This isn’t your typical American-style Mexican restaurant. Don’t expect chips and salsa at the table—that’s more of an American tradition than an authentic one. But trust me, once the food arrives, you won’t miss a thing.
We ordered two tacos al pastor, a taco dorado, and tinga de pollo, along with a side of black beans and rice. Every single dish was bursting with flavor. It truly was like tasting food for the first time! The salsas were incredible—fresh, bold, and layered with flavor.
The service was also excellent. The staff were kind, welcoming, and patient with our questions, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
This is the kind of meal that makes you want to plan a return trip—and we’re from Kansas! If you’re in Indy, do not miss this spot. You won’t be disappointed.
Food is great. Wish they had beer but they don’t and that’s OK too. If I want free chips and a beer… I just go to a different place. I frequent this place because the food they DO offer is awesome and most the time that’s all I need!
*Editing to add a pic of some takeout Pozole. Hitting the SPOT on a cold winter day.
The pampazos are great and I have to force myself to try something different every time I go. Tacos Al Pastor are my current second favorite.
Hoping that this restaurant gets all the love it deserves even if it isn’t TexMex. Employees are always super nice and welcoming. Food also doesn’t take long to come out in my opinion.
On top of that, the people here are the sweetest—always welcoming and kind. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you’re seriously missing out. Highly recommend!
Here’s the menu in case you’re looking to order from here soon!
Mexico City Kitchen #2 delivers an experience the eastside of Indy has been craving: vibrant, layered flavors that speak of real culinary roots. Every bite feels intentional, from the pozole verde that hums with warmth and brightness, to the chorizo quesadilla fritos that hit all the right crispy-savory notes. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients, and you can feel the pride in the way each dish is plated and served.
The staff here are unfailingly kind and attentive, creating a dining atmosphere that matches the food—welcoming, warm, and authentic. This is not just a meal; it’s an introduction to a deeper, richer version of Mexican cooking than many eastside diners have not experienced recently.
