Awesome “hidden gem” near the oil center. It seems to be a home converted to a restaurant. Lots of natural light from the windows. The layout is nice, indoor and outdoor dining available, patio had a fireplace and outdoor games. I’d give the food about 7/10. The sliced brisket was a little dry but the turkey was very good. The cornbread was fantastic, true southern style. Mac and cheese tasted like it had a roux base.
Lots to choose from on the menu, good diversity, also have a lunch menu on Saturday, which is awesome would be a good place for family or group dining, can get a lot of food for a decent price

Blake, our waiter, was a great guy and very professional. Outside patio is very clean and a wonderful environment for your furry pets. The food was phenomenal! We had pulled Buffalo chicken dip, pork, grits, Brussels, smoke shrimp on a fresh salad. Will definitely be back!

What a lovely little restaurant hidden in plain sight. I regret not taking more photos for this review.

Their menu has some unique items, all of which I do not regret trying. The tomato and bacon salad was refreshing, it had a lot of unique flavor and personality. The cheddar corn grits were also an interesting unique item I’ve never seen anywhere else and went quite well with the rest of the food. I ordered the Whole Hog, which comes with a sampling of each of the smokehouse meats and four sides. It’s an excellent choice for anyone who likes variety or is indecisive. Choose your preferred sauce and enjoy, everything was tender and flavorful. Honestly guys, excellent job.

The pulled pork queso was packed with flavor and toppings, and the chips are seasoned! This isn’t something I really see at other restaurants, but it does the dish justice. They also use corn tortilla chips as opposed to flour tortillas, it’s a nice change of pace.

The interior is absolutely charming and so cozy, the bar and waiting area are so cute. It does no skimp on southern charm. In the back there is outdoor seating as well for people, but there is also a section where you can bring your leashed pets. This is a huge win. They also have a handicap accessible ramp on the back side of the building for those in wheelchairs.

Overall they provide an excellent dining experience and it’s definitely something to try. I for sure will be going back as I find it’s hard to find a smokehouse restaurant with good flavor and variety. Not to say that we don’t have others around, but they are still very few and far between.

We went with the try every meat w four sides times two. The cornbread, brussel sprouts, beans all tasted very well and the child enjoyed the macaroni and cheese.
Brisket and ribs were top-notch. Not to say that anyone did not enjoy the chicken and shrimp just that those were my personal favorites.
Plenty of outdoor seating and in the fall and winter that’s just perfect. They have plenty of drink options but we weren’t in the mood that day.
Check this place out.

I found the service good I had carry out. The wait was about 15 minutes. I found the ribs were delicious for me the brisket was a little dry. I found the $7 banana pudding a little underwhelming for $7. The question I asked myself will I go back for a second visit. I want to say no but it’s a possibility maybe I’ll go back.

I was convinced to go here by a friend. My response was, I live in Texas and you don’t go to Louisiana for bbq and I most certainly didn’t come to LA to try it. He kept on and I finally caved. I loved the house and atmosphere, and the staff were super hospitable! But let’s cut to the chase. The meat (I got dark chicken) was sub-par, cold, and tough, and the macaroni was gritty and almost bland. But the cornbread and baked beans were divine! I also ordered burnt ends for an additional $3 and I don’t know what those were but they weren’t burnt ends. They were these thick, rubbery, square pieces of meat but the flavor was good. I also think most people expect there to be fresh brewed tea at bbq joints but not here. All they had was bottled tea. Then as we were leaving, one of the cooks came to the back to unload some things from his car and we almost got high just walking past him, which makes me wonder about who was handling the food. You can see into the kitchen and watch them cook the food and I noticed no one was wearing gloves or any other food service accessory. This is why I’m giving 3 stars. So while the food wasn’t great, the service and surroundings were, and those alone would convince me to give them a second chance. Maybe next time I’ll order the pulled pork and cheese grits and be wowed! Cross your fingers!

.One of my favorite places in Lafayette to get BBQ is MIDCITY Smokehouse. They have a good variety of meats off the smoker and side. Some of my favorites are the Smoked Turkey, Chicken & Bacon Burnt Ends.

-Bacon Burnt Ends
-Smoked Turkey, Chicken & Pulled Pork with Baked Beans & Coleslaw
-Sliced Brisket & Ribs
Brussels Sprouts & Cheddar Cheese Grits

Great brisket from the few bites I had on an order of a spud that was purchased. The burger was fine–especially with a side of extra mayo added to it. The potato bun (well…it didn’t taste as such, but it is written on the menu that it is a potato bun) couldn’t handle the burger patty and other fixings, so if you don’t like being a sloppy eater in public, use your knife and fork. Lol
I’m not too sure of the restaurant’s culture just yet, but it seems like a very young and urban spot. Most people were dining outside (Friday night).
The mac-and-cheese was NOT good.
I had a lot of reservations ordering the BBQ because the prices were too high. I was terrified to make a purchase of those meats and they would not be edible.

Came back on 9/27/20 and was brave enough to order the meats!!!!!!!
I ordered the three meats: brisket/pulled pork/sausage (green onions) and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed what I had. My guests enjoyed the meats, too.
I’m not fond of the potato salad, so I will not be buying it again, but the corn grits were ok.

Cool place – good location in the center of town. Ate on the patio – plenty of room inside and out. Can imagine this is a hopping place at night. Corn-grits were hot and tasted great. Smothered green beans were good. Brisket was a little fatty but did taste good and was tender.

It was truly amazing , 10/10! Would recommend. I added the onions and juice from my Brussel sprouts on my sandwich. Took to another level. Before, I would say the sandwich was 9/10 , but after; . Brussel sprouts and may have been the best I have ever had. It is really loud for lunchtime. So if you are looking for a quieter place for lunch, maybe not here.
