Eat the “Cole’s Twist” brisket here!! It’s been years since I’d been to Mike’s and decided today was the day to try it out again. NOT DISAPPOINTED!! I got the aforementioned brisket and coleslaw. Very picky about coleslaw. This was delish!! Hubby got the sausage plate with potato salad and Cajun rice. Loved it!! At my age I’ve eaten brisket all across Texas, barbecue cook-offs, and across the U.S. The brisket at Mike’s is EXACTLY how brisket should be done. It needed NO sauce it was so good! Beautiful bark, tender, moist, perfect amount of fat, cut correctly!! They even let me try a bite before purchase. Green tomato relish was yum! Every employee was helpful and happy Watch out, Mike’s!! We’ll be back for more. Next time I’ll take pictures!!

Wow, great BBQ. Had the Sloppy Joe & don’t let the name fool you. This is a huge sandwich made of brisket. You’ll need double napkins to eat it. Side dishes of cold slaw & baked beans with pieces of smoke pork was tasty. Wife had the brisket sandwich & it too was perfectly done. Mike’s isn’t a fancy place but you’ll be hard pressed to find better BBQ.

Been going thru the drive thru for slice beef sandwich. Hasn’t been bad. Took the family in today and to to my surprise their chili was cold. Their baked potatoes were cold. Their jalapeño poppers were cold. We had to ask them to warm it up and still didn’t get that warm. Same old worn out Booths. In my opinion, they just don’t take care of The place the way they used to.when we got home the wife said we should have asked for our money back and went elsewhere because the microwave was nasty and looked rusty. I didn’t know this. I just ate the food that wasn’t worth near the money we spent and went home. I will not be returning there to eat inside for sure. Not sure how The health inspector even lets them operate. I guess it’s old money and who you know.

Very friendly staff of young people. Great customer service and selection. I bought the ribs and beef plate. The meat was so tender it fell off the bones! Peach cobbler was great, and so was the rice and the side order of beans. The only thing I did not care for was the potato salad. But everything else was great! It’s a nice quiet place. We were there at 7:30 on a Saturday night and it was quiet. Our meal with three plates, three desserts and two drinks was $52.

After traveling all day from out of town, five of us came in to eat at 7:17 pm on a Saturday and upon approaching the counter a female employee barked at us “You have to eat in 13 minutes.” Several other employees, including who I assume was a manager, made it very clear that we needed to hurry up and get out. This is in spite of the fact that their Google page clearly shows they close at 8 pm. I assume that because it was a Saturday evening they were ready to leave, but maybe they should change their closing time to 7 pm. I grew up in Nacogdoches and I’ve never received such rude service at any establishment here. I will never spend another dime at Mike’s Barbecue and I would suggest that you consider other options for your next dining experience unless you want to be their next victim. Food wasn’t great either.

If two stars means average I might consider 1 star. I’m sure the folks here are doing their best but for me the food was incredibly bland. There seemed to be literally no flavor in my ribs besides the sauce that was lathered on it (which apparently I don’t have a choice in when ordering). The potatoes salad seemed like mashed potatoes with a little mustard and pickle added. Got the Cole slaw but didn’t taste as it was very creamy and looked less appetizing by the second.
The place was fairly full on a Sunday after church so maybe I’m missing something or Nacogdoches has a low bar for BBQ.
Worse part for me was I had been on the road for a few hours and I had been to a truck stop restroom a couple of hundred miles before this. This bathroom didn’t look as nice as the one that literally hundreds of truckers visit every day. Quite a shock. Not unhealthy but just dirty.
I’m not a BBQ expert or even a grilling guru but I could’ve done better on my propane Weber at home. That was my experience…

It was 7pm & I knew I wanted BBQ. And out of every BBQ place in Nac, this is the only BBQ place that was still open past 7- til 730! They always accommodate me, as I always ask for extra BBQ sauce & a side of pickles! But I’m a huge BBQ fan & this is one of my favorite places to always come to!

Perhaps it was an off day for the cooks. The potato salad was blended into a cold mash, the beef brisket was completely irridescant in color and the bbq pork was overcooked to mush. The bbq sauce was tasteless. Finally, the Cajun rice. It tastedbthe best overall but tjats not saying it was tasty. I couldnt taste any salt, herbs, or spices except for ample cayenne pepper. $22 was not well spent here.

Bbq was pretty decent. But I found it funny when he didn’t know what I meant when I asked for a jumbo BBQ. I prefer molasses base sauce but this was good.
