The name Brau Haus simply means Brewing House! Millstream Brewery owners, Chris, Tom & Teresa, had said that it would be wonderful to add an authentic German Bierhalle to the Amana Colonies. In August 2016, the Millstream Brau Haus was born! Adding the Brau Haus gave Millstream Brewing the opportunity to make more “one of a kind” brews and specialty beers only to be enjoyed at the Brau Haus! Now under new ownership, the Brau Haus continues the tradition of serving delicious German-inspired food. We create a “One-of-a-kind” experience for all to enjoy during your visit to the Historic Amana Colonies! With our great staff, we feel blessed to have such a wonderful family at the Millstream Brau Haus! We hope you enjoy your visit!

An ok place to stop while visiting the Amana Colonies.
I have visited here every year, for the last 4 years. Previous visits were excellent!!!
This last visit was sub par.
Service wasn’t as good, food was so-so.
Atmosphere is still great.
Prices not great for what I ordered.
No longer recommending, and won’t be back.

Dana helped us on Saturday. She was our bartender. She was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. They have amazing food.

It was good! Glad we came here for lunch! Felt like there were lots of options. I didn’t love the giant pretzel. It was a different kind of dough than standard. And my husband’s been to Germany times. Everything else was great! The food, the atmosphere. You can sit inside or out. There were lots of TVs if you were wanting to catch a game.

Great selection to choose from. Not one complaint about the food from anyone. Everything appeared clean and roomy. Plenty of parking as well.

Food is okay if they’re in the mood to make it right. Service over the last 3 years has progressively gone down hill to the point you have to ask for all the items to come with the dish. Side note, who puts Tomatos in Mac-N-Cheese? If you catch them on a good night it’s a good time, but I’d reccomend looking elsewhere.

This is a really fun place on the main street in Homestead. We were looking for a different place than the usual we visit when here and we saw the outside patio which was the attraction. Although the patio was packed and no outside seats were available, we still really enjoyed our food and our server was so fun. It was a family reunion and she really “ got us” and our sense of humor.

Friendly service, large portions, crispy hash browns. Unlimited coffee. Affordable prices. Can’t go wrong after a full prior day of golf!

The weekend weather was a blessing. 50 degree weather on Valentines day in Iowa is unusual. I made the most of it by stopping here for lunch. Nice atmosphere. Sat at the bar. Watching sports on television. Mixing it up with others. I previewed the menu so knew what I wanted but changed my mind once I saw another customer order the 7 ounce Angus burger. Which is cooked to order. I had that served with smoked Gouda. Fries and Rhubarb cider. Everything was delicious. Even made room for dessert: slice of Rhubarb pie. Great place to stop, eat and shop. In my opinion this place is one of the better choices to dine in the Amanas.

The Reuben I ordered was the best one I’ve ever had. The quality and flavors were amazing. I also ordered the German home fries, which were delicious and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The service was helpful and friendly. They made me a delicious sweet and fruity mocktail as well. My friends and I came here and had a great night together! They have plenty of seating and tables for different sizes of parties. My husband loved the beer selections and variety they offer. Not to mention, they have the best root beer. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Highly recommend!

P.S. David is the best. We love him.

We sat down for a couple drinks. They were quite busy be we were able to seated at the bar right away. The women working the bar was nice and struck up an interesting conversation with us. The beer was very good. Of the local brewery options Millstream is my favorite for traditional beer. The root beer is legendary and arguably better. For seven bucks you get a whopping boot that is a fun way to enjoy your drink. It was around 0 degrees when we showed up and I could envision it being a very long wait if the weather wasn’t so miserable.
