The service was fast, friendly, and helpful when we asked questions.

The restaurant has a lot of decorations, it was fun to walk and look around.

There’s also option live music, they walk around and will ask if we want music.

The food was good. The beef was tasty and juicy, but the pork was dry and a bit lacking in flavor. The tortillas were fresh and delicious.

Make sure to visit the bakery. We only tried the pineapple empanadas, it was amazing. The other options also looked delicious.

I recently revisited Mi Tierra after about five years, and unfortunately, it’s not the gem it used to be. I was really looking forward to their beef fajitas, but when my plate arrived, it had maybe four ounces of fajitas total, barely enough for one taco. For a $26 plate, that’s just not acceptable.
My husband ordered quesadillas and asked if they could be made with corn tortillas. At first, the server said yes, but then came back saying the cooks refused to do it. For a Mexican restaurant, that’s a bit surprising.
On a positive note, my son had the fish and chips, and those were actually pretty tasty. The portion sizes overall, though, just weren’t worth the price. My husband’s pork ribs were tasty but not grilled as advertised, they were baked.
Mi Tierra has unfortunately gone downhill. It used to be a favorite, but now it feels more like a tourist trap that doesn’t live up to its past reputation. For the price we paid (about $100 for three people) the portions and the service just weren’t worth it. It’s a shame, but we probably won’t be returning anytime soon.

My family and I stopped by for dinner after visiting St. Therese the Little Flower Basilica to have our children experience the food and amazing atmosphere at Mi Tierra as part of our adventure for All Saint’s Day.

Upon entering you could hear the tableside mariachi musicians in the background serenading patrons. The front section was beautifully decorated for Dia de los Muertos as we entered and we were greeted by friendly staff. Our wait was 20 minutes and were notified via text both soon before our table was ready in case we left the premises to explore (we went to the plaza to check out the live music and people dancing) and right when it was ready. We were swiftly brought to our seats. Chips and salsa were served immediately. The chips were warm, thin and crispy and the salsa had a wonderful kick.

Our server gave us no pressure to place our drink, appetizer and meal orders quickly but did check on us frequently in case we needed her. The queso flameado was a cheese pull dish topped with chorizo and served with a side of fresh homemade flour tortillas.

My son ordered the kids’ enchiladas, I ordered the Tacos del Mercado, and my husband got the Poblano Dinner. Portions were decent and with the chips and salsa and appetizer, we ended up taking half our meals home for the next day.

We stopped at the bakery counter on the way out to get some dessert/next day’s breakfast and got an assortment of breads and jello. Everything was great quality and tasted fresh. You could taste the spices used to make the pan dulce, it wasn’t just filled with sugar.

We highly recommend Mi Tierra to anyone wanting a festive and vibrant experience for your tastes and sights!

Iconic!

Service and atmosphere:
The atmosphere and original Mexican decorations and influences is what makes this restaurant to standout. The interior is colourful and vibrant.
This is very popular spot so waiting time will be on a longer side but it’s worth the wait.
Staff were polite but definitely looked overwhelmed by number of guests.

Food and drinks:
They offer traditional Mexican cuisine. The flavours were definitely there.
I ordered steak which came with rice and refried beans. Steak was cooked medium rare which was great.
Certain items like salsa served with chips tasted like a salsa from a jar. Also sangria is not made fresh, it is bought ready made. This wasn’t a big deal for us.
The restaurant offers freshly baked goods too so you can get some to go.

Pricing:
Affordable.

For a classic institution in the El Mercado, it does not sit on its laurels as a well located venue in a tourist trap. The staff are welcoming and the food is awesome with generous portions. Beyond that, however, the ambiance is amazing- a burst of color in every direction, like being at a never ending fiesta. Also, the best Mexican Bakery I have been to outside of (or inside of?) Mexico!

When we walked in the atmosphere was fabolous! The decor was maximalist & we loved it! There was a 50 minute wait. Thankfully the markets made the 50 minute wait enjoyable! Once we were seated it took a while for the waitress to come to our table but it was busy! We ordered a small cheese dip & when the chips finally arrived it was one small salsa for four people which were not use to. During the whole visit we only got one more thing of chips which we had to ask for & only one refill of drinks which she returned with no straws. The food was really good. Our only complaint is the whole chips & salsa thing which is a big deal to us when eating at a Mexican restaurant and is the reason for 4 stars. For four people it was $101.21 then we also spend money buying sweet treats on our way out. We enjoyed it. The atmosphere is the best!

We were in San Antonio for a day after some sightseeing wanted to grab lunch. They looked nice and with added bakery it was go time. We waited around 10 minutes for the table, but didn’t mind since we just drooled at all the desserts. The appetizer itself was filling for 2 people and we only got one main course. The Puebla with mole sauce was very good. A little sweet and chicken was tender. Overall the experience was great.

We visited Mi Tierra on Thanksgiving since our Airman had to be back on base early, and I’m so glad we chose this spot. The restaurant is huge, and despite the holiday, the wait wasn’t bad at all.

“Beautiful atmosphere” is truly an understatement, this place is stunning, vibrant, and full of character. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was warm and attentive from start to finish.

Overall, it was the perfect place to share a special holiday meal. Highly recommend!

Had a couple of restaurants to pick from and we chose this one. This was a great choice. The food was good and the service was great.. They did have live singers going around to tables playing their instrument and singing.. The vibes were great. They also had a bakery. The bakery had so many choices and everything looked delicious. I did not get anything from the bakery because I was so full from the great food we had in the restaurant. I will be returning here next time. I am in town.

This was the highlight of our trip to San Antonio when it comes to restaurants. What an experience! This place is a true gem and should be a must for anyone visiting San Antonio who wants authentic Mexican/ Tex Mex.

The food was absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. I ate so much but I wanted to keep eating! I had the beef enchiladas and they were the best (by far) I have ever had. My wife and daughter were thoroughly impressed with their meals as well and agreed that this restaurant is IT!

The bonus to this restaurant is that they have a bakery with modest pricing so that you can get a desert to go on your way out. We did so and were so happy that we did! The bakery goods are fantastic and if you have a sweet tooth you will most definitely want to get something for later

I can’t recommend this place enough and we will certainly be back when visiting the area in the future.
