Loved it! Pretty quiet winter weekend so no waiting and we were there around 5pm. Everything from the guacamole to the pozole was phenomenal. Chris was great with service. Thanks for a nice evening ❤️

Was so stoked when I saw Mezcal had reopened, it was my favorite Mexican Restaurant before Covid struck, came back not knowing what to expect and it was better than before! The atmosphere is lively, the staff was attentive and all the drinks were timely despite there only being one bartender. she was a sweetheart! Glad to have you guys back.

My quest for out-of-this world Mexican food in Ashland continues. I was hoping Mezcal would be a contender after making its triumphant return following a 3 year hiatus. I never got a chance to try the place the first go-around, so better late than never.
The location has it all. Downtown spot amidst the friendly Ashland bustle. Third floor balcony seats with an amazing view of the valley—unbeatable when the weather is just right. We made reservations outside and it ended up being a gorgeous warm evening with a cool breeze. Drinks came out. I was stoked for a nice meal.
The eats were ultimately lacking. The highlight of the meal was the chorizo queso dip for the chips. Aggressive flavor with diced peppers and seasoned chorizo in each bite. My main was the shrimp enchiladas which I think they forgot to season. Enchiladas tasted like plain tortillas, rice tasted like plain rice, and beans tasted like plain beans. It was missing the spice and flare of a good Mexican joint. The wet burrito was a notch better, so I think there could be some hidden gems on the extensive menu. Although I’ve noticed when a restaurant menu has several pages, it becomes too difficult to execute every option with finesse.
Overall in my mind the place falls in the “tourist restaurant” category. Probably good for people passing through who want a spot with a great view walking up from the plaza. I think if the restaurant wants to level-up and attract locals, they should simplify the menu to one page and focus on elevating the quality.

Hands down best location on the plaza. Modern decor elevates the dining experience. Staff are very personable and always go that little extra. Food always fresh and well presented. Overall experience highest of quality, that’s the bottom line.

Came in early in the afternoon for Quesa Birria Tacos and was not disappointed. Probably some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever indulged in. Ordered a side of rice and beans and a Chili relleno to share with my partner. Amazing food and amazing service.

Food here is amazing! I literally eat here 3 days a week. The menu is diverse and not too expensive given the quality. Staff have great friendly, service with lots of personality. Drink options are delicious and varied. Just an overall great atmosphere and good vibes all around. You won’t be disappointed.

We came by the restaurant on Halloween evening so weren’t expecting fantastic service, but this took the cake on terrible service I would have to say so far as Ashland restaurants are concerned. We waited 15 minutes, I believe they were understaffed and had some understanding regarding this. However, once we were seated (the table was dirty), we waited another 15 minutes for our server to come around and get our drink order. There was another table that was sat after us, they received their food before our dinner order was even taken. Our server was polite, however he was inattentive and dismissive. He bussed tables around us while we waited for him to take our order (seems more important to attend to guests than to bus your tables). We had a mezcal margarita, regular margarita and a caipirnha, they took forever to get and were just OK. We ordered a chips and guacamole appetizer, completely forgotten. We ordered pozole, cheese enchiladas and vegetarian fajitas. We received the cheese enchiladas and pozole, however our server got the order incorrect and we received vegetarian enchiladas in place of the fajitas. The food was mediocre at best, the cheese in my enchiladas wasn’t melted all of the way. Our server never checked on us to verify food was ok or to refill our drinks/water. The door was opened to the patio during the first 25 minutes and it was 45 degrees outside and therefore freezing. When we received our check, the server made sure to add queso onto our bill which another table had purchased for us because we had matching costumes. Had he been more attentive perhaps he would have realized this. It was definitely not worth the 90$ bill and I will not come back.
