Eating Adventures With Omar
My first experience with Mexican Taqueria wasn’t pleasant. I waited in the front area to be seated for breakfast for about five minutes before I actually started calling out for a server or someone to come up front. I ended up leaving and going somewhere else that day. I then decided to go back to give them a second chance a few days later. I was greeted with a smile and seated. My server brought out some chips and salsa that were really good and a soda. I ordered the birria tacos with beans and snacked on the chips and salsa while I waited. My food took a little longer than expected, seeing as the restaurant was fairly empty. When it came out, it looked better than it tasted. They weren’t the best I’ve had, but I’ve had better and much worse. The beans, however, were amazing! I couldn’t get enough of those. I’d give them another try, but it’ll be for breakfast tacos.

Taco Tour Texas!
I am currently doing a taco tour and rating chips and salsa, lime margaritas and steak tacos on a scale of 1-5. When my child is with, she rates the chicken taco.
Chips and salsa: The chips were homemade, light and airy. They were served warm and salted perfectly. The salsa was sweet, full of fresh flavor and had a kick that did not linger. The salsa was more puréed than chunky – 5
Lime Margarita on the rocks: It wasn’t the greatest, it wasn’t the worst. The initial couple of drinks tasted like a margarita mix. But the more watered down it got, the less of a mix it tasted like – 3
Happy hour from 4-6 on margaritas making them $2.99
Steak Taco:
Flavor: 3.5
Fullness: 4
Appearance: 2.5
When the taco was brought out it, the initial appearance was disappointing due to the tortilla being out of the package and not prepared any way. The tortilla appeared to have been removed from a package and placed on the plate. The steak was cut in bite size pieces and looked like it was going to be dry. Surprisingly despite the over charring on some pieces the meat was actually tender and quite flavorful. Despite there being nothing done to the tortilla it actually held up well when eating. Even though visually the taco looked like it was going to be a disappointment, it was actually a really good taco. We would come back and have more.
Chicken Taco:
Flavor: 3
Fullness: 4
Appearance: 4
It was a good meat to cheese ratio. The meat had good flavor to it.
Service: Our server was very nice and accommodating – 5
We also ordered queso fondito for an appetizer which is chorizo and cheese, served with chips that was delicious!

I love it here!! It’s so comfortable, and the food is delicious!! I’m addicted to the mini tacos with pastor, and the shrimp ceviche. Just tried the house margarita, and it was fabulous.

The salad was delicious . The waitress was very professional. There was a music band playing which made the atmosphere joyful. I enjoyed the music while eating my food. I had a blast with my friends.

Fantastic service and food. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and tender. Quesadilla huge, enchiladas had good amount of sauce and cheese. The salsa was spicier than most places and more flavorful too! No complaints from kids which is rare. Plus they had Selena playing for authentic atmosphere. Wait staff was very attentive. Ignore any review over a month old, it’s a new place now!!

THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE!!!!!! THE SERVICE WAS EVEN WORSE!!!!!! We waited for our food for an hour and a half mind you it wasn’t busy at all. The server never came back to check on us after taking our order. The manager brought my plate first and proceeded to tell us they got new cooks who didn’t have a clue what they were doing. She also said my husband’s plate would be done in a few which made no sense cause we ordered at the same time. We only had beef and cheese enchiladas mind you. My plate had been sitting for god knows how long. Our enchiladas were corn tortillas with meat and cheese only. Dry with no sauce at all. I’ve never been served enchiladas in that way. The rice was crunchy and hard. We will never return here. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Mind you 3 other people walked in and got their food before us and again we ordered the simplest item on the menu. They need knew everything because it’s ridiculous to run a restaurant this way. -0 out of 10!!!!!!!!

The food was authentic and delicious. The service was great, our waitress was sweet and friendly. The atmosphere was great, we definitely coming back. It was so convenient staying in Shilo Inn and just walking next door to eat last min dinner. I definitely recommend it.

The salsa was good, but the chicken fajita meat was way over-seasoned. The charro beans were pretty good, although a little jalapeño would have been nice. We found the large screen TV in the dining area playing videos to be a little odd. It was too loud and seemed more suited to the bar area than a dining area; and it was just top 100 stuff from the past 20 years so it didn’t really enhance the Tex-Mex experience. Our server did a very good job, though, so that was a plus.

Went for my sons birthday to try out and was disappointed. The only redeeming quality was the service. We waited quite a while for our food considering we were the only table. Everyone’s plate came out at different times. One of my sons ordered the birria “pizza”, which was just a large quesadilla not a pizza. My other son ordered the birria ramen. It was extremely salty, this coming from a person that likes salt. We sent it back and he got pastor mini tacos instead. The meat in the molcajete was overcooked and chewy. I ordered the Mexican burrito and it was just okay. The server was sweet and did a good job. Prices were okay. Overall, a disappointing experience. We will not go back!

Ordered mini tacos. $9⁹⁹, plus $1 if you want meat on them. Ticket +$4 because I asked ½ shrimp, ½ al carbon.. because I asked for 2 meats. Asked waitress upfront if I can have 2 different, the answer yes. Manager came over they immediately spoke Spanish as if I didn’t understand. Manager basically laughed and said pay, and dropped $2 off because even for her she could justify $4. Food was subpar, salsa not so good, shrimp was frozen too long, steak was little hard balls of burned meat. Left zero tip as it got consumed for the confusion. No wonder only 1 other table I’m use at noon. 1st visit, very disappointing.
