sausage was a high end quality sausage with the perfect flavor. The surprise item on their menu, was a food I have despised my entire life until now. If you make your way to Mimsy’s, you must invest in the maple roasted Brussels sprouts, oh my goodness what a flavor sensation. My wife and I agreed that there is good reason they made the Texas Top 50 Barbecue Joints. Highly recommended!!!

This was a great place to stop and eat on the way home to Tomball.

Ribs were literally “fall off the bone” great! Brisket was tender and the chicken had a good flavorful crispy skin. We had some sides..weren’t our favorite. *Could use alot more cheese on the Mac&cheese. The banana pudding cheesecake was so yum! Highly recommend
Overall the food was good!

Thanks!

“Best Jerk Chicken I’ve ever had” today at Mimsey I ate a feast of delicious food. I got the 3 meat plate ribs, brisket, and the jerk chicken with mac & cheese absolutely the best restaurant in Crockett Texas, so far. Starting with the ribs, not overcooked, nice and soft and juicy good flavor with and without the barbecue sauce, four out of five brisket almost exactly like the ribs soft juicy flavorful I preferred that one more with the barbecue sauce four out of five jerk chicken definitely gets a five out of five soft juicy and flavorful mac & cheese. I don’t know how they did it, but with that much cheese to taste like it had chili in it is insane it had a good smoky chili cheese flavor. Customer service five out of five thanks for the recommendations. Would definitely eat here again and probably every time I’m in Crockett Texas.

I thought this place was pretty good. The sausage and the poppers were the standout. My brisket today was a bit dry and lean, but some inconsistency is to be expected, more reason to come back and try again. the sides were a bit “processed”, good but nothing special. I’ll certainly return to try more stuff.

Wow! By far this was the best bbq that I have ever eaten. Totally worth the 45 min drive for me. The jerk chicken was exceptional and juicy. The ribs and brisket out of this world! I’d eat here all the time if I could! They also have delicious ice cream and cheesecake. 10 outta 10 for sure! You won’t be disappointed.

Mimsy’s serves up some impressive barbecue in a fantastic setting. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The venue itself is great, with a nicely decorated space that offers both inside and outside seating, along with a kids’ play area—a huge plus for families.
Now, on to the food. The brisket was a definite standout. It had a wonderful, rich flavor, and the salt and pepper (SP) bark was spot-on, providing a perfect crust. A nice, prominent smoke ring and a healthy amount of rendered fat made for a tender and juicy bite.
The ribs were also solid. They had a great pull from the bone, but I noticed a slightly overpowering “hammy” flavor that detracted a bit from the classic barbecue taste I was hoping for.
The house-made birria sausage was a fantastic surprise. It had a delicious mix of pork and beef, complemented by melted cheese and a good kick of chili. The casing had a satisfying snap, which I appreciate.
For sides, the Maple Sprouts were exceptional. They were perfectly charred and crispy, with the maple flavor coming through beautifully without being too sweet. The jambalaya was also a strong contender. It was loaded with flavorful sausage bits, and the rice was cooked just right.
After all that, we were happy to see they also offer some nice desserts to round out the meal. Overall, I had a great meal at Mimsy’s. The brisket and unique house sausage are must-tries, and the Maple Sprouts are a delicious side that stands on its own. While the ribs were a little off for my personal taste, the rest of the meal and the friendly atmosphere more than made up for it. I’d definitely go back for more.

I drove to Crockett for barbecue and left wondering why that banana pudding cheesecake doesn’t come with a warning label and a choir.

TL;DR:
Mimsy’s Craft Barbecue made my solo Friday road trip feel like a smoky sermon from the meat gods. The brisket? Juicy and proud. The ribs? Bold and tender. The sausage? Snapped like a firecracker in July. Potato salad with fried onion topping brought the crunch. And that banana pudding cheesecake? Sweet mercy. It deserved its own seatbelt on the ride home.

Some folks ease into the weekend with a lawn chair and sweet tea. Not me. I hit the road with a cooler, a BBQ passport, and an appetite that don’t mess around. Friday’s mission: Mimsy’s Craft Barbecue for lunch.

Walked in to neon signage, wood-paneled comfort, and a menu that read like a love letter to Texas cuisine. I didn’t hesitate.

My order:
• Brisket: Thick slices, perfect smoke ring, pulled apart with a gentle tug. Moist like a gospel hymn and seasoned like someone’s grandma still works in the kitchen.
• Ribs: Glazed just right, seasoned through the bone, and fell apart in my hand like a well-told secret.
• Sausage: Thick, snappy, juicy. It bit back. I respected it.
• Potato Salad: Creamy base topped with crispy fried onions. Whoever came up with that combo deserves a lifetime achievement award in side dish engineering.
• Banana Pudding Cheesecake: Took it to-go for the Side Dish Queen. Got it home, opened the container, took one bite. We both stared at each other like we’d just witnessed a miracle. Smooth, rich, layered, and blessed with banana goodness.

Got my 26th stamp on the passport and took a victory lap around the parking lot.

Mimsy’s didn’t just meet expectations, it body-slammed them and then offered dessert. If you’re on the Texas Monthly BBQ journey, don’t you dare skip this stop. Worth every mile and every bite. I’ll be back, probably for the Friday night ribeye… or just another slice of that cheesecake.

Final Dad Line: That sausage snapped louder than a screen door in a Texas thunderstorm and I’m still dreaming about that cheesecake like it owes me money.

I had lunch here around noon on 6/26 with a couple of coworkers. There was a short line when we arrived, but it moved quickly, and we were able to order less than 10 minutes after arriving. I got the 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage. The brisket was fall-apart tender and jam-packed with flavor. The sausage had a delightful snap and the cheese and jalapeño sang wonderfully with the umami of the pork. And I cannot say enough about how phenomenal the Brussels sprouts were. They were crispy and sweet and savory morsels that had me going back for more. Not to mention the slaw had fried onions on top! Everything was delicious. We shared an amazing meal and had a good time too!
