I’ve searching around for decent restaurant with a good tasting food for a while before we came to DC. We are from Alberta, Canada anyway. And I found this restaurant with unique interior design, and its really catched my eyes.
I ordering birria, which was so tender, deliciousness, good amount of sauce and I love the soft tortillas too.
My husband got his guajillo hamburger, as he satisfied that I can see from his eyes. Means wife missions to search was successful.. lol
Ok, now dessert time! Yaayy the manager came handed a plate dessert with firecracker on top, we were confused says that was for us lol. After we confirmed with the waitress that was from manager special for us.. thanks a lot lol.. actually dessert that we ordered was so good too.

Can’t remember her name but our waitress was so fast and so informative.

Very recommended

Ultimately, this was a disappointing experience. The food wasn’t anything to rave about. The drinks didn’t make up for it either. One of my friends kept saying his fish had more breading than fish. After trying it myself, I agreed. The taste was awful, and I was honestly surprised he didn’t send it back. If they had toned down (or properly seasoned) the breading, it might have been decent.

My other friend said her tacos were fine, but the price point didn’t match what she got. My burger was okay, nothing special. The best thing I had all night was the chips and salsa.

I also ordered a glass of wine, and the glassware wasn’t very clean. You could clearly see streaks and scratches on it, which didn’t help the overall impression.

I wouldn’t recommend this as a first date spot or really a date spot in general.

I will say, they were clearly going for a certain ambiance, and I can appreciate that. Unfortunately, the arena’s large LED sign shines directly through the top windows at night. If you’re seated facing it, it’s almost blinding. Adding a shade or darker tint to that upper window would make a big difference. Oh and bathrooms were horribly designed. It was dark walking up the ramp (which is a trip hazard) and signage was nonexistent until you got up to the door opening.

I regret recommending this place to my friends, but hey at least we can say we tried it. I wouldn’t return to this location. I’d suggest going to the Wharf location instead.

Mi Vida is a fun restaurant to enjoy happy hour in the bar area or full service sit-down dining experience in their large dining area. My husband and I were taking a break from the downtown DC holiday market just across the street from Mi Vida and enjoyed a round of happy hour at the bar prior to sitting down for a full meal in the dining area. The happy hour menu is fairly diverse and we easily found a cocktail and snack to try. The spicy mezcal cocktail was probably my favorite. I love the smoky flavor of mezcal. The appetizer and entree selections are very expansive and should satisfy any crowd. The portions are also huge. My husband and I realized we should have just ordered on entree to share…lol. Anyway, everything tasted amazing and the staff were all helpful and friendly. We will be back. Thank you and happy holidays! 🙂

We stopped here for lunch with work friends as we visited DC & we enjoyed the ambiance, the food, the drinks & the friendly service. We ordered the Enchiladas de mole, tacos de shrimp, tacos de carne & taquitos with some sides. We enjoyed everything but the black beans were too spicy for me (typically they don’t have any spice) but everything else was great. We also ordered a pitcher of ponche & it was really good. The only thing I was very upset about is that their doors are NOT handicap accessible. My friend wouldn’t have been able to get in because the doors are so heavy & there isn’t an automatic door opener button

Came here on a Friday night without a reservation and got sat after like 10 minutes as a party of 6 so that’s awesome. The service and atmosphere was great. It was super loud but we were able to talk. The food was solidly good but definitely DC-priced. I’d sooner go to a better-priced Mexican restaurant for the food, but the vibes were good! Service was great, too.

If there was one thing I could tell Mi Vida, it’s that less is more. The Birria, which is one of the simplest dishes they have, was outstanding—tender and flavorful. Many of the other dishes (and cocktails) tried to pile too many things on, and it ended up taking away from it. The croquetes de esquites were overwhelmed my the salsa they were served it, the tres leches was topped with unnecessary piles of fruits that didn’t let the cake shine, and some of their cocktails were so complicated they took 15+ minutes to come out. The food is not bad here by any means (see: Birria) but overall I would not seek this place out. Other notes: 1) Server was very nice but kind of awkward. He forgot my drink, and they were out of the first two things I ordered, which I wish he had told me beforehand. 2) It’s kind of loud here, and the lights from capitol one arena across the street can be kind of distracting. 3) The huevos rellenos were surprisingly good. They are a spicy play on deviled eggs.

Tldr: it’s meh and DC is fully of really good restaurants, so recommend finding some place else.

I was there quite a while ago for lunch but even now, when I watch the photos, I recall how great it was!

To start with, it was the first restaurant where I tasted the real avocado! -)
Not the ones that are sold outside America but the one with a good taste and the guacamole made of it was fantastic.

If you walk around Washington, it is a great place to stop by, have some rest, drink a beer, get some great food and proceed discovering the city! -)

Have a bartender who looks barely 21 asking people who are twice his age for IDs very rude. I ordered my food thinking I’m gonna get a regular size quesadilla. They bring me a kids meal. I’m like what is this you’re expecting me to pay like $20 for it. They told me that it was a They told me that it was an adult meal. I’m like that’s three pieces. What is that?Service was horrible. Trying to get them to check us out.

We came here because it is across from the Caital One Arena where we were going to a Washington Capitals hockey game. My son had the taco dish and he is a chef and said they were excellent. I had the cod like fish an chips. The cod was infused with lime and the crust was the lightest flakey crust I ever had. It was the best I ever had. If you come here have the guacamole with spicy crab and chip..

The food was delicious. I ordered the CHAMORRO$34.00
Slow-Cooked Pork Shank, Creamy Spinach, Pickled Jalapeños, Corn Tortilla. I added a side of rice to my order. When you order this, be prepared to eat. I’m warning you now, don’t order it without your appetite being present. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. It was moist and tender on the inside while still maintaining a perfect crisp on the outside. The cream of spinach add pickled jalapenos that are on the plate serving as a flavor base are the perfect unexpected assist from half court. The other side of rice offers a balanced vehicle for the flavor bomb. This is essentially like ordering pernil. We order the side of the plantains which was salty sweet and crisp on the outside.
