Social Profile:

This place is a legend in the state of Michigan, named “best-burger” in numerous local outlets, with plenty of national shout-outs as well. Miller’s offers a thick, juicy patty. served on a white bun in wax paper (no plates) with melty cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions and absolutely nothing else. You pay at the counter by the honor system (and with cash only). Miller’s most certainly has a unique charm that has captivated customers for decades.

No-frills, circa-1941 watering hole for signature burgers & beers with honor system payment.

My best friend and I follow Burger Review Guy. He gave this place a 7.4 rating for the Burger. My best friend heard from other people that it was good.

We get there and order. I had cheeseburger with the fries onion rings combo with the smallest glass of water ive ever had while my friend had a burger and fries with tea. The food comes looks amazing and the fries were amazing, onion rings are without taste. I taste the burger and it has no taste what so ever. All I could taste was cheese and the mayo on a slab of meat between two buns. My friend tried it and same thing she added grilled onions to it. No taste. It’s the juiciest burger we’ve ever had. Loved the juicy part but no flavor. We initially gave it a 7.9 then we paid for it. My friend paid 20 some dollars. I paid 18. For that!!! It was not worth it. We changed it to a 7.4. We will never go back. Not sure why they claim to have the best burgers because you don’t. Afterwards we went to Baskin robbins for ice cream that had wonderful flavor.

Service: the waitress took our order brought us our drinks and food. Didn’t come back to check on us. I sipped my small water because i had a feeling I was not getting a refill which I didn’t . I hated leaving her a 5 dollar tip for not really doing anything. My friend left her a 5 also. I’m a great tipper but this time nope.

Atmosphere was nice and clean.

Don’t waste your time there. Not worth it.

I saw somewhere that this place had one of the 20 burgers you must try before you die! So on my quest to find the best bar burger in metro Detroit before I leave, I had to try one!

This is what happened:

-Atmosphere-

This bar is definitely a dive. They had some comfortable booths but everything was kind of dirty all around, from the table to the Miller’s sign on the side of the booth, it wasn’t very appealing. Saying that, it felt authentic, and gave me a real local friendly bar type feel, dimly lit, dingy, and worn down.

-Service-

The service was the highlight of the experience. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food offered (as there is no menu) and let us know where the atm was as the bar is cash only. Now I’m sure my drink order was wrong and she forgot our requested picked and onions but ig the memory system works 80% of the time. The bartender seemed nice enough so it was decent.

I did like the honor system and everything, it seemed different and makes you feel a little more trusted and welcomed, just wish there was some honor in the order taking because you can’t trust the waiter to bring everything you asked for the first time around.

-Food and Drinks-
Let’s talk about this burger that I had to try before I die… I could’ve died without it. When they say no frills they mean it, bringing your burger out on a piece of wax paper to emphasize their simple is better approach to food service. It was basically clickbait and tasted greasy, tough, and with no real flavor that would cause me to think that this was something I had to try. Two plain buns and a slice of unmelted 1983 government cheese and I almost felt disrespected by the claim.

The chicken sandwich with government cheese was actually really good though, and so were the onion rings. But Shoestring fries ? Really?

I can’t be mad because it is technically a bar so the focus should really be on the drinks first…

So they definitely gave me a Diet Coke or a Coke Zero or something with basically ruined my expensive and very lightly poured drink. I was unimpressed.

All in all this place was very mid. I feel like it was overpriced and is riding the coattails of its former glory.

I’m giving this place a 3.2/5 flame rating for bars and of course as always try it for yourself and you be the judge, but I think this will be my last visit to this establishment before I die. ✌

Hubby wanted to go today after Jimmy Kimmel went. I told him that I wasn’t impressed the first and only time I went.

We are not snooty patooty but here is the reason for the rating:

1) The price – we paid $52.50 for two cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings and three beers. No plates or utensils but at least the onions and pickles were free

2) The cheese burger was pretty good but not worthy of the reputation. The burger was very greasy for ground round. Fries tasted fresh but the onions portion of the onion rings tasted old

3) This is a cash only establishment. And, you tell the bartender what you ordered and you pay her. That’s fine but at least put prices on your menu. Wait, there isn’t a menu. You don’t get a bill either. All is ok but it would be good for people to know what things cost before they order.

4) Service- well, maybe lack there of. This is a dive bar in every sense of the word. Maybe we were expecting more smiles and laughter.

5) The smell of grease was so strong. This is a place where the smell sticks to your clothes.

I absolutely do not like giving bad reviews but we believe it is deserved. My husband actually wanted to rate as a 2

this is going to be the most unusual review I have ever given any place in my years of doing Google map reviews and for my 9.2 million viewers please read until the end because no matter how bad it sounds. This was a wonderful meal when it finally happened.

initially, we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. There was a huge mixup high volume of people enjoying the food things going back-and-forth and whatever the reasons for it, my family and I stuck through it and eventually with the wonderful manager on duty were able to get the food out finally and even though it was an hour and a half later and people already got up and left. It was really a wonderful dining experience for me

when I was working on a job at a tool and die shop for my uncle, most favorite activity was my lunch break when the bar next-door would allow me as a teenager to stand in a certain spot and get my dollar bar, burger, and what I loved about that burger was a slab of onion plus everything else at the Hannah that made it the most happiest meal for me on unlimited budget at that time in the last century. but the burger I got tonight was the cheeseburger and for the $11. It was well worth the value they gave us pickles slabs of onion. He had ketchup mustard. If you wanted a mayonnaise type topping, you could have that the french fries are delicious. The onion rings are out of this world the fish and that definitely was not available that night except especially during lunch and the menu is limited, of course, but this is a traditional bar, and the food in the ambience and the waiting staff was wonderful

yes, we hit trials and tribulations waiting for our food sitting there, puzzled why people were coming in eating leaving and we sat there and sat there and sat. I was enjoying the company of my family. I was enjoying the camaraderie of the kind waitresses understanding our plate waiting for a needle, not understanding why things were going on, but you know what Alyssa did a great job no matter what the pressure was for the volume and again they’re going to adapt probably hopefully hire more personnel and that, but I want to tell you that this is well worth the trip

The french fries were delicious. The onion rings were so crispy. They went down so well so enjoyable I was able to get a camp pop which I enjoyed. My son-in-law enjoyed Astro’s beer which really surprised me Cuzin born in Detroit. I didn’t realize that five years ago that shows even existed as a beer and having a little taste of it it was absolutely delicious. I’m not promoting alcohol, but I was just surprised of the wonderful delicious taste of this beer with the food.

being ancient I’m going to forget things so I want to mention that Melissa, who was the cook tonight flipping the burgers did a wonderful job creating these delicious sandwiches

Poor vision and using a microphone to be able to put this message into my view I hope you understand how grateful I am for being able to return after being there the last time in 1990 when my grandmother had passed away and this was where a funeral dinner was, and it was just a special delight, happy atmosphere and the kindness and wonderfulness sense of humor of every waitress and other staff members was just super. I would give them 10 stars and again my situation was I think it’s the only one that I think it is very rare to happen there and I’m not really upset about it so don’t look at the negative side. Look at the positive. This was the greatest establishment

as I was writing this review and finishing it, my phone went dead, and I just laughed and laughed and laughed after the trials and tribulation of an hour and a half wait for my meal then to try to do a great review that was well deserved don’t you have my phone die on me? I think this was an omen. But Melissa did a great job on the grill. The burgers were delicious

What a disappointment. This place is stuck in a time warp and not in a good way. Walked in and had no idea if I should seat myself, the whole setup feels confusing and unwelcoming. Finally got a waitress who, with zero enthusiasm, informed me a burger is my only option. No menu, no choices, just a soggy, bland burger tossed on a flimsy piece of paper instead of a plate. I liked the onions rings, but the fries were forgettable, and the pickles? Handed to me in a Ziploc bag.

And let’s talk about payment: they don’t take cards. At all. It’s cash only, and if you don’t have cash, they’ve got an ATM that charges you a fee. Evil genius move, but seriously in 2025? This place is coasting on nostalgia, not quality. Never again.

My wife and I were in the area for the day celebrating our 31st anniversary. A buddy had told me that he loves the burgers here, so we made it our “not so fancy” dinner place What a great choice! We had a cheeseburgers and split a fry/onion ring combo. No frills, you get a great, perfectly cooked burger or cheeseburger, with pickles and onion on the side. The 1/2 poundish burger was perfect. We saw someone order a double cheeseburger, holy smokes, it was huge! ***Ok, so read reviews and you won’t be surprised that it is CASH ONLY. But, there is an ATM in case you forget.*** The value for what you get is great! The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. We will recommend Miller’s and will be back even with our 1-1/2 hour drive!

The best burger you will ever eat is at Miller’s Bar! Located in Dearborn, MI this restaurant isn’t much to look at on the outside, a plain red building with a neon sign and the word Miller’s in big, bold print on the side of the building. Inside is another world, great seating options, a bold bar and of course, the food! Food is hot, fresh and well prepared with generous portions! Staff is quick and friendly! Want to taste the best burger in the Midwest? Try Miller’s Bar today!

Went there Saturday, January 17, 2026 and could not have been more disappointed. I have been going to Miller’s since 1994 and this may be my last.
The place was crowded, that’s a good sign for a restaurant but I realized the wait staff had to explain the honor system to every table around us. A lot of new customers. That points to a lack of returning customers.
We had staff push open the back door so hard it hit our seats two different times. The wait staff was capable, not rude but definitely not pleasant or courteous. Fries and onion rings came after our burgers were finished. The burgers had no taste, nothing like years past. The fries were worse. I went through the last time their quality dropped and was pleasantly surprised, however, poor taste, unfriendly staff, and doors hitting our occupied seats leaves me believing I’ll be avoiding Miller’s for quite a long time.
Avoid this place, unfortunately.

Best burguers in Detroit. You have to come here if you love burguers, I visit this place every time I go to Michigan. The formula is simple, two buns, a patty and cheese if you like, that is enough; go for a beer if you are in the mood.
