Pretty good BBQ.
Some of the brisket were moist and flavorful. We really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts! Great atmosphere and vibes, especially the arcade area for the kids and bar for adults. Service was lacking, primarily because the server was young but he made up with his enthusiasm and energy.

Giving a 4 because this restaurant just opened, which I didn’t know until I looked into it after we ate there. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the service or the food, but am rating based on potential. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, a little more upscale than most barbecue restaurants. Our server was very unsure of what we were ordering and we needed to repeat most items a few times, which I guess if they just opened is understandable. The beer was a little flat and the marg was good but very heavy on the ice. I ordered a second but ordered it up with the dirty ice on the side. I was served a margarita in a glass full of ice with a second glass full of ice. When we said that’s not what we ordered he said it looked a little odd to him as well. The fried pickles were fried well, crispy and not greasy but really only tasted batter. The wings were very good, cooked well with a smoky flavor. 4 barbecue sauces are on the table and each one was really good. We particularly like South Carolina barbecue and were pleasantly surprised this was one of their sauces because SC is not as commonly served in this area. While not traditional, I really liked the rice bowl option and would order it again. The brisket was good but for me not memorable, I found it slightly dry but others at our table like it very much. I didn’t taste the pulled pork but those that did liked it. Cornbread had a nice flavor but was very soft, almost fell apart as you picked it up. Overall this restaurant is worth trying but I might wait a bit to give it some time to get settled.

Really disappointing. Ordered a full rack of ribs and they still had their silver skin and tasted like cheap hot dogs. We also ordered the sampler with brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was incredibly dry, the pulled pork was ok, but it’s near impossible to screw that up and it was not good. We are throwing away the ribs, will try to salvage the brisket and pulled pork with sauce even though I would normally have it plain. Flavors were all off. I don’t get it, do you guys cure your meat before smoking? So strange. We wasted money and won’t be back. Two stars because the hostess was nice.

Is it beginners luck??? Time will tell BUT opening night was amazing. I’ve eaten BBQ around the Country especially Texas, THIS BRISKET is what I mean and expect when I order Brisket. So juicy, tender, and well seasoned. Far too often people smoke their brisket so dry but this was 5/5 in my life amazing. The Mac and Cheese was amazing, the Brussel sprouts and broccoli sides were really good and paired excellent with the meal. The stars of the show are definitely the cocktails “Queen of Hearts” and “Black is Beautiful” are one of the best drinks I’ve had super original and great ratios of everything they put in. All in all I am a BBQ snob and this spot in my hometown is VERY DANGEROUS in the best way. This is not paid or sponsored I am a professional big back giving his honest opinion try it out folks

The cornbread was phenomenal! We will be ordering again the next time we go.
Warning though, if you get the salmon steak it does have quite a bit of bone in it so be careful, but it tasted amazing.

2 strikes with me is all it takes. Not going back again. This makes 2 times in a row that the kitchen made for a non- enjoyable dininh experience. First- please know that the bartender and food runners were great when attending to my service. The problem is in the kitchen. Still early in the Dinner service ( 5:15-5:30pm on a Mon nite ). Not very many patrons at the Bar or in the MDR.
I ordered a 2-meat BBQ Combo. 1/2 Chicken and Ribs (4) with a side of French Fried potatoes. The Fries came out after 15 minutes or so, by themselves. I thought the main entree they were a side of would come soon…..but that didn’t happen. I stopped eating them after 10 mins and covered them with my napkin to try and keep them warm. Another 15 mins from there and still no main entree. The customer to my left had to ask where his take out order was as he had been waiting over a beer- long ago finished. I caught the bartender’s eye when he came back from the kitchen to for that patron’s food. I asked where my food is….he went to check…I asked if I could have a new order of warm fries to replace the cold ones and then a runner finally delivered my BBQ plate. This also happened 2/3 months ago ( much worse on that visit ). I’m sorry but I just have no desire to spend $50-$60 again for disappointment. Plus….sadly the ribs were tough- you really have to bite into them to get the meat to pull off the bones. The chicken isn’t large enough to have enough meat in the leg or thigh to enjoy. Even one of the associates said that the slow food out of the kitxhen is a very common happening here. Bear’s in New Haven is great. One of the associates here said there is a good place in Fairfield.

Great drinks, playlist is fire, and the food is fantastic (even if Hugh isn’t smoking it himself!). A worthy competitor in the area barbecue scene, and a comfortable local bar to boot. We’ll definitely be back frequently.

What a wonderful to surprise while scrolling Instagram to discover that Norwalk had a BBQ place again. It’s in the same spot that the old Bobby Q’s moved to from Westport. And walking in it was basically the exact same, which is a good thing, with a nice size bar, a few high-tops in the bar area and a nice dinning room.

I was greeted warmly when I arrived. I went at mid afternoon when it wouldn’t be too busy and decided to sit at the bar. One thing I noticed right off was how clean the place was. Clearly effort was put into ensuring a clean restaurant and I appreciate that.

When I sat at the bar there were a couple of other people at the bar. I was waited on promptly with a menu. I ordered a beer which was served quickly along with a glass of water that I didn’t need to ask for (other restaurants take notice please).

The bartender was attentive but not overbearing nor hard to find. My intent in ordering was to explore some basic BBQ staples to get a sense of the food quality. I started with corn bread – which was served in three generous portions with a hot honey jelly. I would have like the hot honey to be hotter, kind of like MIke’s Hot Honey. The corn bread was a nice balance of not too sweet and not too dry, leaning toward the sweet side.

For the mains I ordered the brisket and pork ribs. These came with Texas Toast (definitely a Texas BBQ thing having lived in Dallas) and slaw. I also order a side of Broccoli Salad.

The corn bread was served quickly, as expected and the main course about a beer later. The presentation was traditional BBQ restaurant. The portions were modest (fine with me) compared to most BBQ places I go to.

The Broccoli Salad was an unexpected surprise! I love it. Also the slaw was an excellent compromise between a dry slaw and an overly mayo focused which was fresh and very tasty.

The meat, specifically the brisket was a big let down. More about that in a bit. The ribs were done well but like other chain BBQ places I think there is too much focus on ribs that “fall off the bone” which is in fact not great. Normally that means they’ve been over cooked. My ribs were on the border of that. The brisket was another story and a big disappointment. It was so overcooked or reheated that its consistency was like mush. Not very enjoyable.

Knowing this is a chain restaurant my confidence is low that the quality of the BBQ will change so do with that as you will. Regarding service and atmosphere it was wonderful. I’ll go back to explore more of the menu but the traditional BBQ meat will not be part of that.
