It was pretty quiet when we went in and after ordering a few cold beers we decided to have the chicken tikka kebabs for a starter while we decided on mains.
The kebabs were nice and full of flavour, we then ordered a scotch fillet with mash & veg and a beetroot salad for mains.
Both mains were really good and big, generous portions. The steak in particular had a beautiful char flavour to it and was cooked exactly to how we asked for it.
All in all an enjoyable visit, my marks for the atmosphere were only that because of how quiet it was, no fault of the tavern itself.
We ordered six meals in total. The children’s pasta was advertised as being served with a Napolitana sauce; however, the flavour was quite unpleasant and notably spicy. When this was raised with staff, we were advised that there was no spice in the dish, which felt dismissive of our concerns. One child was unable to eat the meal, while the other managed only half. The children’s burger was also substandard, with the patty being very dry and hard.
A large portion of the menu appears to feature spicy items. Both the steak sandwich and chicken burger were heavily covered in chipotle sauce, which overwhelmed the dishes and made them unenjoyable.
Additionally, the venue was very warm, with no air-conditioning operating at the time of our visit. Table service is no longer offered, and staff assistance was limited.
Overall, the experience did not represent value for money, and we would not recommend dining here.
Chilli garlic prawns- just wow, chilli to give a little bite with enough garlic to back up the flavour.
Wife had scotch fillet-medium rare with sliced carrots and a mash potato.
I had porterhouse well done, garlic prawns on top with chips and side salad.
Both were melt in your mouth , with a good back up from the mash and the salad was well presented and flavoured.
