WOW, WOW,WOW, What a gem of a family owned restaurant in Oceanport. Recently, while taking a different way home I stumbled on this restaurant. Went back for dinner and I will be a regular. Why, food was OUTSTANDING-Priced for value, the family were very friendly and engaging, and the atmosphere was quaint-good for a family or “date night “ dinner-and BYOB always high on my list!

Wish I took pictures of the food! Started with the artichokes franchise and they were delicious!!! All of our entrees: chicken saltimbocca, Marsala both chicken and veal and chicken parm were amazing ! If you have not tried it you have to. Plus it’s a BYOB

We arrived soon after they opened, on a Friday evening (4 PM). We were the only patrons in the restaurant, but we were hungry for an early dinner. They brought out hot crusty bread and some herbed olive oil… yum. My hubby and I shared a Caesar salad. It was cold, crisp and had lots of dressing that was so delicious. The great croutons were a bit too big to get on the fork with the greens, but I can work with that. Their menu is not very big. I don’t eat meat, nor shell-fish, so I was very limited. I asked if they could make eggplant parmigiana, but was denied. Ultimately, I had the penne vodka, and it was very good, but normally would not be my first choice. My husband had the veal calabrese with angel hair pasta and enjoyed the dish very much, however, the broccoli rabe, which was extra $, was not good. I would return again, but, I would call ahead and see if they can do the eggplant, otherwise, I would not return if I have to eat the same thing all the time.

They were out of two or three types of pasta on a Friday night (!?) and made an incorrect recommendation. No biggie. When I picked it up (two mains) the bill was $60 (for what you see in the picture). It came with some plain bread. Food was all bland, even the fra Diablo. When I picked up I saw that dining in is basically people sitting in a room with bright white lighting (like in a garage) … It’s all just a bit weird.

The food was great. There were only 2 servers working and being Saturday nite it was fairly busy so of course service was slow and not very attentive. Atmosphere wise, needs a refresh. We will be back because we really enjoyed the food and hopefully the service will be better.

First night I went to Mias I had lamb chops and mushroom rizzoto. Delicious. The next week it was 95 out she suggested something not on menu. Lightly breaded chicken with lite oil and salad on top. perfect!
