My first visit to MF Sushi was in 2015, and my latest visit 11 years later was just as impressive as the first. We sat at the sushi bar to change up the pace and catch the head sushi chef working his art. Truly amazing.

This is a place you come to for the quality of the fish. We had 2 orders of the avocado balls with spicy tuna, so good. Chutoro and ocean trout sashimi, it was so tender and the taste so uniquely fresh. We tried the chef’s deluxe nigiri, none of the cuts disappointed. The hamachi appetizer was also very good. Our last dish was the lobster Osaka box, my favorite roll in the whole wide world! Still as satisfying as the first time I had it.

It’s a sushi restaurant with style and atmosphere, a great date night spot. 100% recommended, over and over again.

MF Sushi has good food, but the service was very lacking. They were out of several items, and we weren’t told until 20–30 minutes after ordering, and my drink order never arrived, the service seemed disorganized and chaotic. For the price and the vibe, the food wasn’t good enough to make up for the experience,
There are much better sushi restaurants in the Greater Houston area.

The only bright spot was the valet — he was super friendly and quick.

I had a wonderful time the other night at this restaurant. Service is impeccable. Quality of ingredients are top notch. Valet service is very professional and took great care of my precious car. I will definitely be back! I have heard their Omakase is the best in Houston:)

Favorite sushi place in Houston & probably ever. The otoro, uni, and scallop nigiri are all amazing, and the hamachi starter is fantastic. Sitting at the sushi bar is the way to go. We were amazed by the chef’s knife skills slicing fish with one hand and artfully peeling carrots into long ribbons. It’s dinner and a show!

Goodness gracious. This sushi place was incredible. Yes, you’ll pay for it but coming from SoCal, this place rivals anything we’ve had by our coast. Everything was top notch and super fresh.

Great experience. Very stylish dining room with a unique, lovely sushi bar. Waiting for our table, we had drinks at the bar and the bartenders were attentive and very nice. Sitting down to dinner we had a very knowledgeable and helpful waiter. And the sushi was sooo good. I think my favorite dish of the night was the madai appetizer. All of the pieces were fantastic.

Glad to see it was very crowded – with all the restaurant closures I’m worried about our great Houston restaurants – but this place seemed to be doing fine on a Saturday night.

I think the food was good, but it’s honestly overpriced. Portions are not at all generous for how much it cost; pieces were so minuscule I wondered if I actually ate anything. Service was nice but not that attentive. We waited really long for raw fish.
Overall mediocre experience and wouldn’t return for seconds.

I came in and had high hopes in finding a good Japanese sushi and sashimi restaurant.
They were nice enough to find a table for us instead of bench seats. But I was surprised when I asked to be seated at the sushi bar. I was told that I need to make a reservation to sit at the sushi bar in advance. I thought that was interesting since there weren’t any one sitting at the sushi bar. So I assume that other people had made the reservation. But to my Surprise, no one came and sit at the sushi bar for the entire time I was there.
As to their food, I felt it was average at best, maybe below average. Many items that I like in the previous reviews are no longer available. So check my photos of the menu to see if something that you like is still available.
Their portion sizes are smaller than the average Japanese restaurant in the Houston area. and those Japanese restaurant charge less for the similar items.
In the end, my overall experience is very disappointing.
